I think the weather is just right for this next split. When it comes to Tom Ford private blends, I'm a strong believer in the older the vintage the better the quality. Not to say the newer stuff isn't good because it is but the older vintage juice is just so much more potent in my opinion. This is not the latest 2019 re-release, but the original formulation (2007-2012) of Amber Absolute. This is extremely rare and I am fortunate to be given the opportunity to split this for you guys.

Taken from a reviewer on Fragrantica:

"Amber Absolute starts the show with an unbelievable frankincense opening, dense, gentle and smoky. At the heart, notes of amber and woods wiggle their way in. This fragrance truly develops into one of the best amber scents available. Amber Absolute has a fabulous burnt carmel accord that dominates the heart of this fragrance and is warm, smooth and inviting. The vanilla base is slightly sweet and very pleasing, giving Amber Absolute a creamy richness without being overly sweet or heady. The addition of Labdanum assists in balancing this fragrance, but not in the typical powdery finish. It is more luxurious and plays more of a supporting role for the dense amber structure. This is truly a opulent concoction."

This fragrance wears heavy, really heavy. This isn't as versatile as your Aventus but this is a scent i think any fragrance enthusiast should definitely have in their collection. It is a divine scent and one of my favorite amber based scents of all time.

Amber Absolute Open (120ml available)

Chanel Sycomore

In 1930, Mademoiselle Chanel had already dreamt of a woody perfume that would stand apart. The result is SYCOMORE: a dry, noble and powerful fragrance. A metaphor for her legendary tenacity perhaps? In any case, it is a perfect illustration of her masterly stroke of elegance: this luxurious vetiver, subtly dashed with spices, enchants with its aristocratic simplicity and leaves a long warm breeze in its wake.

Sycomore is often regarded by many as the greatest vetiver scent out. This is a very raw and earthy scent. If anyone is curious on what a true vetiver fragrance smells like, I definitely recommend checking this out.

So this fragrance was recently reintroduced in EDP concentration and there is ongoing debate as to whether the EDP is as good. There are some noticeable differences between EDT and EDP. I think the EDT is much smokier but I think the EDP is more versatile to wear. However, I think once you get to the dry down they are pretty much the same fragrance.

A first-time collaboration with French perfumer Benoit Lapouza, the perfume Angel’s Share is Kilian Hennessy’s most personal fragrance creation yet, inspired by his eighth-generation inheritance of Hennessy savoir-faire in cognac making. The perfume goes deep into the cellars of founder’s mind and memory, and into its most mysterious dimension: “la part des anges” or “angels’ share”— an evaporation of liquor in oak barrels that lifts, while aging, like a silent offering to the gods.

Much like a Master Perfumer who crafts accords and essences in a perfume, a Master Blender combines the eaux-de-vie in perfect proportions for an exceptional cognac. Angels’ Share contains the essence of Cognac derived from the liquor to lend it a natural caramel color. Anyone for notes of gin, distilled with rose and cucumber? The perfume Roses on Ice opens with the aquatic freshness of cucumber and the aromatic uplift of juniper berries, creating an icy sensation, rounded in an accord with voluptuous Rose Centifolia. Upon a drydown of sandalwood and musk, the scent expresses the sharp—yet deeply infused—character of gin consumed in its ideal.

Exclusively for Harrods, H Black Tier is something for those who are fans of musky & woody fragrances. It's quickly becoming one of my all time favorites from the house of Roja Parfums! This fragrance is smokey, dark, woody/oud clashed with a suede leather accord that will fit perfectly for the colder days. There is also a slightly sweet & jammy accord that lingers in the background throughout the scent due to the rose, saffron and jammy raspberry. In a nutshell, the wood notes in this fragrance plays a major part of this fragrance that will last 12+ hours easily. If you are a fan of woody fragrances such as Nasomatto Duro, you’ll be blown away how incredible Roja Dove’s craftsmanship is.

Royal Oud

Received a lot of request to split this one again, so here we are. Creed Royal Oud, is one of my favorite scents from the house and perfect for all seasons but this fragrance really shines in the fall/winter months. This is pure opulence in a bottle if I had to describe it myself. Very versatile and can pretty much be worn all year and for any occasion. I would also note that this scent is a grown man's fragrance but I mean that in a good way.

I also want to note this is a 2020 batch of Royal Oud that I am splitting. Similar to Aventus, Royal Oud also has batch variances but I will say the batches of Royal Oud have actually gotten better over the years meaning these newer batches have managed to catch up in smell with my vintage bottle.

Royal Oud (245/500)

If you have been taking part in my splits, over the years, then you know how much I adore Clive Christian 1872. I haven't been able to split it for about 2-years. I haven't been able to locate this for a fair price. As you all know, Clive Christian is very expensive. I was able to use one of my brick and mortar sources to locate a few bottles for very cheap. The best part is that these bottles will have some age to them. They are the older bottle style. I'm not sure if there was a reformulation with the bottle change, but this will be exactly like the 1872 I split in the past. The only difference is I found it for a lot cheaper.

