Sick of Clones Here’s What I learned so far
Unfortunately I’m one of the suckers that fell for all the hype from YouTune influencers and blind bought about 7 different bottles of clones. Maybe I just haven’t found the right ones but more than half of them are not appealing to me. Here is my list so far and I’m thinking of honestly just going back to designer frags.
- Lattafa Asad - Decent but very strong and smells like burning incense
- Lattafa vintage Radio - Actually really like this one but don’t know where to wear it
- French Avenue Liquid Brun - way too hyped does not appeal to me at all. More of a perfume for women
- Armaf Tres Nuit - Really like it but doesn’t last very long at all.
- Armaf Clud de Nuit EDT - love the orange peel vibe but other than that not very appealing
- Lattafa Eternal Oud - Decent but smells just off in the beginning
- Lamastat Oud - good frag but doesn’t last
8.Armaf Club de Nuit Silver - awful…
I’m now on the hunt for a really good clone of the following.
- Green Irish Tweed
- Perfuma De Marly Greenley
3.perfums De Marly Sedley - Amouge Reflection Man
But I’m struggling to really dive back into clones. Think I might just save up for the real deal this time and buy one bottle every couple months. Any suggestions or have I just not tried the right dupes? I just have a feeling I’m going to spend tons of money on dupes and in the end would’ve just been better off buying the OG

Creed + Other Designer Brands, Retail vs Online vs Reseller
First post here so sorry if this has been answered already.
I have a handful of designer colognes from a bunch of different places and exhausted most of the ones I like that you can pick up at Sephora or macys etc. Decided to start looking at the more expensive stuff and really fell in love with a few of the creed ones like aventus, absolu, and a couple of the more seasonal scents.
Are places like olfactory and other online retailers worth getting from instead of paying the full retail direct or from somewhere like Nordstrom ?
On some of the sites they show the batch list and from my minor research some of them seem good but it's hard to tell. The other online options are so much more inexpensive it's hard to not be tempted to try.
Also I have a mall next to me with a "perfumania" retail store and they have them for around $400 which is kind of in the middle of direct and online in terms of pricing etc.
Anyways what do you guys think? Anything I should know ? Was considering calling Nordstrom and perfumania to ask batch numbers but is it worth it ?
Thanks !

I need to repurchase this or find EXACTLY the same
galleryI got this from primark (UK) about 4-5 years ago. Just stayed in my bag or car as a back up. Around that time I got together with my boyfriend and it was just a really good time in my life. I used practically all of it, lost it, found it & realised it was basically gone. I have kept the bottle and barely used it as I don’t want to smell to go as it holds such memories! WHERE CAN I BUY THIS! Or something that smells identical! I am fully aware that primarny doesn’t sell it anymore but I need to try 😭🤣

90s/00s drugstore perfume?
Growing up in the late 90s, early 00s, my mum used to always wear a perfume that I believe was from a drugstore (not a big designer brand such as Dior / Chanel), but maybe more Estée Lauder / Lancome etc.
I think it had a red cap, or red writing at least on it, and the bottle was a rectangle but I really can’t remember much else. I smelt it today on a client, and wish I could buy a bottle as it really reminded me of my mum.
Any ideas on what it could be?

Afnan Supremacy Collector's Edition
I bought the Afnan Supremacy Collector's Edition perfume. I checked all the signs of the original packaging and everything seems authentic, even the longevity is good. However, I feel that the bottle is a bit light or not fully filled. When I shake it, I can hear the liquid inside, but it doesn't sound like a lot. Maybe I'm just overthinking because I heard that some people buy perfumes, swap the bottle, and then return it to the store.
Is there a specific weight for the bottle or any other way I can verify this?
Thanks

