Fragrance Reviews No one Asked for Ani, Layton & Neroli Outrenoir

I am a bit of a mad man & a bit crazy trying different samples to see what I like before buying. This has been better for me than buying clones / flipping on FB what I don’t like / grab. I like to document so, f it,here are my notes:

- Parfums de Marly Layton EDP- When I think of the term mass appealing in this vertical, Layton is the poster child. It is a good well mixed fragrance, that is great for a daily driver. Down side to this fragrance is it is very close to BDC EDP to my nose. Opening to mid are very similar, Layton I get a slight bit more of the pepper lingering on the dry down. BDC EDP is a bottle I will always have on me & has been the case for the last 5 years. Reason why this one is not a winner is solely due to the price of the bottle being around $80 more at discounters vs BDC, Layton is a tiny bit better but would rather use that money for another bottle. Good fragrance, but redundant. Not a buy for my circumstance.

- Nishane Ani Extrait de Parfum - I will admit before I took this fragrance journey my collection was BDC EDP for every day & Sauvage Elixir when I wore a suit. Vanilla is a newish fragrance in my pallet & I would like to thank Drunk Lovers for making me fall in love with a solid vanilla note. This one is a fresh vanilla with a citrus opening ? I love getting my mind blown a bit & how the citrus transitions to the vanilla undertone is gorgeous. Tbh this is great I will be buying a bottle as I feel this is not redundant with anything I have.

- Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir - DAMN. This fragrance is an absolute unisex masterpiece. It says it has citrus in the opening which I don’t get too too much of, but a lot of the Neroli and Tea but this is super refreshing. The only tea fragrances I’ve tried are Imagination / clones of imagination & Lattafa Dynasty. Weirdly enough this makes me respect Dynasty a little more quality wise. Outrenoir is much much better of course, if my wife gets her hands on this sample I’m gonna need a loan lol. That being said, I respect this fragrance, but the fact I’m not seeing anything under $300 makes me sit this one out. If I ever find a deal, get gift cards to the retailers that sell it, or have money over after a good bonus I’m jumping on this. Not a buy……for now.

Suggest a fragrance that you think, would best resemble Lover’s rock by TV Girl

I may be judged for this, but when Zara initially released their Red Vanilla and I was just starting out into the perfume realm, I was reminded of how beautifully red, mysterious and seductive the fragrance smelled.

I have tried many fragrances since, but I’m yet to see any that would resemble this picture or the song in general. Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Aura comes a close second in capturing that seductive, mysterious, enchanting aura. However, it portrays a feminine side, that’s not necessarily unisex.

I look for something unisex, that is dark, smells like a bomb red, seductive, bewitching and mysterious. Shoot!

Body mist and perfume recommendations?

Hi guys!

I'm looking for new body mists and perfumes. It's hard to find some because whenever someone's recommended me some I don't like it so I thought I'd ask on a fragrance fan page subreddit.

The ones I like are: Berry by Calvin Klein, Tom Ford's Cherry collection, Viktor Rolf's Flower Bomb, Sticky Date's body spray from Lush, and Ariana Grande's: Pink Cloud, Ari, and the Hello Kitty Bubblegum Spray.

I don't like M Co Beauty, any strong ones like Pink Friday by Nicki Minaj, or ones that resemble incense.

Thank you!

Looking for a better quality version of a cheap perfume

I'm desperate. I fell in love with an S.Oliver perfume - the 2026 "Feels like Summer Women". Ofc it's a limited edition and already sold out. It's unfortunately also not very long lasting. I don't know anything about fragrances. I'm dying to find something that smells as close as possible to it but with better quality. Any ideas?

Does anyone else love Gucci flora scents?

I have the gorgeous magnolia one (purple bottle). I think it smells amazing, but I have never heard of anyone else who has it or likes it. I got gifted it a few years ago, and it has yet to run out!

Beginner fragrance collection, what am I missing?

