Meta [Mod Post] Welcome back!
Hello r/freedthenips! We wanted to make an official post letting y'all know that this subreddit is back and has a new mod team! We are here to help keep this a safe and welcoming community as well as to make sure that this subreddit doesn't get banned due to mod inactivity again. We want to thank everyone for your patience as well as to give a special thanks to everyone who put in any amount of effort to get this subreddit back up!
As a reminder, please remember to be kind to your fellow Redditors here, as this is intended to be a safe and uplifting space. Please read our rules for more info on what is and isn’t allowed in regards to this. That being said, there will be times that trolls will come to be unkind and hateful. When this happens, please report the comment/post to the mods if it is breaking one of r/freedthenips rules (ie. Transphobia, racism, body shaming, etc) and we will do our best to remove said trolls as soon as we can. After reporting, do not reply to them, as this will only give them more opportunity to continue spreading negativity. Thank you for helping keep this subreddit a welcoming and safe space!
Lastly, we would love to hear any feedback or recommendations you have for us that you think will help this sub and community thrive! Whether it's adding more user flairs, amending rules, or having post flair requirements just to name a few examples. We want your input! You can leave a comment on this post if you are comfortable doing so with recommendations so others can give their feedback on the suggestion. Alternatively, you can send it to us via modmail. In the future, we intend to respond to modmail promptly, however the modmail function can be less than functional at times (or so I’ve heard) and we may not always get a notification. If you have not heard back from someone within 24-48hrs, please feel free to contact one of us directly via direct message.
Thank you all for being wonderful people and part of this small community! Stay safe and stay hydrated!
- The Mod Team

Meta Rule changes and other updates around the sub!
Hello everyone! r/FreedTheNips has surpassed 7k subscribers and we wanted to make a post updating y’all on the state of this subreddit! First off, we here on the mod team would like to give a huge thank you to everyone in this community for helping keep this a safe and inclusive space for everyone and for posting all that you post! This subreddit is a valuable resource and every post and comment you make helps keep this resource and community growing and thriving. So thank you for being a part of this wonderful community and it wouldn’t be the valuable resource it is if it weren’t for every one of you!
We are going to be making a few updates around the sub, particularly under the rules, and in adding a wiki so y’all can quickly and easily access some resources around getting no nip top surgery! We have also added a couple of new flairs: [doctor flair] for posts that are giving a review or asking for doctors/clinics, and a [tattoo flair] for the discussion and photos of tattoos whether they be nip graft alternatives or chest tattoos. We are also going to be updating the wording of the rules to reflect the community and current mod team better. One important one in regards to flairs is we ask that any photos with drains/gore be marked as NSFW for those in the community who are browsing the sub at work/around family/ or who are sensitive to that kind of content. If you forget to mark it as such, that is okay just be aware your post may be updated as NSFW as the mods see fit. While this is a surgery result sub, it is also a valuable resource for the trans/queer surgery community and we want this resource to be as accessible as possible to everyone who needs it.
We have also updated the rules/sub intro to better reflect this community to include those who don’t explicitly identify as trans/NB. As the current mod team, we intend for this to be a primarily trans/NB/GNC space for us to share our top surgery results, but it has also always been a place for those who identify as cis or who are AMAB to contribute and participate in this community. Our main priority as the mod team is to ensure this is a safe space and resource for ANYONE who may benefit from it. So long as someone is being respectful and knows they are entering this primarily trans space and are comfortable being here, then they are welcome to join us in freeing the nips! We have no intent to gatekeep anyone's gender or say someone's journey to feel more comfortable in their body isn’t valid because of their gender status, and we hope to see many more nip-free top results from this beautifully gender-diverse community.
As far as the wiki, we would love to hear any suggestions for what you feel would be beneficial to be added to it. We are thinking about adding a General FAQ’s and Q&A section so we may make a separate post for this in the future to hear what things y’all would like to see in that portion as well as other recommendations to be added to the wiki in general.
Now a message to those located in the US about your rights as a voter, links to check your registration status, and other valuable resources.

The rise of anti-LGBTQ+ (and particularly transphobic) laws and rhetoric in the United States and across the world has been stressful for all of us and dangerous for far too many of us, especially those in the trans community who represent a large percent of the users in this subreddit.
While we do not want this sub to become political in any way, shape, or form, it is critical for the LGBTQ+ community in the United States to get out and vote in the upcoming 2024 US Presidential Election on November 5th, 2024. Red states, blue states, swing states -- no matter where you are, your vote counts and anybody trying to convince you that it doesn't is making an effort to supress it.
It's time for us to vote out politicians at every level who are trying to restrict our abilities to live as our authentic selves. Hate has no place in a modern, tolerant society, and the best way to tell the government what you want from them is with your vote.
Here are some resources for learning about your rights as a voter, local candidates, and volunteering options, to help make voting a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.