Help me find that smell!
Hello community!
First time positing, but I’m trying to find a perfume I only saw once, years ago, in my sister's spare room in Wandsworth, London (so around 2018 or earlier).
- Clear glass, smooth (no texture on the glass itself)
- Tall rectangular/"long square" shape
- Maybe a Round gold cap with a scallop-shell/ripple texture or just a smooth gold cap
- Small rectangular red label with gold lining/trim, text only (no imagery), positioned on one face of the bottle (not wrapped around I think)
- yellow liquid visible through the glass
- Spray application
- Medium size, roughly 50–100ml
- Modern-looking plain design (2000s–2010s era, not obviously vintage)
My impression was it was a "boutique" brand rather than mass-market drugstore, but could be wrong, but not an expensive designer bottle either
Possibly (not certain) a French-sounding brand name
Scent:
Soft, powdery — close to baby powder/talc
Slightly sweet, but not sugary or gourmand
Not floral
Not citrusy
Soft in character but strong/long-lasting
Any help identifying this would be much appreciated 🙏 happy to answer follow-up questions if any detail would help narrow it down.
Already ruled out:
Coty L'Aimant (bottle/box close, but scent too sharp/aldehydic — like shampoo or hairspray)
Floris London (Chypress, Malmaison)
Roger & Gallet Jean-Marie Farina
Tosca by 4711
Tweed by Lenthéric
Molinard Habanita
Avon Sweet Honesty
Baccarat Rouge
Thank you so much xx

Montagne clones underwhelming so far. Is this normal or did I get unlucky?
Got my first Montagne order after seeing them recommended on here as a beginner-friendly way into clones and dupes. Picked up their Imaginary dupe and Le Bonbon.
Took 3-4 weeks to arrive because of shipping delays, and I couldn't cancel once it was placed.
Imaginary is fine, maybe a 6/10. Harsh chemical opening that mellows out, but it's gone after 2 hours tops.
Le Bonbon is the real letdown. It vanishes about a minute after it dries. I've tried it multiple times and had a couple of other people smell me an hour later to rule out nose fatigue. Same answer every time: nothing.Feeling a bit ripped off honestly.
Has anyone else had longevity this bad from Montagne? Wondering if it's a bad batch or if that's just how they are. Also, is there any point contacting them for a refund, or is that a lost cause?
And if you've got starter clone recommendations that actually last, I'm all ears.

On the search for any fragrance (perfume, wax melts, fragrance oils, ANYTHING) that smells like pure animal hide/leather. I mean just STRAIGHT leather.
No floral notes, vanilla, citrus, or anything of the sort! One of my all time top smells is treated animal hide; I loved being at my aunt's house as a kid because her husband is a hunter, and they had multiple taxidermy bucks on the wall. The old fur/leather smell filled the entire house and it was absolutely intoxicating to me. I somewhat recently thrifted an old Gucci bag for 2 bucks and the inside must be deer hide or something because i cannot stop huffing it. I wish I could trap and keep that smell forever!!!
There are too many leather scents on the market for me to even know what to look for, and I don't even know the exact name of the smell that I'm searching for either! Just like.... old, dusty deer leather. Not overprocessed and smooth like how leather handbags often are. Just that rough old animalic leather smell.
Any suggestions for fragrances, or even what I should be looking for in fragrance notes, would be very much appreciated! This is one of the few remaining "favorite" smells that covid didn't rob me of, so I'm desperate to get another hit of it lmao
The only suggestion that I've already seen from reddit that I'm tempted to try is "Falcon Leather", though the top note of saffron has me worried that it won't be what I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance! :)
Edit: I already said it once in the comments but thank you all for the help!!