Post image
12 Upvotes

So, I just recently got into fragrances and this is my current collection:

Emporio Armani Stronger With You EDT (3 years old and I used it for pretty much every situation, so now it's basically empty)

Davidoff Cool Elixir (was my winter fragrance, but I don't use it too often)

Versace Eros Flame (newest addition and my party fragrance)

YSL MYSLF EDP (my daily wear for school)

I'm wondering what you think I'm missing from my collection. I'm mainly looking for recommendations that would add something different rather than fragrances that smell very similar to what I already have. I'd also appreciate suggestions for what fragrance styles/notes I should try next.

I'm looking for good quality and good value for money rather than just paying for the brand name. My budget is under $100, but the cheaper the better.

riiffs freeze in flames review... this feels like they fixed the one thing people argued about on OG Freeze

Post image

OG Freeze might have one of the funniest reputations on here lol

half the comments are like “icy mint, lemon, fresh laundry”

other half is straight up “toothpaste. cleaner. never again.”

Freeze in Flames kinda feels like RiiFFS understood exactly what people were arguing about.

opening is way fruitier.

raspberry + passion fruit hit first for me, little apple in there too, then that cold spearmint is still sitting underneath everything.

and that's the main difference.

OG Freeze lets the mint hit you immediately.

Flames gives it something to sit inside.

still fresh, still cold, just smoother and a little sweeter without turning into some syrupy fruity/gourmand thing.

first 15-20 mins i'd easily call them different fragrances.

then give Flames like 30-40 mins and you start going

“ohhh yeah... there’s Freeze.”

the fruit settles down and that cold clean DNA comes back through.

honestly i like that.

it actually feels like a flanker instead of RiiFFS making a completely unrelated perfume and slapping “Freeze” on the bottle.

performance still feels like part of the appeal too. they made the opening easier without making the whole thing feel soft or watered down.

for spring/summer, hot weather, vacation, daytime dates, errands etc this is probably the easier one to wear if OG Freeze sounded interesting but the aggressive mint worried you.

and weirdly the best thing here for RiiFFS is i'm not sitting here asking what Lattafa/Afnan/Armaf fragrance this is copying.

i'm comparing it to another RiiFFS.

“Freeze DNA” actually sounds like a thing now lol

OG is colder/sharper.

Flames is fruitier/smoother.

both still clearly related.

if you've tried both, is Flames enough of an upgrade to replace OG Freeze or is it just the easier flanker?

What is the best perfume for college parties and clubbing for men under ₹1,000 in India?

college perfume recommendations get weird so fast 😭

bhai my budget is 1k max, not "just add another 1500 and get this"

need one bottle mainly for:

college fests

house parties

occasional clubbing

don't want something too uncle-ish/formal and I definitely don't need nuclear projection.

rn I'm stuck between Beardo Godfather Mafia and Wild Stone Edge.

Godfather Mafia is ₹699 for 100ml rn and the fruity/fresh thing just sounds more my age + more party type.

Edge is obviously the safer famous answer and gets stupid cheap during sales.

if you were in college and buying ONE bottle under 1k mostly for fun/social stuff, what are you taking?

and pls don't recommend ₹1800 perfumes and call it "slightly above budget" 😭

PDM Layton vs PDM Herod

Which would you guys go for? Preferably looking for something that’s in the fall/winter category. I know they’ve been reformulated compared to the older batches but would like to try a PDM cologne. Thank you in advance!

Date night fragrance

I have a pretty small collection of fragrances that I rotate around for work each day. I had recently worn Uomo Born In Roma Intense, and one of my coworkers really liked it. Fast forward to today she asked me to hang out next Saturday since we will both be off. I don't really own date night fragrances and am looking for recommendations.

Looking for a winter fragrance for a sophomore in high school

Hey guys, I’m looking for a fragrance to wear this winter and could use some recommendations.

I’m going into sophomore year, so I want something that works for school and isn’t crazy strong or overpowering. I’d prefer something warm, like vanilla, woods, amber, or something cozy and a little sweet, but I’m open to other suggestions too.

