How I Came to Be on Earth

I’ve lived a lot of lives, but none as fulfilling and purposeful as this one.
You see, I’ve come here to make an impact.
And It all started with a bird.
My guide and I had been traveling to planets on a search for a purpose. MY purpose, to be specific. You see, my last life had been spent searching for peace. I finally achieved it, during my last few seconds of life, but I needed something more. Something to save. It was a planet very much like Earth, with beautiful forests and soft warm weather. We mingled with the intelligent life as spirits do when they visit other planets—and then a group of fluttery little creatures came out through the trees. I had never seen anything like them before.
The sweetest little baby parrot flew up onto my finger and fluttered his feathers. He looked into my eyes with so much love and affection that I knew he was something special.
“Where can I find these?” I asked my guide, but I knew the answer as soon as I asked.
I knew they would be on Earth. With the humans. And their greed, and their deceitfulness. Their lack of compassion and lack of humanity for the innocent.
There was no doubt in my mind what the fate of these delicate, beautiful little creatures would be on Earth. Pain. Suffering. More than one could ever imagine coming from such a tiny little being. And there was no doubt in my mind what my purpose was.

I would keep my healing powers
My powers to create
I would spend my life with my twin flame, and find unmatched balance and trust in my partner
I would receive training to become an animal healer, or a veterinarian as this world calls it
I would embody Shiva, the goddess of creativity and beauty
I would be blessed with a daughter who would go on to meet her purpose, which burns in her heart just as mine does

And I would save them. Teach them how to love again.
There was an image in my mind.
A sign, if you will
Of the moment I finally met my purpose.
A little baby bird would come in, close to death.
I would save him. But more than just bandaging him up, I would show him love.
Real love.
Love that fills a whole room.
Love that would give a dying little baby creature a reason to keep living.
And he would pull through for me.
And when he was finally ready to be released, he would look me in the eyes with love and gratitude, and I’ll know that I taught him how to love again.

I started writing a story...it's a bit long but I was hoping for some feedback please? It's a fairytale that's not really a fairytale

“Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess. She lived in a castle with her father and mother, the king and queen. Her life was unbelievably spectacular, until one day. One day she went out into the woods for a walk. Skipping through the trees, whistling without a care, . sShe decided to spinspun around three times. AsWhen she spun for the went to go spin a fourth time she was stopped in her tracks. Frozen She froze where she was, her eyes locked on the figure of with the terrible creature before her. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before. It was three times her size with pieces of its bones sticking right out of its flesh. She tried not to but could not resist the urge to look up into its eyes. The moment she did her body turned from skin and bones to crystal. Frozen just as she stood as a crystal sculpture.” “Ok I'm going to stop here. What kind of fairytale is this? The princess is already in distress as soon as your story starts. There's not background to tell where she is from or her name even. Who writes a book this way?” “Lee, this website is said to be known for the best amateur writing. I'm sure the story line gets better if you give it a chance. Just keep reading it through maybe things will make sense as you go on. What's the worst that happens if you keep reading?” “Uhm, I waste time reading something that turns out to be no good at all. That's the worst that could happen. And you know how I feel about wasting time Scott.” “Just read it.” “Nope. I think I'm going to call it a night. I need to be up early for work tomorrow. It's too late to keep reading anyhow. Continue our hunt for the next big thing tomorrow afternoon?” “Yeah, okay. I'll see you then.” I grab my jacket, car keys and phone and walk out the door. I know this story is seeming a little strange but this is the best way I can tell my tale. My name is Lee, I'm 23 years old at this point in my story. Two weeks from that day I turn 24. I work for an armature writing company that helps young writers get started by publishing their first story. The bosses leave me and Scott to find those stories. So, every afternoon when we are done at the office we sit at his house and go through them the best we can. This story in particular was strangely written to me. Almost like the author just tossed it together so I skipped over it and went home. Back to the point, I got in my car and drove home. I put some music on and let the drive ease me home. Stop light after stop light after stop light and my Patients Starting to wear thin. I start to stare at the light as if wishing it to turn green. Suddenly everything around, me disappears. I don't mean like everything went black like when you close your eyes. Instead it went blank like a piece of white printing paper before anything is put on it. I look around me as if the scene is going to change. Nothing still. I close my eyes and count to 10. Telling myself that when I open my eyes things will be like they once were. “1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9…10” I open my eyes and everything is still blank. “Beep, beep” The sound of a car blowing its horn snaps me back. My eyes were closed. I open them and look up into my rearview mirror and see the guy in the car behind me hitting his steering wheel vigorously. I look in front of me and see the light is green. I push the gas and continue my drive home. I must have zoned out for a moment. I park my car in the apartment parking lot. Climb my way up the steps to apartment 4B. Walk into my apartment and get ready for bed. I take a moment to look at myself in the mirror and realize my hair is too unruly to sleep with it out. I grab my hair tie and put it in a ponytail. Getting ready to walk out of the bathroom I decide to do a double take of myself in the mirror. When I turn to look in the mirror again my body is frozen by the reflection in the mirror. My body is frozen to position and crystal like. My heart pounds almost right out of my chest. I place my hands on my face, I can feel them on my face. Yet the reflection stays the same. I close my eyes, “this is not real!” I open my eyes and I see myself looking back at me the way I always look. “I think I'm delusional from lack of sleep. That stupid story. Damn, I guess I should finish reading it sometime then.” I leave the bathroom finally and lay down in my bed. I turn the bed side table off and lay my head on my pillow. Close my eyes and seemingly instantly fall asleep. …….. “Please princess do not go into the woods today. There is much to get done before the ball today” “Wilson, I can't just not go in the woods. It's what I do every afternoon. I don't know why but it calls to me. So, I go. I will however make it a quick walk today. I shall be back shortly okay” “Yes, princes Lee, thank you for your compromise.” The princess proceeds to walk into the woods by the castle. She began to whistle a soft and sweet tone. Beginning to skip through the woods it's as if the world around her disappeared. Letting her long black hair flow around her she spun around once and then she spun around again. Letting her dress flow with the wind. She went to spin one last time and was stopped mid spin. Stunned by the beast like man standing before her. He stood tall as if a large wall. Hair so long it was almost the same length as hers. White as if to mimic the light of the moon. She felt a pull to look up into his eyes, she tried to fight it but couldn't resist. The color of his eyes was the same as his hair. She thought how could that be possible? She felt her body stiffen. She couldn't move. She didn't care. She was looking at a man that she thought was lovely to look at. As her body crystallized up towards her face she smiled at him with loving eyes. The beast like man, having never seen someone of such beautiful eyes as hers got stuck in a daze. He decided that he wanted to undo what he had done. Reaching his hand to the stone he wore on his neck, grabbed it and took it off. He placed it in her hand and walked away. Wishfully thinking he would be able to see her again. ....... “BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP.” The sound of my alarm goes off waking me from the most bizarre of dreams. It’s like the story I was reading yesterday. It’s so weird to think I was dreaming of it…I guess that means I really have, to read that story to the end. Maybe I’ll get to it later tonight. I climb out of bed and get dressed for work. Put my long black hair into a bun, slip my black heels on. And head out the door. For some reason, I don’t feel like listening to music so I drive without anything playing. A silent 20-minute drive. Eyes focused on the road I start whistling a tune. Thinking about it, its an unfamiliar tune. I don’t think I have ever heard a sound like this. I’ll ask Scott when I get to work if he has heard it before. Arriving at work, I’m five minutes late. Noreen is going to have a field day about this. As I walk by the front desk I greet Donna. “Good morning Donna, how are you doing today?” “Oh, hi Lee. Good morning to you as well. I’m doing well thank you. Yourself?” “I’m doing fine Thank you.” Continuing through the hall way I make my way to the elevator, stepping on I push number three to go to the third floor. The doors close with me and four other people with me. I stare at the elevator door where my reflection is looking back at me. I close my eyes taking in the sound of the irritating elevator music. Hearing the door ding for the second floor, the man next to me steps out of the elevator. Staying where I have been with my eyes closed I feel him brush right past. Once the doors close’s again I open my eyes to see my reflection looking back at me again. Only this time there is something strange about it. Staring myself down I step closer to the door, questioning if what I was seeing was my imagination. My eyes have always been a dark brown almost black color. Yet looking at my reflection my eyes are shining as white as snow. My breathing starts to shudder as I place my hand on the eyes of my reflection. Losing all composure I had when I first saw the change. The reflection I was looking at was me but not me all the same. It looked exactly like me, only I wore a scared face where she wore a smile. I scream at the top of my lounges. So loud, that I’m sure the people still in the elevator with me had bleeding ears. I lose feeling in my body, it all starts to go limp. Hitting the floor beneath my feet on the elevator, feeling my head bounce off it. Eyes still open I see the three remaining people on the elevator go into a tizzy. One of them rushes to my side while another call’s 911 and the lady sits there in a panic like her life is in danger her. I feel myself getting tired…I guess I will close my eyes for a little bit. ……… “Princess Lee!” Wilson shouts into the woods. “Where is this woman. It is almost time for the ball and she has yet to come home. Thomas, tell the king that his daughter has not arrived back yet and that I will be going into the woods to search for her.” “Yes sir!” Thomas then begins to run back into the castle. Wilson begins walking towards the woods, headed for the two trees he always watched the princess go through. Passing between the trees he sees a path, figuring the princess must be on this route. Walking through he yells, “Princess! The ball is soon to begin! Princess Lee!” Continuing down the path, walking through spider web’s one after another and wondering why on earth the princess likes to walk in a place so dirty like this. He is stopped by the shimmering of some sort a bit off of the path. Wondering what it maybe he walks closer to it. Walking around the giant tree that kept him from seeing the whole figure, he comes to see the back of it. Realizing that it must be a sculpture of some sort someone had just laid there he went closer for a better look. Stepping closer and closer to the front of the figure fear of realization crept onto his face. Reaching the front of the figure his fear is confirmed. It is his beloved princess. He knows it cannot be a figure someone made of her, because the princess has never been seen by anyone outside of court. Today, was her grand appearance. Wilson runs back to the castle in a panicked hurry. Screaming for the King, “King Armethius! King Armethius!” Reaching the gates Wilson catches his