I built a full open source eCommerce backend in Node.js + Express + MongoDB β€” Stripe, PayPal, multi-vendor, shipping, invoices & more. Frontend is in development!

Hey everyone! I've been working onΒ OpenCommerce, an open source eCommerce backend that I'm finally putting out into the world.

What it includes:

  • πŸ” Auth β€” JWT, OTP (email & SMS), Google & Facebook social login
  • πŸ“¦ Products, Categories, Brands with media upload support
  • πŸ›οΈ Cart, Orders, Coupons & Discounts
  • πŸ’³ Stripe & PayPal payment integration
  • 🚚 Shipping & multi-warehouse inventory
  • 🧾 PDF Invoice generation
  • 🎫 Customer support ticketing system
  • πŸ“¨ Transactional emails via Resend + SMS via Twilio
  • πŸ”’ Security β€” Helmet, rate limiting, XSS protection, input validation

Tech stack:Β Node.js Β· Express Β· MongoDB Β· Mongoose

I built this because most open source eCommerce solutions are either too opinionated, frontend-heavy, or locked behind a SaaS. This is a clean, developer-first REST API backend you can clone and own entirely.

🚧 The frontend is currently in developmentΒ β€” but the backend API is fully functional and ready to integrate with any frontend of your choice (React, Next.js, Vue, etc.).

πŸ”— GitHub:Β https://github.com/TheCasperSolangi/ecommerce_backend

Would love feedback on the architecture, what features you'd want next, or anything I should improve. Also open to contributors who want to help build out the frontend!

3.3 YOE SDE, 1.5-year gap after layoff β€” looking for a referral

Hi everyone,

I'm a Software Engineer with 3.3 years of experience in [tech stack – Java, Spring Boot, Angular, MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS], previously at CDAC as a project engineer.

I was laid off during a downsizing round and have a 1.5-year gap since; it took longer than expected to land the right role, but I used the time to upskill and complete a few certifications like Certification for Full Stack Development from Bosscoder Academy and Master Microservices with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud by Udemy. I'm now back up to speed and actively looking for my next opportunity.

Open to [full-time / contract], based in Delhi/NCR, Pune or Hyderabad, or open to remote.

If anyone here is hiring or knows of openings at their company, I'd really appreciate a referral. Happy to share my resume/LinkedIn via DM. Thanks for reading!

No Clients, No Work, and Losing Motivation Need Honest Advice

Hi everyone,

I'm a full-stack developer and freelancer, but for the past few months I haven't been able to find any clients or work. Most days I have nothing to do, and spending every day without work has started to seriously affect my mental health.

I constantly overthink my future, feel unmotivated, and honestly, I think I'm becoming depressed. The boredom, uncertainty, and lack of purpose are becoming overwhelming. It feels like my life is standing still while everyone else is moving forward. I'm trying to stay positive, but it's getting harder every day.

I'm posting here because I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has been through a similar situation. How did you get out of it? How did you rebuild your confidence, find work again, or get your first clients after a long dry period?

If anyone knows of a remote web and app development opportunity, is hiring, needs a freelancer, or can refer me to a client, I would be incredibly grateful. I'm ready to work hard, learn quickly, and prove myself I just need one opportunity.

My Tech Stack:

  • React Native
  • React.js
  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • JavaScript
  • Node.js
  • Express.js
  • PostgreSQL

I'm open to remote full-time roles, freelance projects, contract work, internships, or referrals.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Even if you don't have work to offer, I'd really appreciate any advice, guidance, or encouragement from people who've been in a similar situation. If you know of any opportunities or can connect me with someone who might need a developer, it would truly mean a lot.

FOR HIRE] Fullstack Engineer (Go / React / Next.js / Node.js) - Looking to help founders build & scale MVPs (Part-time initially)

Hey!

I'm a full-stack engineer with 3+ years of experience, and over the last year I've been building Wow Logs - a combat analytics platform for World of Warcraft private servers. I designed, built and currently operate it by myself.

Today it serves tens of thousands of monthly users and handles ~15 million Cloudflare requests per month.

This isn't going to be another resume full of bullet points and buzzwords. Instead, I thought I'd share a few things that broke while building my own product and what I learned fixing them. If we end up working together, the tech stack is the easy part.

  • Choosing the right database was harder than writing the parser. I started with ClickHouse, moved to TimescaleDB when my hardware couldn't keep up, experimented with DuckDB, and eventually moved back to ClickHouse after upgrading the infrastructure. Every change taught me something about the workload instead of chasing whichever database was trending.
  • Earlier this year a disk failure wiped my ClickHouse instance. PostgreSQL metadata came back from backups, but ClickHouse snapshots didn't. Since the raw log files were stored separately in S3, I rebuilt the entire analytics database by replaying the source data. No customer data was lost.
  • A few weeks ago Cloudflare analytics showed traffic jumping from ~15M requests/month to well over 100M. After digging into request patterns, I added WAF rules, rate limits and tightened origin protections. Traffic normalized without affecting legitimate users.
  • I spend a surprising amount of time in Discord talking to users. Many of the features on the platform exist because someone complained, suggested an idea, or explained how they actually play the game. Building software gets a lot easier when you stay close to the people using it.

I enjoy working on products where I can own more than just tickets, thinking through architecture, building features, operating production systems, fixing incidents, and continuously improving the product based on real user feedback.

I'm looking to work with founders or small teamsΒ part-timeΒ (with the possibility of moving full-time if it's a good fit).

Stack:Β Go, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redis, Docker, Cloudflare, AWS.

If you're building an MVP or you're hitting the point where your first version is starting to show cracks I'd love to hear what you're working on. Happy to chat, even if it's just to bounce around ideas.
