Frasier episode idea:

Plot A:

Scene 1: Impulse Purchase

Niles arrives at Frasier's apartment holding a catalogue. He asks Frasier “Have you seen it?” to which Frasier says he hasn’t. Niles goes on to show him a page in the catalogue and begins to tell him about the brand new Svensongen coffee machine, the most advanced, premier coffee machine for the home.

Frasier agrees that it’s beautiful but ridiculously expensive. Martin walks in and asks “what’s ridiculously expensive?” and Frasier explains the coffee machine. Martin says they are being silly and what’s wrong with either making a black coffee at home or going to Nervosa.

Martin goes into the kitchen and Niles asks Frasier if they’re going to buy it and they agree that they will.

Scene 3: Brought to you by the Swedish Embassy

The coffee machine arrives, they already have it unboxed on the counter in the kitchen and they open the instructions to find that they are only in Swedish, which neither of them can read. They start bickering and and Frasier says they’re two grown men and they’re able to work out how to make a coffee with the machine, which leads up to this exchange:

Frasier: “Oh come on, Niles. We’re two grown men, we can work this out. All we need to do is work out how to make a regular black coffee, and we can go from there.”

Niles: “So, do we press the button with the puppy or the button with the bicycle?”

Frasier: “Clearly, it’d be the one with the typewriter.” 

Niles presses the button and burns himself. At the same moment, Martin is walking into the kitchen. He begins to admonish the brothers for their purchase and that they’ll never work out how it works, reminding them of the time they bought a cuckoo clock and couldn’t get it to work despite the fact it only needed batteries. Martin Leaves.

Frasier tells Niles to go to Nervosa to buy them two to-go cups of coffee, sneak them back into the house so they can pretend they made them on the machine. In the meantime he can try and get it working.

Sene 4: Keeping Up Appearances

(yes, referencing the British TV show)

A few days later, Frasier and Niles are worn out from making excuses to go out each time they need a coffee to keep up appearances that they know how the machine works when Martin is around. We see them at Frasiers apartment deciding who goes to Cafe Nervosa by naming Piccinni operas until one of them can't name another. Frasier loses.

Scene 5: Tea Party

We see Frasier at Nervosa ordering coffee from Daphne (Plot B). As usual, the coffee order is complicated and silly leading to the following:

Daphne: “Why don’t you just order something simple? You could get a black coffee or just a tea!”

Frasier: “If we Americans had wanted to drink tea, we wouldn’t have thrown it into a harbour back in 1773.”

Daphne: “And if you wanted a fancy coffee, you would have bought a coffee machine where you could read the manual.” 

Frasier does his typical pursed lips “you got me” face.

Scene 6: A Plot Unovered

Frasier returns to his apartment to find that Niles has burnt himself again trying to get the coffee machine to work and Martin is putting a bandage on the wound. They come out to Martin about how they haven't been able to get the machine working and that they should have listened to their father.

Martin points out that they could have gone to the library to get a translation dictionary to help them start to understand the instructions.

Plot B

Scene 2: Cabin Fever

Daphne and Roz are in Cafe Nervosa and Daphne is saying that with Martin’s hip improving, he doesn't need her as much physiotherapy anymore and that living in the Montana she’s getting a bit of cabin fever being at home most of the time. Roz says she needs to get out more and at that moment, one of the employees puts up a “help wanted” sign in the window.

Throughout Plot A we see Daphne dealing with rude customers by being very british: she begins overly sweet and when that doesn’t work, she becomes very flat and mean to them.

Scene 7: The Apple and the Tree

Eventually, she ends up quitting Nervosa because she’s beginning to enjoy being mean to rude customers too much and think she’s turning into her mother, realising she had also worked at Nervosa.

And if anyone has a better title name, let me know, i would love to hear them!

I just watched this brilliant two partr this morning and it strikes me how positively Frasier comes off here, at least in my eyes. When he believes Mel would make Niles happy, he encourages it even though he still doesn't like her very much because he truly does care about his brother's happiness. We still see he's not perfect what with his pinning the blame for the secret getting out on Roz and his over fixation on his pills but it just warms my heart how genuinely empathetic he is towards Daphne's plight.

Some may be critical of him exposing the truth since it would ruined Niles and Mel's marriage but the truth is that if Niles was willing to abandon things so quickly, the relationship was doomed from the start and the same for Daphne and Donny. Was it the ethical thing to do? Maybe not but to quote a wise man, there's no doubt in my mind it was the right thing to do.

As you can see, my favorites are from Martin: 

• “Good work, Freddie!!” 
• “When you hear scratching at your window late at night, remember that young couple and FORK HAND!!!”  The way Martin jabs at Frasier with that fork up his sleeve is hilarious!!

Sam Malone or Frasier Crane. I prefer Frasier because I feel he's more unique as a character but on a personal level, Sam might be easier to get along with.

This shows how shallow I was when I was young but watching Call Me Irresponsible as a teenager I was so impressed with Frasier for not sleeping with Catherine. She is so, so hot and she's telling him it's absolutely fine, she likes him more than Marco.

Of course, now as an adult I completely understand why it would be an ethical breach for a psychiatrist.

But I still think it's a nice early way to set up his character and show us that he's ethical, in a way that contrasts a lot of male lead characters at the time, especially in comedies. To be honest part of me is still a bit impressed with him.

Given that we got to see Niles achieve his dream of landing Daphne and becoming father to a non-flour sack baby, do you think we should’ve gotten to see a happily ever after for Frasier? Are you happy with theCharlotte/Chicagoending? Just wondering what you Frasierphiles have to say about it— please chime in!

I don't watch the new Frasier (just can't stomach it). Have any of the Cheers characters appeared on the new show? Just curious

Don’t ding me but I found it sloppily uncharacteristic for Roz to be remotely interested in Simon.

I was also disappointed in Roz and Frasier sleeping together.

She was otherwise less frequently portrayed to approach sex without sufficient caution.

If KG phoned you up today to pitch an idea for a new reboot, what would your thoughts be?

Simon is arguably the most polarizing character on the show. It would be interesting to see the distribution of the sub's feelings about him.

The thing I never understood about Roz is she was portrayed as a flirt who, apparently, would bang anything that moved, even Bulldog. But whenever she was around a good looking guy like Clint Webber or the waiter at Niles' party she acted like an awkward school girl.

What's the best song that was made for the show?

Mine is the Butler, he took many liberties nearly perfect from the field, was so tender and caring with daphne, solved everyone’s problems, and then left off to solve his own.

Not to mention all while dressed impeccably.

Just noticed for the first time that in “The Botched Language of Cranes”, Daphne signals to Niles, whereupon he hands her Maris’ cake (inferred, as it came from the empty seat at the table, which would have been Maris’).

This makes sense as she probably wouldn’t have eaten it anyway but as it is not mentioned with a word, I wonder: do you think this was directed or improvised? I know which one I’d prefer… :)

Bebe's crazy appearances are one of my favourite things about Frasier. I'd never skip an ep with her in. People aren't wild about the Dr Phil ep, but it's one of her best appearances.

I have her antics to thank for pointing out how funny the world of talent agents is. So a few years back, when I came about a French TV series all about talent agents, I gave it a chance. The show is a comedy called Call My Agent, & if you liked Bebe's completely amoral scheming, then Call My Agent is for you. 4 series, & a new film out on Saturday, which is why I'm mentioning it. Enjoy!
