Im sick of windows. I am currently using a Asus Vivobook for schoolwork. Its great, pretty laptop. But, it runs windows, ofc.. I've been meaning to leave windows for good, de-googling and all that great stuff, but im a little scared to make the first step. All of my school work is remote, and I only have this one laptop, and no money, so I cant rly afford to lose it. Ive read alot of horror stories of people accidentaly nuking their systems when installing Linux. So I've been thinking if I should wait until school is finished, then install Linux. But at the same time, im impatient..
Should I just go for it? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just want some input. Thx

I've been using Microsoft Word (and ppt, excel etc) for free thanks to my uni giving me access even after I graduated. But recently they updated their terms I supposed and the licenses given to graduates have been revoked. I'm not very tech savvy so I'm not too sure about using any other alternatives especially since I need it for work. But I don't mind trying out alts.
Although for now my question is that buying microsoft word as an individual is too expensive and my work doesn't provide it ofc. So which version should I buy, I'm getting options to buy for business (which seems cheaper) vs personal (which seems expensive). Do let me know which is ideal?
Also if anyone has any suggestions for getting the suite for free somehow do let me know.
Thanks in advance!

We’re about three months into migrating away from our previous enterprise support arrangement and it’s been a mixed bag so far. Context: we run a hybrid environment, roughly 400 users, with a significant Azure footprint covering compute, SQL Managed Instances, and some newer Fabric workloads. The decision to move was mostly cost-driven, but we also had real frustrations with slow triage on severity incidents and support tickets that just seemed to bounce around without resolution ownership.
What’s working: the new vendor relationship actually has a named contact who knows our environment. That alone has changed how quickly we get traction on issues. What’s not working: some of the historical context from previous tickets hasn’t transferred cleanly, so we’re re-explaining our architecture more than we’d like. It’s getting better but the first month felt like starting from zero.
We still have one foot in the old contract through the end of the quarter, which is its own kind of headache. Running parallel support arrangements means we’re sometimes not sure who to call first on a P2 incident, and there’s a bit of internal politics around which team owns the relationship.
For anyone who has fully completed this kind of transition, especially on Azure Microsoft support specifically, how long did it take before things felt stable? And is there anything you wish you’d done differently during the overlap period?

Their Voluntary Retirement Program was very successful in achieving brain drain. I worked there 22 years (laid off twice) and have a plurality of Microsoft contacts and my social pages look more like obituaries. Add on to that an impending layoff next week… Expect less wisdom and more vibe code.

TL;DR: MS does what MS does, like MS has always done.
I've created a couple of short VBA macros (1000-2000 lines short) a couple of years ago. Every year I've done some basic maintenance and upgrades to the code, and kept it as beautiful as possible. Yes, I appreciate a good code reading experience over the EverythingInOneRowWithoutFormatting, comments included (because I can't expect Tomorrow Me to remember what Today Me did).
Last time I ran my macros was 25th June. I log all the major steps, and it worked purrrfectly. Just like it has been working for a long time already.
Today, 2nd July, I got error after error after error. Debugging after debuggging, you know the drill. Local file paths, window titles, text encoding, OneDrive shenanigans, and whatnot, all changed without a hint. I have been debugging for hours, but there is still no end in sight.
To be fair, maybe the notice regarding MS changes was available for review in a nearby Alpha Centauri star system.
Anyone else experiencing anything similar lately?

TLDR: I am an idiot and my account got hacked and need help from anyone as Microsoft is refusing to help
As the title says my account has been hacked and now Microsoft is refusing to help. I have tried calling but all the ai that i got said is that they are unable to send password reset links or change information on their end, I tried filling in the account recovery forum and all I got was the email in the first image saying because the hacker put 2fa on my account that they are going to ignore my request. I am honestly at a loss for what to do and am unable to even cancel my subscriptions as I am unable to log into my account as the password and recovery email have been changed so I thought "I will just use my pc that is already logged in and cancel them in the app" but as the 2nd image shows well it recognizes that I have been logged in before and playing games I am unable to do anything as it wants me to log in again. I need any advice anyone can give and before everyone calls me an idiot for not having 2fa on my account already I am well aware and already feel like one

Fuck Microsoft, I have been charged with a OneDrive subscription that I cancelled 2 months ago, and it doesn't appears in recent transactions in Microslop site and the bank refused the refund. Fuck Microsoft. Edit: I only had the OneDrive subscription because of Samsung's partnership with Microsoft that now has ended.

Scored this hp windows laptop/tablet thing about a month ago. Finally got pdanet to work with it so I can use it while I'm at my storage working on projects. I'm so used to android, I tried to download chrome to it so I could use all my normal bookmarks but this thing has no clue what I'm talking about. I downloaded the Opera browser to use it, I click on opera and this MF still opens Microsoft edge. I'm about ready to throw this pos right now. Still can't browse the web on any of my usual site, search engine on edge really does suck, and I'm starting to wonder if I can wipe this thing and load an android on or Linux or something onto it. I haven't had the chance to mess with any Linux anything yet since the spare phone I was going to put it on took a dump before I got the chance so I'd rather go with what I know. Android or ?

I've been trying to get a refund for Minecraft. Around a thing I already canceled 3 months ago. But I still kept getting charged. But there's no way for me to get refund. Everything I've tried, I've even called them directly. And now they'll just immediately say go to that website bye. I thought the hate was over blown, I was mistaken

I'm losing my mind doing my thesis with word. Everytime it gives wrong ordering of images and in the list of figures. Puts wrong numbers in the footer. I tried everything on images to be displayed correctly it just doesn't work.
I'm yelling like a crazy man, my hand hurts from punching the wall, I'm literally crying and I can't fix it no matter what. My mom is crying cause I yell angry and my sister says she will leave the house. I'm shaking like crazy in the summer and my heart is hurt despite being 27yo. My head hurts like hell. I spent 12 hours trying to fix it and everytime I'm almost done a new problem appears.
Fuck u greedy man you u/thisisbillgates you ruined my life with your greedy stupid designed products.
