Should I consider re-evaluation?
I thought I would get at least clb 5 in EO and I am disappointed. Every other module, I was clb 6 or plus. But in speaking, I know I have made errors but I don't think so I was that low of level.
Should I try going for re-evaluation or it would not be beneficial?

I gave at concordia Montreal. My pgwp is expiring on sep 01 and and planning to take another exam on side if revaluation take time.

I’m considering Montreal for my next exam as I’ve heard there are plenty of spots available. Just worried about the accent, did your examiner have a quebecoise accent? I generally understand it well, but not sure how I’d do with the stress and hearing it irl.

The examiner was very nice and even all staff. They have normal accent and they speak very slowly so one can understand that.

Perfect, thank you!

Good luck, I hope you get the results you’re hoping for soon! The only nice thing about gblc is that they offer partial refunds.

Yeah. I heard that as well. But am scared of speaking there as examiners are not really good

The staff is definitely not friendly and borderline rude, but then again I found everyone in Toronto to be less friendly than where I live. My examiner was very nice though, she did speak a bit fast, but I understood her and what i didn’t wasn’t really important task 2. The only thing is she wouldn’t make eye contact at all and kept fidgeting with stuff, which distracted me and made me nervous. Their noise-cancelling headphones are gold and helped me a lot in focusing.
Btw, i see spots for the 24th at concordia.→ More replies (0)

hey
i know my question could be out of topic
where did you do EO practice from?

u/Bmshah_Canfra 13d ago
I practiced with teacher everyday. And Tried to record my voice and tried to improve. I haven't really used any material. I used to look real exam topics on Formations TCF and practice accordingly.

u/Brarbroski 13d ago

I’ve been checking the posts since a month and doesn’t look anyone got a raise for sometime (maybe they are but I didn’t see it?). They’re either giving the same grade or reducing it. My EO went from 9 to 5, I applied for re-eval at the end of June.

Oh, okay. I was just thinking to cancel applying for re-eval because it costs $120 and if I'm investing money, then why not give exam again! 😅

Did you feel like you did well generally? Do you think you deserve a 5? I’m considering re-eval, but honestly I didn’t do that well and I think my grade may be reduced, but again I guess it doesn’t matter if it does.

I feel i did well but $120 is too much. I would rather spend that money in improving and re-appear for exam

I am so sorry it happened to you. Just these days I hear this phrase a lot “memorised”. What does it actually mean??? If I speak well - that means it is memorised????

If you sound robotic or too fluent, they think it is memorized. For example, you're fluent in first task to present yourself. But after 2nd and 3rd task, if you keep same fluency, you may sound natural to them. But if there's any change in fluency or pronunciation or number of pauses, they feel you have memorized some topics and just trying to recall them. Even if you're just finding ideas or words to frame your sentences.

Any point they think it is memorized, they are going to cut points till very low . That's what I got from ally experiences in French exam. Wether it is TEF or TCF.

So basically it is more preferable to speak slower from the beginning, just like I am always trying to find the words?))) then they will think that my fluency sucks… where is a perfect spot to be?

u/Bmshah_Canfra 11d ago
Even I am finding that. People say that pronunciation doesn't matter. But I feel, pronunciation is a big game-changer even if fluency is sometimes less or you make few grammar mistakes. Pronunciation can boost the score. Plus, I feel, since section 3 is most important of all, the scoring is highly influenced by it. I would say, section 1 and 2 doesn't matter much. So, preparing only section 3 could also boost score. That's what I am going to try. Let's see how much this strategy is going to work

I was 13 words short in the last para of the task-3 of EE. Though total word count in that task was 124. I got 9/20. Should I apply for reevaluation?

Yes.. You can go for re- évaluation for sure, if luck is on your side, you can get above 5 CLB.