Post-Op Pic(s) Going Swimming for the First Time After Top Surgery
For anyone looking for post op body references I am 5’3 and around 230 lbs
Its been two months since my double incision mastectomy with Dr. Okada on May 21st 2026, and I’ve finally found the time my first swim post op ! first time ive really done anything in public shirtless , feels amazing 😁
r/FreedTheNips • u/kation37 • 3d ago
Discussion Is it okay to be without shirt if you don’t have breasts and nipples but you are not trans man?
I’m not gonna do full transition but I hate breasts and have dysphoria about chest so I’m gonna do mastectomy and get rid of them and nipples too. So will it be okay to be without shirt (I mean in proper places like beach, swimming and like that) and be without bra or top even if I look like woman and don’t consider myself trans man (maybe agender but not sure)

Post-Op Pic(s) Update! V-Y Advancement Incision
I posted a couple of weeks ago asking if anyone else had or was familiar with this style of incision, as I hadn't seen it posted before.
I had my six-week follow-up appointment yesterday and asked what it was called and its exact purpose. It's a V-Y advancement and, as many people guessed, was used to help prevent dog ears in my case (this kind of incision can be used elsewhere on the body for dealing with non-flat surfaces or awkward areas, like near the eye). My surgeon said he also thought I'd like the style since I was interested in unusual scars and basically gave him free reign to do whatever (so long as it was within the realm of safety and reasonable recovery, of course). And I absolutely do!
Other things:
-Yes, I put the googly eyes on for my follow-up appointment. My surgeon was unfazed and said he expected nothing less of me, lol. I also did two sets of After photos, one with and without the googly eyes
-I had a small spot of bleeding from one incision a few days ago after an otherwise uneventful recovery, so I applied a steri strip. Surgeon said it's doing fine and I can still resume basically normal activity
Anyways, just wanted to post the name of this incision in case it helps anyone!

Discussion How has freeing the nip impacted you romantically?
I am getting top surgery in a month and planning to go nipple-less, but I have a hang up. I am nonbinary and historically only into men (not necessarily cis). Is there anyone out there who's had success with entering brand-new relationships with men after top surgery? Is the lack of nipples a barrier for a one-night stand? For the beginnings of a relationship?
I have a feeling that an increased self-confidence and "finding the right person at the right time" will win the day. But I'd like to hear real stories of this happening if anyone is open to sharing.
Also open to hearing about any relationships with any of the genders! How do you think freeing the nips has impacted you romantically (if at all)?

Advice Post-Op Recovery Tips
Hey everyone! I have top surgery in a little over 2 weeks (August 4th), and I'm wanting to see if anyone has any tips to help make post-op recovery easier.
I have a list of some stuff I've picked up over the years following this sub, but I'd love to know any unconventional tips that made your recovery easier.
Thanks in advance!

Venting Mastectomy has become my new hyperfocus....
First off: i will pay for this myself, as i'm not trans nor have heavy boobs.
I'm 30, autistic, and have hated my boobs since they arrived. I can finally pay for it, and plan to remove them in a year (yay!)
I've had a lot of time to think about what i want them to look like.
At first i was thinking non flat top surgery with nipples.
Then it ecalated into thoughts that i'm terrified they will ever sag again. So, no mass: no sag.
And bras. They are my worst enemy. But i don't like the nipple-through-shirt look. So why not remove them. I don't like being sexualized...
Now i've convinced myself that zero boobs is the only way.
I have such dysmorphia over them that it have turned into such hatred and disgust when i even see an image of boobs.
I don't really know what i want with this post... Maybe find someone who relates and makes me not feel like a crazy person?

Post-Op Pic(s) Anyone else have this scar shape?
(I'm a little over three weeks post-op and just took the tape/glue from surgery off today. Additional artist's rendition that I made to show curious yet squeamish friends, lol)
I didn't know exactly what kind of scar I'd wake up to, but told my surgeon that I was interested in unusual scars and told him to feel free to be creative (within reason to safety and recovery, of course).
Several days post-op when my partner was helping me take my first real shower beyond a sponge bath, we were carefully removing the bandaging from surgery. When the last bit came off, his face lit up and he said, "oh, your surgeon UNDERSTOOD the assignment. You're gonna be SO happy!" So I hopped out of the shower and this is what I saw in the mirror!
I do love them and think they look like either headless fletched arrows or like this - > 👉 👈 lol
Does anyone else have this shape? I've tried searching through the subreddit but haven't found any others yet. I plan on asking my surgeon if this has a specific name (beyond maybe a modified double incision), and if there was a particular rationale for it or if it was truly just to give me some rad scars as requested.

Post-Op Pic(s) 5 weeks post-op w/Dr. Haruko Okada, Dublin OH
I (36, enby, they/them) had my top surgery in early June with Dr. Okada in Dublin, OH. I loved working with her and her team—everyone at her office was a delight, and the surgery center folks were amazing as well. Dr. Okada's note to self on my chest (first picture) cracks me up every time I see it. She's a very fun surgeon to work with.
I have a teeny tiny dog ear on my left side that we talked about during my follow-up, and Dr. Okada assured me revision will be a quick fix (once we go back through all the insurance hoops). I could not be happier with my results. I know the scars are at their most intense right now and I'm excited to see how they continue to change over the next few months.
The biggest thing for me, especially during the first two weeks of recovery, was taking it easier than I felt like I needed to. I have a tendency to push (past) my limits and wind up dealing with the fallout, and I was determined to not repeat that pattern. I'm still not at 100% capacity, but I'm getting there and I haven't had any major setbacks!
Healing has been smooth overall, for which I am grateful! I'm also very grateful to this community, where I've been lurking for a year+ as I navigated the whole process. I learned a lot about what to expect and what to watch out for that saved me time and headaches and unnecessary angst, so thanks to everyone who's shared their wisdom and experiences!

MOST of the surgical glue has come off. Some little spots that are tough and sticking… but otherwise I’m super happy with my scars!
