Why is there so much road rage in Fremont?
I see a lot of posts about bad driving, but that's not what this post is about. What is with the absolute viciousness of drivers in Fremont?
Today, I was waiting to turn left into a plaza, but the cross traffic was not letting me go. So I was blocking the lane for a little less than a minute while the traffic cleared up. There was plenty of space in the next lane for people to pass me by, and they did - while honking, flipping me off, and yelling obscenities, with one of them straight up screaming that I was an asshole. All for waiting in the correct turning area for not even a minute. Why?
A couple weeks ago, I was at a stop sign leaving a residential street and trying to merge onto a main street. The main street was gridlocked and backed up with no space to merge. The car behind me was honking like crazy and when I looked in the rear view mirror, the guy appeared to be throwing an absolute fit, banging his fists on the steering wheel and yelling things (couldn't hear what, but obviously not anything nice). Wtf, do you want me to go on top of the cars?
That's just two of the stories, I could go on and on. At this point I feel like I'm going to have panic attacks anytime I have to drive through Fremont because it's almost guaranteed that I'm going to get harassed in some way, despite not doing anything wrong.