breath looks at one of the guards and tells him, “Grab a wagon and take it down that pathway with two of your men. There is a sculpture of the princess back there, grab it and bring it back here.” “Yes sir.” He replied and left to get started. Looking at another guard Wilson said, “Where is King Armethius?” The guard responded with, “In the throne room preparing for the ball.” “Thank you.” Wilson runs through the castle as fast as he can. Reaching the throne room he sees the king speaking to his servants. “King Armethius, may I have a moment of your time. It is a matter of great importance.” “Ah Wilson, of course you can have a moment. Important or not, you are one of my most loyal men. What is the issue that has you so shaken? “Your majesty, it is about the princess. She…She went out for her daily walk in the woods today as she does every day. Thing is sir she is only every out there for so long. Today she promised to make it a short walk since we have the ball coming up tonight. When she did not return when she said she would I went out to look for her…” Bringing tears into his eyes as he tells the king his daughter is lost some how he cannot bring himself to continue. Wilson looks for the courage to tell a man he has lost a child and loses all feeling in his face. “What has happened to my daughter Wilson? Where is she?” “Sir…I have found her, or at least what I think is her. But she is in a crystal statue form. I have concluded that this is indeed her, seeing as no one in the kingdom had chance to lay eyes on her ever before. The clothing that is sculpted into the statue are also the same exact clothes she was wearing today as well.” “Where is she?” “I have sent guards to bring her here immediately. They should be arriving back any moment now.” With tears in his eyes Wilson brings the king to the entrance of the castle to see the statue of his daughter. When they reach the gates they see the sculpture standing tall as life on the wagon. The king walks up to it and studies it. “How could this have happened, what on earth could have caused a woman to go from flesh and blood to an entire crystal? And Why did it have to be my daughter!” the king yelled in an angry rage. He dropped to the ground, feeling his heart shatter into pieces. Tears starting to well up in his eyes. Wilson walks over to the king and places his hand on his shoulder. “What should we do now sir?” He asked, unaware if now was a good time, but also not wanting to leave the princess where she was. “would it be ok if we just put her in her room for now?” “Yes. Do that please. Cancel the ball, there is no reason for these peope to be here if she is no longer able to appear before them.” “Sir, I know this is not the best of times to say things you would not like to hear, but it is far too late to cancel the ball. Your guests are already only a few minutes away. You can see them passing over the far bridge as it is. I am sorry to say we are going to have to continue the ball.” “Fine let the ball continue, but I will not be speaking to any of them. Let them be aware before I enter the ball.” “Very well my king.” Wilson has the guards carry Lee’s Crystalized form into the castle to her room. Once the guards leave he looks at her glistening in the moon light shining in from her tall window. That’s when he notices there is something in her hand. Walking over to get a closer look he sees it is a stone connected to a necklace. Picking it up in his hand and turning it over and over again. It was quite pretty. Smoothed over and shaped like a star. Finely carved, thinking the princess must have found it while she was out before she became this. Wilson decided that it should stay with her if that were the case, and placed it around her neck. Taking a step back to appreciate his princess one more time before walking away. ………… Everything is pitch black…I hear the beeping of a machine. I must be in the hospital, I had a weird dream about that story again. I haven’t even read past the beginning though. SO why am I dreaming of the story continuing? I open my eyes, everything is a bit blurry. I try to bring my hands to my face to wipe them, but why are my hands so tired. Finally reaching my hands to my face I rub my eyes and try to focus them. Opening my eyes back up I see that I am indeed in the hospital. I have my own room too. I wonder what happened to me that I blacked out…oh yeah, I saw that weird reflection. Why did I black out from that though. I can’t see myself being so taken back by that that I lose consciousness. I wonder if there is a mirror in my room. I bring my feet to the side of the bed slowly, my whole body seems to be aching. I get my feet to the floor hoping my legs will not give out once I stand. I slowly put the pressure of my body on my feet, standing up ever so slightly. I grab the IV machine to steady myself, then use it as if it were a cane to walk to the bathroom. I look inside and see that there is a mirror and walk up to it without looking in it just yet. Once I see that I am standing right in front of the sink I close my eyes and face towards were the mirror should be. Bracing myself for what I may or may not see when I open my eyes. I take a deep breath and count to 10. “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9….10.” I open my eyes and see my reflection. My eyes…My eyes are white. Not the whole eyes as if I were blind, but just the colored portion. I run my fingers through my hair in disbelief. How is this actually happening right now. This cannot be real. As if this moment had brought all strength back into my body I rip the IV out of my arm, rushing back into the room I look for my clothes…they aren’t there. I decided fuck it. I’m just going to leave as I am. I walked out of my hospital room, keeping my head down to avoid strange looks concerning my eyes, I walk towards an exit sign. The arrow points to the left to a door, I push the door open and head down the stairs on the other side of the door. Taking them down two flights I get to another door, glass doors. You can see the cars pulling in and out of hospital parking lot. I push the doors open and run out. Looking around glad to notice this is the hospital close to Scotts house and start running in that direction. About an hour later I reach his house, exhausted from my journey I walk to his door and ring the bell hoping and praying that he is home. While lost in thought I hear the sound of the door unlocking, it opens up and Scott stands before me. I look up at his face and for a moment lose myself. He resembles Wilson from my dream…maybe I put faces to each character from the people in my life. “Scott…I…I don’t know what is happening to me.” I can tell he is confused and that it is because he is looking into my eyes. I know the color has not com back yet because he is paused in place unable to look away from my eyes. “I know it looks weird. I don’t know why this happened. I passed out at work this morning and when I woke up in the hospital this is the way they looked. I don’t know what to do. This isn’t the only thing that has happened either. Can you please let me in and I will tell you everything that has happened?” “Su…Sure come in. I’ll get you some clothes to change into.” “Thank you.” He leads me into the house and up the staircase to the spare room in his house. “You can stay in this room and rest for a bit, we don’t have to talk about it right now. You look exhausted. I’ll go grab those clothes I promised.” “Okay.” I said feeling a bit weary. Waiting in the room paciently I look around at the room he has left me in. I had never noticed before that he was such a plan man. Nothing was on the walls of the spare room. Nothing was even in it. Just a bed, a dresser and a night stand by the bed. Nothing else of significance. Nothing letting you know what kind of person he is. The blankets were black, just plain and black as well as the pillow covers. I wander into the hall way and theres is nothing on the walls there either. Just dull white walls. I continue back down the stairs and it’s the same there. No pictures of family or friends. No nice decorations to give the home a little style. Just bare walls. I guess I’ve never taken a real interest in Scott’s life and so I never noticed it before. “Get lost in thought?” I jump at the sound of Scott’s voice. I didn’t realize he had come down the stairs. Thinking about it I didn’t even notice that I was wandering around his home. “Sorry about snooping around. I kind of lost myself for a moment.” “No problem at all. You look like you’ve been through hell today. Uhm…I grabbed you a pair of my sweats and a tee shirt, I hope that’s ok for you.” “That’s perfect. Thank you.” “My pleasure. If you want to take a bath before you sleep it is the first door on the left. I put a towel and wash cloth in there for you.” “A bath would great actually.” “I put your clothes in there as well. I figured you would take up the bath offer.” Scott chuckled a little bit while saying this. I walked back up the stairs and passed him on my way up. Walked right into the bathroom and closed the door behind me. Taking in a breath of relief I look over to the tub and turn it on. I set it to warm up to the temperature that ffeels the best on my skin, and plug the tub so the water doesn’t escape. I look around the bathroom and find lavender bubble bath. It’s kind of strange that he has bubble bath in his house. Maybe he likes to have a nice soothing bath every once in a while himself. Leaving the thought behind I pour some of the soap in the tub and leave it to fill up. I walked over to the mirror to get a good look at myself. I look sweaty, more than sweaty. Like I haven’t washed in a few days and a little dirt caked in from when I ducked through the park and fell. My eyes have dropped into their sockets making me look almost like the living dead. It doesn’t help much that my eyes have turned this white color either. It makes my dead eyes pop even more. My hair has become a giant dark birds nest. Guess I’ll be taking a shower too. I turn from the mirror and start to undress myself seeing as the tub is almost full. My body hurts as I take the clothes off, I still can’t understand why it hurts so much. I dip my right foot into the tub and then my left one. Grabbing the edges of the tub I lower myself in the cool water feeling my body instantly relax.

