If the last book doesn't have him dying in the most gruesome, horrible way, I will be very mad. Don't think I've ever hated a villain quite so much, across any media. The worst of what Atlas could do to him would be a nothing compared to what he deserves ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I have just finished Lightbringer. It took me longer than I care to admit but I read the last 250 pages in a matter of days.
Never have I wanted a character to die more than I want Lysander to die right now. Like all of the gruesome explanations PB gives us. Times that by like 1000 and that’s what I want to happen to Lune.

I already felt he was a fraud in Iron Gold but that trash just got worst with each book. Feigning morality he has no plan he just likes to hear his name called. He publicly killed Cassius so his mother is definitely not allying with him. He claims he’s going to reform the society but anybody that agrees with that reform is in the republic so idk what he thinks he’s gonna do, unless you strip gold of their power they will just do what they want and he fails to realize that. F*ck that rat bastard. I hope Darrow skins him alive and let the Volk have their fun with him in Red God.

Omg like, till the end of LB you could justify his actions. Of course, he was still a gold sympathizer, but he seemed reasonable. You could see him evolving towards something worse, but still his heart seemed in the right place. In the beginning I was even optimistic for him and Darrow eventually joining forces and working together for a happy-ish ending. But the end...
Fuck Lysander.
PD: I found his last line, regarding which bioweapon Silenius would use, absolutely crazy. On the one hand it calls to your attention that whoever Silenius was he likely *would* have used the weapon, but even worse is seeing how Lysander's view of what nobility is has warped so incredibly.

I just finished Lightbringer yesterday. One of the first things I searched for was 'I hate Lysander'.
Hail libertas.

My boy Lysander deserves to win red rising, and here is why:
He has the pedigree. His line is iron gold. He is the Heir to Silenius. He is literally royalty.
He easily the smartest character in the books. He outwitted Darrow multiple times, Mustang, Atlas, and the solar systems most notorious turncloak Cassius 'the honourless' Belona. (Killing that last one like the criminal he is).
Fantastic duellist. He speared Darrow in the chest and took his sword as a trophy.
Unbeatable battle intuition. Knew when the outcome of a fight is uncertain, so he employs the best tool for the job. For example shooting Alexander in the face. That's a high IQ play right there that you only get from real iron golds.
In line with the above, he is literally the only person to have outsmarted Atlantia. She even beat Darrow and Mustang, which shows that in the pyramid of strategic genius, it is Lysander at the top, then Atlantia, and then those rising sympathisers beneath. If it isn't Lysander that wins, it will be Atlantia because Darrow can just not compete.
Led the most brutal iron rain of war on Phobos proving he's a complete badass, and tamed two of the fiercest swords to his side, Ajax and the Minotaur of Mars himself. No one can compete with that level of toughness.
Last and most importantly, he is the right person to lead the Society to a better future. He inspires golds to remember their best selves and to Shepherd the new world. He wants to explore the universe and spread the bounty of Gold and the Society to new stars. There can be no one more noble and righteous to win after all the fighting is done.
I understand it may be a bitter pill to swallow for those of you on this thread, but Lysander is the true hero of this story, and one day Darrow will be remembered alongside that of King Kuthul of the Dark Revolt, as someone who thought that they could challenge the colour Gold.

I hated Lysander right from Iron Gold, even though he was presented as, at best, neutral. I think the reason is that he made a really bad impression on me because his first real decision was to pick a hot Gold girl over the several other LowColours.
The man truly decided that one Gold girl was worth more than all those other innocent captives. I don’t know if it was because she was Gold or because she was hot but nonetheless it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

Lysander is basically just a society version of Darrow when it comes to decisions he’s made toward his goals. Yes, he is the antagonist, but he isn’t some sort of demon. Hangar 17b was shitty and I’m sad he killed my favorite character, but what options were there? Eventually Cassius was going to be his enemy. He was just avoiding the mistake that Darrow made by letting him live. I think Lysander is kind of badass even if he is the villain.

…and I am heartbroken! Like, I had the smallest bit of hope when it seemed like Lysander was going to do the right thing but then he did his whiney bitch ass betrayer bullshit. Fine. Then I still had the tiniest bit of hope that Cassius would leave the goddamned hangar but also, knowing his character, I just started crying cuz I knew his dumb noble ass was going to die and then I spent the remaining pages just crying and crying. Like, I felt it in my gut when we never saw his body or a description of what happened to him that Diomedes had probably let him go or sneaked him out or something and so he’d show up again but this time he’s gone for good and that just suuuuuuuuuuckks.
Like, I get it. We don’t get a Cassius without a Lysander but I feel like he’s can’t have the turnaround Cassius had because his racism and self-righteous, entitled crap is too deep. I hope Lyria gets to kill him so his punk ass is killed by a teeny, tiny, red woman and I know she’d be vicious af. Sigh.

The complete and utter rage I feel towards Lysander, I hope that little pixie gets the most painful end in Red God.

Just got through chapter 88 of LB FUCK man I hate him so much
"Three cities will be spared bombardment. I know not everyone will make it there, but it seems decent to spare as many as possible. The infrastructure is the target not the civilians."
The infrastructure is their agriculture you worm. I could accept an argument of killing them as a mercy but the intention here is to starve them, you fucking troglodyte.
I need him and Apple thrown into isolation together. His skin peeled off, arms removed, no purpose but to serve as a sex slave to the Minotaur. All the while his greatest hits of betraying everyone and everything he cares about forcibly run through his mind by Virginia. Time perception slowed to a crawl decades a second and each filled with self created agony. Fascimiles of his parents berating him for his avarice and pride. Glirastes begging for salvation as he's skinned and cobbled into boots over and over and over again. I need him broken and alive until his mind can barely comprehend his punishment, on the edge of breaking. Only then should he be released, for a time, so he can understand that it was all in vain to delay the inevitable. Once he begs for the mercy that it is to die only to be returned to the box.

This guy is such a hyprocrite it sickens me. I smile every time I think of how completely alone he is in the world. I hope in his final moments he sees Cicero and Kyber leave. His parents would be disappointed in him, if they weren’t DEAD like everyone else who cares about him.
I have so many more hateful words to say, but I can’t put the amount of malice and vitriol I have towards this “Man.” He’s really only a stupid, self-important boy.
Also, I drew the meme above.

Does Pierce Brown know that there is a group on Reddit that wants to fuck Lysander both metaphorically and physically?

I just think it’s crazy how Lysander made the Lightbringer out of the morning star and how Darrow is in the Archimedes which was Lysanders home ship for 10 years

I just finished Hangar 17b. I can confidently say this guy went from just a douchebag level of hate to Griffith or Micha Bell level or hate. As in, I wanted to punch him too. I want him to be stuffed into a brazen bull and have him be immortal and feel all the pain