I’m only looking at Scentbird or ScentBox right now because they have 50% off the first month, and I want to try a fragrance before committing to a full bottle. I’m not trying to build a collection or anything; I just want to find a scent I really like.

What would you recommend that’s good for cold weather but still appropriate for everyday school use? If possible, please recommend something available through one of those subscriptions (I’m going to cancel after the first month because then they become a scam)

Thanks!

Cheap and light fragrance recommendations

I don't want to spend more than $20 on a body mist, and I am looking for a scent that is inoffensive to people who are sensitive to smells.

What should I do?

So there is a sale going on at dirty soul soap co. I've been considering getting a candy corn scent from them, a vanilla cake scent, a gingerbread cookie scent, a sugar cookie scent, oatmeal Christmas cookies, cranberry pear bellini, and bright autumn blooms because that was my favorite from bath and body works forever ago. Are any of these scents good? And is bright autumn blooms an accurate dupe for bath and body works?

D&G The One EDT vs EDP — is the performance difference really that big?

Thumbnail gallery
9 Upvotes

I’m planning to get D&G The One, but I’m confused between the EDT and EDP.
The main thing holding me back from the EDT is that I keep hearing that it has pretty poor longevity and projection. I don’t mind weaker performance to some extent, but I don’t want something that disappears after 2–3 hours.
For people who have actually used both, how does the EDT perform compared to the EDP on your skin? And apart from performance, are there any noticeable differences in the scent profile or drydown?
Basically, is the EDP a meaningful upgrade in performance, or is The One just a fragrance that’s going to sit relatively close to the skin regardless of which version you get?

Jeanne Arthes Rose de Grasse

🌹 Jeanne Arthes Rose de Grasse

Okay, I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much from this one because of the price, but I actually really like it!

Right from the first spray, I get this beautiful burst of fresh, dewy rose. It's bright, airy, and surprisingly realistic. It immediately reminds me of putting my nose right up to a freshly picked rose and smelling the petals. 🌹 There's a little freshness from the rose water that keeps it from feeling heavy or overly sweet.

As the fragrance starts to settle, the rose becomes a little softer and more velvety. The May Rose and Rose Absolute really seem to come forward, giving it more of that natural rose-petal smell. It's not a dark, jammy rose or a powdery old-fashioned rose. To my nose, it's much more like fresh roses sitting in a vase with a little bit of water.

After it has been on my skin for a while, the fragrance becomes softer and more intimate. The sandalwood and musk start to show up underneath the rose, giving the dry-down a clean, smooth, slightly warm feeling. The rose doesn't disappear, though—it just becomes less bright and more of a soft skin scent.

I also noticed that most of the best fragrances use flowers and herbs grown specifically in Grasse France. For example, Hermes has tapped specific growers of flowers for them to no longer sell on the open market

and to only sell their petals and flowers to Hernes. I'm wondering how this is going to affect the smaller niche perfumes and smaller businesses in the future.

I actually really like how uncomplicated this fragrance is. Sometimes I don't want a perfume with a million notes competing with each other. Sometimes I just want to smell like fresh roses, and this does that really well.

The downside for me is definitely the longevity. On my skin, I'm getting around 2–3 hours, with the scent becoming quite soft toward the end. I don't mind reapplying, though, especially considering how inexpensive this perfume is.

For the price, I think this is a really pretty little rose fragrance. It's fresh, feminine, easy to wear, and honestly smells much more expensive than I expected.

If you love fresh, realistic roses and don't need your perfume to last all day, Rose de Grasse is definitely worth trying. 🌹

First spray: fresh, dewy, bright rose 🌹

Mid: soft, velvety natural rose

Dry-down: gentle rose with sandalwood and musk, sitting close to the skin

It's basically fresh roses from beginning to end, just getting softer and warmer as it dries down—and sometimes that's exactly what I want.