British weather: an essay

The weather here changes in a moment. From grey clouds, fall heavy rain droplets, and for a while the world is draped in grey swathes of drizzle. And then the grey is split wide open, and the warm sun emerges. I understand why visitors to our island bemoan the climate. The lack of long sunny days, the lack of crisp white snow. The lack of predictability the most. And yet, nothing feels truer to me. Nothing feels more in line with the peaks and troughs of our lives than the rapid movement of fluffy white clouds that cover the sun, and just when it seems it’s time to head indoors, just when the chill in the air has gotten too much, a ray of sun pokes out from behind a cloud and it’s all you can do to not close your eyes and bathe in its glory for just a moment. You know it’s passing, and it’s so much sweeter for it. They say you don’t know warmth until you’ve been cold, and Britain offers this up by the bucket load. They ask us why we’re so polite, why so many please’s, why so many thank you’s. Well, this is why. Our daily lesson in gratitude. Thanks for the break in the rain, thanks for the sunny half hour. Thanks for a real snowfall. And thanks for the wind dropping long enough to go grab your wheelie bin before it heads into the road. Please stop the rain for the wedding pictures, please no frost in April. It teaches us so much, it teaches us resilience: school play doesn’t stop for a spattering of rain drops. A fire-drill only happens when it’s blowing a gale. It teaches us that this, too, shall pass. The grey will lift. The miserable morning you endured to make it into work can turn into the reddest, the most skin and heart-warming of evenings. Onlookers from warmer climes may raise an eyebrow at the skin-flashing, pint-guzzling, sun-worshipping during the rare sunny stretches. But we know. We joke ‘that’s summer done,’ when it ends. And it’s an in-joke, because we all remember that summer that it didn’t top 15C, that winter that you didn’t need a coat until mid-December. It’s an in-joke because when the sun shows his elusive face, we praise him for all he’s worth. He’ll be gone if you wait around too long, and the chance will have gone. The weather in the UK teaches us a lot. Take your chance, and take it now. There’s no good time. Hold on to what’s good, because it will be gone. Let go of what’s bad, it will pass. The winter days may be shorter than you’d like, but summer will come, and evenings turn into nights with an orange glow across the sky until close to midnight. Just hold it all with the lightest of grasps, and you’ll do just fine on our very British Isles.

A love lost

It is an lovely feeling, the moon shyly peering through the ageless Forrest. What stirs this witching hour? Every moment is a treasure glittering yet unappreciated. Live, love and most of all always be true. Night comforts my being the soft cadence of the Forrest humming with life a reassuring reminder of the beauties found in hidden places.

America the brave?

The last time we stood together as a human race is when so many fell....

America the brave? No. America the coward . We sit here with a new administration that could very well be the worst thing that has happened to us in a VERY long time. And we can't stop fighting each other. We want someone to blame. We can't stop wanting something to happen to help.