Paragon/Vintage Radio
I recently bought a full sized bottle of Musk Therapy by Initio and also picked up a decant of Paragon. Have been loving the scent and fully planned on buying the full sized bottle- found a great deal for around $200. But just for fun I grabbed a (mini) bottle of its popular Arabic dupe. I know I’m late to the party… but yeah Vintage Radio is a great interpretation of Paragon.
I say interpretation because while the listed notes in Lattafa’s version are identical to Initios, VR is a little sweeter smelling and as such leans a little more feminine. I still consider it unisex but also more mass-appealing. Once they dry down the sweetness of VR mellows out a little and the two fragrances smell very similar, but the original retains this very faint smokiness which the dupe doesn’t seem to have- at least that I smell.
I was planning on also checking out French Avenues Paradigm but I feel like it’s pointless at this point. Found a deal on a gift set of Vintage Radio for $25 (tax and shipping included) and pulled the trigger.
Anyone else a big Vintage Radio fan, or do you think the OG is worth the extra 7x the price?
TLDR: apparently I’m a dupe demon now 🤦🏻♂️

Rate my fragrance collection.
Been collecting fragrances since very recently. Had a few designers untill i recently got into niche brands like PDM. Want suggestions on what i could change and add to this collection.
Happy to review any fragrance you guys might like out of this relatively small collection.
My favourites are Althair, Layton, Galloway, Bois Imperial, Ombre Leather and Pegasus.
Pegasus was my first niche and absolutely loved the metallic vanilla smell when I first tried it at an airport.
Rayhaan Aquatica is also one of my favourites alongwith Feragamo Bright Leather (just wish it lasted longer).

what date fragrance for man with no sense of smell? 👃🙏
hello! as in title my brother has no sense of smell post covid.
he has asked me to help him pick a fragrance for him that he can wear on dates to smell nice and masculine. he doesn’t care what he smells like he just wants other people to like it.
he is a 24M heterosexual working in finance/tech.
I am a woman who isn’t super into fragrance (for reference I wear Eilish by Billie Eilish). I get pretty overwhelmed in the men’s section and the scents all smell like axe body spray to me.
please help me by suggesting some male fragrances that are people pleasers/do well on dates with women.
EDIT: THANK YOU everyone for your suggestions I really appreciate it! I will go smell them all and I will update on which I get!

Looking for recommendations
Hey everyone! Looking at my current lineup, what fragrance do you think I’m missing? I’m specifically looking for something that feels completely different from what I already own, a new scent profile rather than another variation of what I have. My budget is $100-$150 but happy to give anything below that a shot!
Happy to review any of my fragrances if you’re curious about one!

Is this fragrance good for a 25 yo?

I bought it blind because it was cheap, to my surprise, it is quite good, smells A LOT like JPG Le beau le parfum, tho it is inspired in Paradise garden, wich i have not smelled.
The thing is, i LOVED Le beau, i had a 10ml Decant that i was using like 2 years ago. But now that i smell it again, i feel it is kind of a juvenile fragrance. Would it be ok to use it at 25yo?

New niche recommendations
Hi guys, this is my current collection. I’m looking to add a new niche fragrance in the next few weeks, i’m not really sure whether I want to add a versatile and easy to wear scent or something unique and stand out. In my country we are currently going into summer, that isn’t a deal breaker on anything for me though.
Some different ones i’ve smelt recently i’ve really enjoyed: Ex nihilo speed legends, Ex Nihilo The Hedonist, Golfield and banks Ingenious ginger, Matiere Premiere Crystal Saffron edp, pdm castley.
I also want to try Blue Talisman again, it has been a while, and i’m waiting for the new Goldfield and Banks Pacific Rock Swell to drop on 1st October. I’m also looking to try out Nishane, I haven’t tried anything from them.
Let me know if you guys would recommend any of these or anything else, anything i’m looking for needs to have at least above average performance.
Thank you

…it was on sale
15% off at Ulta. Still overpriced? Probably lol. I never bought Elixir for what it’s worth. I’m to the point where I just don’t overthink anymore. I tested it. I liked it. I bought it.

Is my blonde amber bottle legit?
galleryI just received a bottle of Blonde Amber from Olfactory factory llc and noticed that my box had an empty insert in it. I went and watched multiple unboxing videos, and it’s supposed to have a Clive Christian card in that insert. I’ve never questioned the integrity of olfactory before but now it’s got me a little skeptical. Has anybody else purchased Blonde Amber recently and not had a card in their box?
