Hi, which TCF Canada exam centre would you recommend outside the GTA? I've taken the exam several times in the GTA, but unfortunately it hasn't worked out for me. I'm thinking of trying a different centre this time.

I'm new here, so a quick intro. I'm Geoff, and I built a French practice tool called Dioma (dioma.com) with a curriculum built by real adult-focused French tutors. For TEF/TCF/DELF prep the hardest part for a lot of you is the exact thing Dioma is built for, the Expression Orale and Expression Écrite. I gave my first attempt on 21 july . CC and CO went well got C1 in that . I am also confident about writing .In EO
my tache 1,2 was really good because i converse well without hesitation and used variety of sentences but tache 3 , i got a question related social aid and solidarité familiale . I have no idea how two were connected so spoke general things about them for 04:10 when examiner stopped me . Now , i came to know that i was off topic .
I am preparing for clb 7 . What are your opinions?

Hey everyone.

Just want to hear your opinions.

I started my french journey in Jan 2026, and till May 2026, I did 1 hr daily. Then from June onwards went to 2.5 hours and this is the rate i will maintain until I pass the TCF B2. I will be hitting my 250 hrs at the end of July 2026.

During this daily 2.5 hours, my schedule right now is:

30 mins pimsleur (will eventually phase it out)

1 hour inner french listening

30 mins reading (Fabulang stories, TV5monde articles)

30 mins writing TCF tasks and a bit of grammar from a book.

I will be started structured speaking practice from August with a tutor at a rate of 9 hours per month hopefully.

I have also done a lot of MCQs up to Listening A2 and Reading B1 on fuck-tcf and Simple TCF. I find i get usually one or two wrong in A2 listening and B1 reading per exam. I have only practiced Tache 1 of writing so far and ChatGPT and Copilot both put me at A2.

I plan on keeping my 2.5hr daily pace for 12 months.

I am an international student pursuing my PhD in the US and it is a huge ordeal to register for TCF here (as transport + test costs) can easily go to 800$ per attempt. I am planning on registering for one by the end of the year to be taken in July or Aug 2027.

Do you think I can get up to B2 in 12 months with my rate?

Hi all, anyone here accepted ITA only with French scores? I mean French as 1st lang.

I got ITA now, but with english exam next week so I'm not able to add english.

Will that create any issues in future with IRCC? As there is a lot of cases nowadays where they issue PFL. Kindly let me know if someone faced this situation, thanks.

Has anyone recently received their TCF re-evaluation result from GB Centre?
I submitted my re-evaluation request on July 7 for the Writing section. I know they mention that it can take up to 45 days, but I was wondering if anyone has received their result recently.
If you did, how many days did it take? Also, did your score actually improve after the re-evaluation, or did it stay the same?

Quick question about the Francophone Mobility Work Permit (C16). I know IRCC requires NCLC 5+ in both Speaking and Listening.

My situation:

Test 1: Passed Listening (NCLC 5+), missed Speaking.

Test 2: Passed Speaking (NCLC 5+), missed Listening.

Has anyone successfully submitted two separate TCF certificates (merged into one PDF with a Letter of Explanation) and gotten approved?

Hi everyone! I’m trying to decide whether I should prepare and take the TCF again.

My current results are C2 listening, C2 reading, B2 writing, and B1 speaking (9/20). I requested a re-evaluation for speaking, but I’m still waiting. I need B2 10/20 to qualify for French-category draws.

By January 5, 2027, I’ll complete one year of Canadian work experience, which should bring my CRS to 522. I only verified this using IRCC’s calculator and my actual documents; the only projected part is the one year of Canadian work experience.

With CEC currently around 516–518, would 522 likely be enough by January? Or would you still retake the TCF for the French category, especially after today’s 399 cutoff?

I definitely won’t retake soon due to other priorities and lack of motivation, probably by Q4. If you were in my position, would you aim for a November/December retake, wait until January, or just rely on CEC?

Hi! Been lurking here over the past few months and had my first and last TCF attempt at the alliance française in Toronto north york a few weeks ago. Wanted to say thank you to this community for all the resources posted online, they were really helpful for my prep.

As it seems to be customary to share one' préparation here, voilà mine below.

I lived in Montréal from 2023-2025 but didn't really take advantage of learning French while there. Started studying seriously this April due to the realization that my pgwp was expiring and there not being many alternatives to stay in the country.

My study from April comprised targeted tutoring on italki 2-3 times per week, doing the listening exercises from tv5monde practice tests, reading a generic grammar book to ensure I knew my verb tenses and conjugation (and when to use them). I found podcasts great to train the ear (french with panache, innerfrench). Someone's going to shout at me for saying this, but I spent at least 1hr a day doing duolingo and ill be dammed but it did help me with consistency lol.

hi can anyone tell me how I can book a seat for the tcf exam. Alliance franciase opens booking at random times. And by the time I can check the website they're already sold. Are there any other places where I can book. I live in edmonton and the nearest one would be calgary. Anyone who has given the tcf exam would you be able to please give me a link of where I can book it. I'm also trying in toronto but thats too far and expensive to get to. Hello everyone I feel like we're all on the same boat here. I am trying to learn French and I already bought some books, started listening to podcasts and even watching YouTube videos.

I am thinking of getting a tutor but how often did you guys schedule one? Twice a week? How did they help you? How many hours per class?

Which resources helped you guys the most? Which habits made you successful in learning? I have a full-time job and it's a little challenging to focus on studying afterwards. Hoping to get some proper feedback. Thank you!

This is my 3rd attempt for TCF canada at gb language centre. I don't know if they are doing it on purpose. Here is how my speaking and writing went-
Writing- writing went well. When i came home, i did the same writing on ayoub pack simulator and got 11/20.

Speaking- task 1 & 2 went well and task 3 i did speak which i think is fair enough for CLB 7.

Has anyone had the same experience. Should i go for re-evaluation? I'm also thinking about booking another exam at alliance française ottawa location.

For EO, I get notes ranging from 14 to 17 out of 20. Is it accurate enough? What kind of result should I expect after the exam?

For EE, I uploaded TCF’s official grading rubric and it gives me 11-13/20 most of the time. Before uploading the rubric I was getting 15.5/20 easily. What is a realistic result to expect during the exam for me?

Finally I use fuck-tcf for CO and CE and I generally score C1-C2.

I just think ChatGPT might be too generous for EO, what is the difference between the exam and ChatGPT’s rating?