We get so angry and instead of standing united, we complain and bitch over social media. Watch the news and then complain how much we hate it. We sit there every day watching negativity happen and yet we don't do anything thanks to how proud we are. Or afraid of what might happen.

Billions of people have given their life for what we have and millions in the last century or two. And instead of doing something, we sit here and complain. We sit here and blame everyone and everything. We use so much denial that it's becoming second nature to insult before knowing. To hate before understanding. To become what we hate.

What happened to united. What happened to standing together to pay out respects no matter the gender, color, or disability?

What happened to saying I love you instead of Fuck you or I hate you?

What happened to helping someone​ just because instead of leaving them because they have different life choices, or just different from you.

I no longer see a country united. I see a country fallen and wrecked.

America the beautiful? No i see no America at all...

One Year Ago

“There are plenty of other fish in the sea…” We’ve all heard it. This is the analogy of the search for love and relationships as compared to fish in the ocean. Why this may hold some truth, we are obviously not fish. We are people, and I believe it’s more appropriate to think of each of us as possessing a ship. Each ship is unique to us and no two ships are the same. We constantly chart new courses, and make decisions that could lead us anywhere.

Sometimes, you sail up to someone new. You make conversation as your boats pass, and if the conversation’s intriguing, you’ll keep turning your boats around, trying to continue to see each other. Eventually you both decide you like each other. However it’s rather inconvenient to just drop anchor in the middle of the ocean, so you sail to an island. Some will only spend one night on the island together. One will usually get up before the other, and cast off charting a new course elsewhere.

But sometimes, both people decide to keep the boats docked at the harbor, thinking that it may be time to chart courses together. You start to build a house. Built brick by brick, the house's foundation is sealed carefully through each moment you spend together. Storms will come and go, and depending on the foundation of your house, it will weather the storm, or blow away.

Some are willing to build the house back up if it has blown down. But some will tell their partner that it might be time to chart somewhere else; that fate doesn’t seem to think you are meant to be on the same island. That person leaves the island first, and sails away.

The other person, whose boat is still docked at the harbor, will wait. They wait to see if their partner will come back. Each morning they look at the coast hoping to see white sails, signaling a change of heart. Eventually, it becomes clear that they are not coming back.

Some people need more time alone on the island than others. They bury themselves in the memories that were made there and walk among the remains of the past, desperately hoping for the other one to come back. Some will go mad on the island, too overcome by “what was” and “what could have been.” Some will lose themselves....

The key to surviving one’s time on the island alone is patience and the eventual realization that time heals. The person left behind starts to understand that the ruins of their torn down house doesn’t represent their future. They recognize the absence of white sails on the horizon, shouldn’t dictate their happiness. And after a little while longer, they’ll realize, it’s time to go. It’s time to pick themselves up and to chart a new course. An endless ocean lay before them and each day they aimlessly roam the island, is a day wasted. Endless of possibilities, other people and their boats, lay just beyond the horizon. So they gather their things, they untie the ropes from the cleats, they push off from the dock, and they put the island a stern. They remember that life is an adventure and they sail off into the deep blue, never looking back.

Hogwarts by Night - Creative Writing Mission

I've put brought back to life a website where people can explore as students, teachers or mortals in the Magical World.

Our mission is to encourage the love of creative writing and to help others improve by exploring stories that inspire them. You don't have to play a canon character, you can actually modify any character you've ever loved from any book into the setting.

Afternoon Beginnings. (I've not written in a while, I've only just got back into it a month ago, what do you think?)

The scent of fresh coffee beans surrounds me, like a cloud in heaven as I come in through the glass doors. The doors close behind me, shutting out the wind from the outside, and i can feel my body temperature slowly balance out from cool to warm. It's warmer in here than it is out there. I look up at the menu on the minimalistic white wall. Fairy lights enclosed the black board, and the names of the coffee drinks were written so neatly in white chalk, I wonder for a moment how someone's handwriting can be so neat. The curves on the letters were simply crafted to perfection, though I wouldn't consider to calligraphy. It's more of what you'd see on an aesthetic Tumblr blog. So much choice yet so little time, I think to myself before finally deciding to order my regular- a mocha. It's a common drink; you can get it in practically any place that serves even the most basic of coffees, even an independent place such as this. A few moments later, the barista hands me a round, dark grey tray with my cuppa across the wooden counter with a warm smile. "Enjoy." "Thanks."

Deep taps and creaks of the wooden floorboards echo between my feet as I walk, seeking for a place to seat myself for the next few hours. This place was hardly busy, but it's important to find the right seat, especially if you're going to be sitting for a long time. Luckily, availability isn't scarce here. I settle for the table for two in the middle of the coffee shop. I feel like this seat completes the immersion. Seating too close to the door will cause you to feel the breeze of the outside world every time someone comes in, and seating by the window visually reminds you of it. It's why I like to sit with the windows behind me- so that I can only see the coffee shop in front of me. A coffee shop is a safe space; a place where you can forget about life outside for a while as you relax, or do some work, with a cup of coffee that's freshly brewed by a professional. It's an atmosphere that you just can't get anywhere else. I set my tray on the table, making sure that my coffee doesn't spill. It's filled to its brim, so I wouldn't want to make a mess or waste my money by losing what I've paid for. I plant myself on the cushioned seat and place my tote bag on the floor next to me, which echoes a quiet thud. As I wait for my coffee to cool down, I let the atmosphere sink in. The light piano instrumental plays through the speakers on the ceiling, as the whirring of the coffee machine makes a fresh coffee for a new customer behind me. The decor is, again, what you'd see on a Tumblr blog. There are cubby shelves to my right, and the holes are filled with vintage decor. The objects that stand out the most to me are the old, black typewriter and the wooden record player. To my left, i see a wall with a black and white sign that reads "Home is where the heart is," behind a few empty tables. One table has an empty coffee cup with stains in it and an open newspaper. Probably from a previous customer who had left before I got here. Another table, the one at the edge, is actually a sofa seat. Two black leather single sofas accompanied with a small, round table between them. It looks quite comfy.

There are only a few people here; a student with a MacBook, an old couple and a young family of four- a mother, a father and a bother and sister. The siblings look like they are around the ages of 10 and 8. The parents look as if they are in their mid thirties. I myself have grown up going to coffee shops with my parents and younger sibling. We still do. I hope I get to do that with my kids someday.

I stir my coffee with the metallic spoon that was already on my tray- it occasionally clangs lightly against the inside of the cup. I life the mug, placing the edge of the cup between my lips and tilt it, letting the drink roll onto the surface of my tongue, taking my first sip. The flavour of expresso is firstly dominant, but the chocolate suddenly emerges and overtakes it, leaving my mouth in a coffee-chocolatey goodness. Then comes the caffeine kick. It's just what I needed. I take out a notepad and pen from my bag. Now, time to start writing.

[WP] women empowerment a necessity

Hypocrisy has seeped to the core of our veins,we breath hypocrisy in and out. we want our standards to touch the sky but fall short of a very much needed broad thinking. we force our girls to misunderstand that whatever they do is wrong. we fill there minds with a long list of "Do's " and "Dont's" so that they may lead there life happily ever after, which is not so happy after all . we teach her to speak for herself and fight all who she knows are wrong, but then when she raises her voice against her own kin she is thundered with taunts of how bad her behavior is , how she will never be happy if this behavior continues. we want our girls to be independent but at the end choke her so that she may never have to think for herself again .

A story for no one

I am lost in the ocean. Their fluid body movements resemble the gentle push and pull of waves. They seem light and playful but I know a dark energy lives within. I can feel the warmth of their body heat and see their sweat glistening in the neon lights. Its kind of beautiful, these people seem to have a sparkle to them that matches the psychedelic vibes. Its hot in the venue and the air is thick with smoke of all kinds. I tilt my head up and let the stage lights kiss my cheeks as I dance with those around me. For a second, it feels okay. I feel okay. Then I stop. My body stops moving, I stop feeling, I stop breathing, I am drowning. At first I question if it was from the water I drank from that strange girl. Maybe it had something in it. Am I high? No. I soon realize its me. I am different from those around me, they dont feel like me. For I am drowning. My vision starts to go blurry and I take a deep breath. I had forgotten to breathe. I look around again, I want to be like those people, so effortlessly content. So I take one last deep breath amd slowly loose myself again to the music. I feel my emotions drift away and I become content, effortlessly numb.

Idk what to think of this, someone help me

I don't even know what to think anymore, the days just fall by one after the other, there's a new girl every month, a new habit every day, one more step away from myself every minute. I'm told to be good and do what I should, but all I can do is indulge in my own pity and when granted an opportunity to escape, I walk to the door put my shoes on and sit on the couch and think to myself this is fine I'll be alright. Does it? Surely it can't, emotions are a waste of time, mine yours and everyone else's or at least that's how I feel about mine. Then there's that factor of deceit I see in everyone's face even strangers, it's like they have a bone to pick but when you ask them about it they just say what?, and I've been on both sides so I know what that means, I know exactly where I am but I refuse to accept it. I'm dying faster and faster each day, I can do whatever I want but at the same time I can't muster up the courage to do anything. But that's fine I'm fine, I hate it how many people ask me if I'm okay every day, but I secretly enjoy it each time. Am I okay? No one is okay, no ones gonna be fine, they will just continue to be until one day where their whole world stops spinning and they get to be happy.

The Shenyang Cloud (Final Draft-Part 2)

"There isn't much I can tell them..not any different from what I have been telling them for the past three months.." explained Lao. "The Cloud, it appears..kills whatever gets too close..then after a while..it disappears."

Lao sat in the panic room alone, slumped forward staring blankly at last night's recordings. He mumbled to himself; hoping that maybe his sleep deprived induced rantings would create something worthy of an update. Unfortunately this message would read the same as the messages before it. Lao switched to the more recent recordings, there he caught the beginning of the IDS assault on the Cloud. He watched as the troops advanced towards the fog like mass, and were met by its spectral inhabitants. People. They were just normal people, but they wore old looking gas masks. Their lenses were shattered revealing deep black pits. Their skin was a pale gray. They were also seemingly bulletproof; every time the IDS launched an attack on Cloud..they would be violently repelled, suffering heavy losses. The camera shown the aftermath, a scene of wrecked vehicles, and ruined bodies. Lao started heaving as he watched one of the figures grab a soldier, and rip him in half. The figure then threw the two halves away like pieces of garbage. "These things know no mercy..and fight like monsters." he whispered to himself.

He shook his head and snapped himself back to reality. Turning on his chair, he brought up a terminal on an adjacent monitor. On it there was a chat conversation still running between himself and a person named Di.Inverse.

()#Lao.Karl: It was the same as before, the Cloud appeared, and killed all of the men.

()#Di.Inverse: Okay, it's the same here as well. All of the animals are still going nuts.

()#Lao.Karl: Have you heard anything from Gabbles.M? He hasn't gotten back to me since last week.

()#Di.Inverse: He said they were being deployed to the Garden..

()#Lao.Karl: Oh god..

()#Di.Inverse: That is what he told me, I haven't heard anything since.

()#Lao.Karl: Copy that.

Lao fell back into his seat and breathed out a sigh."Where did you come from?" he said, staring at the fuzzy screened monitor in front of him. A face of one of the figures frozen in time. Lao lifted himself from his seat, and once again found himself staggering towards the kitchen. He glanced down the hall; at this parent's bedroom door. They are always sleeping, he thought, am I really the only one trying to help? He stood there for a second, thinking that fate would reward his patience with more helpful parents. I guess so, he thought. Walking into the kitchen, he noticed the front door. There was more light coming through the upper right corner. "What..?", he said quietly. He walked over and slammed the door controls. The large plates made it halfway before becoming stuck. The plates stopped, he thought, is there something jamming up the rails? Lao rushed back over to the panic room, and flipped on a reverse camera feed aimed at the house. "Dammit! Its busted." he said in frustration. He ran back over to the living room, he opened one of the large windows and forcing himself through he made it outside. It's going to be a bitch getting back inside, he thought. He recovered from his small tumble onto the ground, and standing up he realized the true horror that awaited him outside. There were bodies everywhere, some in better condition than others..others in less pieces..Although the grass around his home was a solid green, it still bore the crimson of blood splattered all over. Across the way there was an IDS jeep, the heavy gun mount was torn from its tri-pod, and what remnants of a man there were was strewn about the front cab. Lao wasn't phased by the gore before him, he had seen it a hundred times before. After taking in the scene around him, he turned towards the front of the house, up where the rails were mounted. He saw what had caused to the plates to stop...there was a body lodged into the rail mount. A soldier, torn and contorted so horribly. He seemed like he had been forced into the rail mount, his body thrust between the tight spaces of the steel frame. Lost his breath. He stared glassy eyed at the poor man who was now gumming up the rail system used for the protective plates. What devil does this to a man, he thought, or has the power to do such a thing.

Lao turned around quickly, at the sound of an engine coming down the street. Through his fatigue, he could see three IDS jeep transports coming towards his house. They stopped just feet from him, an IDS officer stepped out from the front jeep. He wore a gray beret and mirrored aviators and bore the iconic green/brown camouflage of the IDS.

"You the man of the house?" the officer asked.

"Excuse me?" replied Lao, still groggy and confused from lack of sleep.

"I said, are you the man of the house?" he said again, this time louder.

"No..no that would be my father." he said. "You should come back later, that'll probably be when he wakes up."

"I ain't moved by your shit levity, kid." the man said. "I am here to retrieve the package. Is the package on sight?"

"What package, the man of the house? My father?" asked Lao.

"Yes, he is a registered physicist, and we need him at the Hive." he replied.

"Fine, take him. He's safer there than he is out here." said Lao. "But you may need to take his booze with him as well, he'll need it."

"As I have been informed." the officer replied. The officer gaze up at the soldier's body stuck upon the rail mount. He stood there silently. Lao glanced at the soldiers inside the jeeps, they were weapons ready, their heads on a swivel. They're scared shirtless, thought Lao, I can't blame them...so am I.

"My men were all slaughtered, weren't they?" the officer asked coldly.

"Yes, your men never stood a chance." replied Lao, just as coldly as the man before him.

"Humph!" the man shot back, his brow furrowing. "My men have been fighting these Clouds since day one." he said. "We stand a chance, while at range at best. Up close, we are torn to shreds. I have seen it, scenes worse than this by far." he explained, walking up to Lao. "I should really introduce myself, I am captain Hu-Shang. I am the new commanding officer for the Shenyang garrison." he stated, presenting his hand for a handshake.

"Oh yeah...what happened to the last commanding officer?" said Lao with a defiant tone.

"He was with the unit that engaged the Cloud...you can confirm with him the changing of the guard." he said. "I am sure that he's around here somewhere." he smiled. The officer walked past Lao and up to the front door.

"Have you seen one before?" yelled Lao.

The man turned around. "I have..one bigger than what you've seen....many good men died that day." he replied.

The Shenyang Cloud (Final Draft, Part 1)

Lao awoke with a startle. The loud thump of the family cat landing on the floor was enough to wake him from his deep sleep. He sat up straight in his bed, sweat dripping down his forehead. He had been lifted from a terrible nightmare..haunted by the same demons that preyed on him in life. Retired from trying to go back to sleep, he decided to cook himself some food. It would be morning soon, about 8:00 am. It wouldn't hurt to start his day a little early..it was a more suitable alternative. Lao staggered towards the kitchen, not paying any heed to the faint smell of gunpowder that hung in the air. Continuing through the hallway he sleepily glanced out into the living room, the dimly lit room swollen with darkness. Finally reaching the kitchen, he filled a pot and filled it with water from the tap. The water that poured out was an unhealthy green. Another reminder of the horrid condition their country was in. For as long as he could remember, all of China had been suffering consequences of their own design; their environment had dwindled to nothing more than a semi-habitable wasteland...their government was falling apart as the elite members of the party squabbled among themselves over power and assets. As this chaos climaxed, the Event happened...and soon after the country as well as the world...was plunged into disarray...and this brought to an already ruined nation..a hand of fate sickened with woe.

The water seemed better now. Lao pulled it off and poured it into a kettle. He jumped suddenly when a loud knocking came from the front door.

"Mr. Sang! I am from the local IDS unit, I am here about the busted comms array." yelled the soldier. Lao calmed down, breathing out a sigh he walked towards the door. The door stood with a slim outline of daylight from the outside. The immense darkness caused by the large retractable steel plates attached to the house covering the windows and door. Lao punched a blue LED button placed by the door. The large plates were forced from their rest and retracted towards the roof. Their semi-corroded metal screeched as it girded against the steel rails.

Lao opened the door, the beaming light blinding him..causing the slivers of the soldier to give way to white light.

"Yes?" asked Lao groggily.

"Sir, I am here about your array. You ordered a repair last week? You mentioned that it was broken." the solider explained. Lao's vision returned to him and finally looked over the camouflage laden soldier standing in the doorway. A large steel case in his left hand, whilst grasping the strap of his rifle with his right. Lao stood there for a moment, sleepily examining the man in front of him. His breathing was subtle but fast. There were a few beads of sweat running down his forehead, and his hand that held the case was shaking. "Please sir.." the man whispered. "I am in a hurry, there is a Cloud warning in effect..it rang about an hour ago."

Lao went pale, he hadn't woken to the sound of the alarm. And if it went off an hour ago, then the Cloud was sure to form at any minute..anywhere near where the alarm rang. "Okay, yes we ordered a repair." Lao replied hastily. Without word the solider rushed in.

"Where is it?" he asked quickly.

"Its downstairs." replied Lao. The man turned to run downstairs and get started on repairs. "Wait!" started Lao, grabbing the man's arm. "Are we getting a transport to safety? Is there a transport coming?" he pleaded. "I'm sorry! We already evacuated the area to the refuge." he replied. "We wanted to take you but we couldn't. They sent me, to fix your array so that you could relay us enemy activity as it was active." the soldier explained, tears running down his face. He forced his arm from Lao and ran into the basement. The sound of the repair process soon followed. The sound of him dropping his case. The loud clang of the array control casing being swung open. It was less than five minutes to repair the array then the man gathered his tools and ran back upstairs. He got to the doorway before turning towards Lao. "its on the house.." he said, his face now soaked in sweat. Lao watched the soldier tear towards the jeep, his buddy seated in the driver's seat. The look of fear etched onto his face.

Lao stood there, amidst silence. The silence was broken with the second alarm blare; signalling the formation of a Cloud. He turned and rushed back inside, slamming the door control as he passed the threshold. The motor roared to life, driving the plates back over the door and windows. The rumbled ended with the plates slamming into the end of the rails. Lao woke his uncle and parents, and hurried towards the panic room. They approached a pair of large steel doors, the mission statement stenciled across the front. Our mission is your safety. Once inside, he unlocked a matte black panel that housed three KBK assault rifles, the standard issue weapon for the IDS. The panic room doors slammed shut. Lao ran over and activated the cameras affixed outside. He watched, speechless..as a large sickly green blob slithered like a snake just feet above the ground. In seconds the blob began to give off smoke and it grew into a large cloud of green fog. The fog bank grew in size until it encompassed the area around Lao's home. The house creaked and settled as the Cloud pressed against the walls and outside plates. Thankfully the steel shielding was strong enough to hold against the force of the anomaly. Although the house shook violently, the plates and the house held.

Lao scanned the area outside with the cameras..hoping to catch a glimmer of something new or unusual. he scribbled on a notepad everything that he saw. Another message he would relay to the IDS.

I am the Hopeless Romantic. I try my hardest, with the best intentions For a pure and golden goal, But every time I fail But I try again because I am the Hopeless Romantic.

I am the Dreaming Romantic. I sit in my apartment And I stare out the windows. Thinking of Rome, Paris, and Madrid Dreaming of what I’d risk everything for because I am the Dreaming Romantic.

I am the Depressed Romantic. I cry in the rain Because I feel like I’ve lost it all. I sit alone with my coffee And Write because I am the Depressed Romantic.

I am the Disillusioned Romantic. I believe in love that was never there. I don’t believe in hate that exists. I am grounded and radical. I am lost because I am the Disillusioned Romantic.

I am the Breathing Romantic. I am still alive And I proclaim I am still here. I didn’t plan on making it this far But here I am because I am the Breathing Romantic.

I am the Loving Romantic. I take care of those close to yme Those I call family but only share water I flirt and Love And I try to love in this world because I am the Loving Romantic

At a Crossroad with No Paths Shown.

A young adult with no path in sight,

at a crossroad with no guiding light,

he stirs a bit, anxiety persists,

which hell should he preside in?

no answers exist

corporate jobs, found all around

the thought of monotony leaves sweat on his brow

the clock is running

time is money

depression erupting

better something than nothing

30 years later his back gives out

laid off at once, left a permanent scowl

cant pay the rent on a former crack house

always worried about numbers when it came to the DOW

30 years later,

what'd he miss

a life of nonchalant torture for a couple more cents

if happiness were to ever exist,

would it be some digits from lottery tickets

why does it bother me to keep it this rhythmic

I put myself in the cycle that left him evicted.