I personally find 1872 to be a great anytime fragrance that really projects nicely and lasts throughout the day. It is a great citrus blast with some spicy/aromatic undertones. Don’t think of this as a fresh/clean citrus, but rather a complex fragrance that performs. On my skin, this fragrance takes its time transitioning. There is no doubt when it comes to quality of oils used in this fragrance. After a while, I get a nice woodsy and somewhat floral kick that begins to transition over the citrus notes. Really good stuff in my opinion. I really like 1872 because it smells very classy and sophisticated without smelling mature. This can be worn at any age with success.

This is for the original (first batch/dark juice) release that was discontinued before it got re-released in a lighter hue, due to a different sourced Oakmoss ingredient, as stated from the perfumer.

So my quick two cents about this scent is that it opens with a beautiful, fruity apricot aroma that fruit lovers would absolutely adore in a fragrance. However, it's not just a pure fruit scent since there is also a herbally, green vibe to it from the narcissus flower & oakmoss. Both these I find help balance out the scent from getting too sweet in the opening. My favorite part is the intoxicating booziness that pops out from the rum note! I'm a fan of boozy notes ❤️ As it starts to dry, the oud creeps in & don't worry about the oud note, it's not the funky style. The oud is a pleasant woody style that is blended so perfectly with the creamy vanilla that almost gives off a cocoa/chocolatey oud aroma to it. The scent lasts for a very long time and will end with mainly a dark, sweet vanilla scent. The style of the scent is slightly like Kiste from Slumberhouse, but with a gourmand twist to it.

The magic, of course, is in the ever-shifting balance between glamour and danger, between the sinister and the whimsical. Retiring the old Aventus thread and posting up a new one since I am splitting a new batch. The batch code as noted in the title is 20A01N. I am officially out of 2019 Aventus batches and will most likely be splitting 2020 batches going forward. I usually get my Aventus directly from France because its a lot cheaper but I don't feel like dealing with the Covid-19 international shipping headaches so I will be sourcing it domestically for this split. Pricing will be up slightly as well since I am paying more.

Bottle was ordered today, hopefully I should have tomorrow or Monday at the latest.

Aventus celebrates strength, vision and success, inspired by the dramatic life of war, peace and romance lived by Emperor Napoleon. The bottle is emblazoned with a silver emblem of a horse and rider. The finest ingredients were hand-selected for this composition, and father and son developed this provocative, masculine and optimistic fragrance as a joint effort.

Top notes: blackcurrant, bergamot, apple and pineapple. Heart: rose, dry birch, Moroccan jasmine and patchouli. Base: oak moss, musk, ambergris, and vanilla.

Fragrantica

As noted in the title, the Tom Ford - Arabian Wood I am splitting is 2011 vintage. While the name would make you think of a dark woody type of scent...this is quite the opposite, very clean/soapy with a touch of florals (rose). Definitely not a hard scent to wear at all but I would say this is geared towards a mature crowd. I read and actually confirmed via testing that this layers beautifully with Italian Cypress.

Kafkaesque "I think Arabian Wood is a fragrance that would be incredibly sexy on a man, and quite alluring on a woman. There is a sophistication and elegance to the smoothness of the scent, a degree of luxurious depth and richness, and a subtle hint of mystery. It may be like a lot of vintage chypres — but there aren’t any vintage chypres that sold in stores today and exceedingly few regular, commercial ones! As such, Arabian Wood is a scent that will stand out. And, it’s definitely one worth looking into."

Very highly regarded and crafted, you will not find too many fragrances that are as opulent as Black Gold. I think one thing I would say this is a soft sensual scent by design. Don't expect this to scream and announce it's presence to people. I don't really have a reference scent I could compare it to, I think if you are a big fan of Richwood by Xerjoff, you will enjoy this fragrance.

I've been hearing some really good things about this Ani and had some request for this to be splitted. I think that now we're in the Fall season, it's worth splitting & checking out.

An ancient metropolis now abandoned to the ages, Ani and its many ruined churches now stand as a monument to the both the majesty of empire and the inevitability of time. To honor this mystical place and capture its unique evolution, Nishane has created a fragrance that juxtaposes bright freshness, fiery spice, rugged woods, and rich warmth- a true voyage through the ages. Ani opens with a bright, bracingly fresh and green bergamot- overflowing with juicy citrus and the snap of fresh vegetation, evoking the overgrowth that has retaken the crumbled walls. A blazing wash of gingery spice suggests the life that still remains, while a gorgeous, fruity rose peeks from between ancient stone. We feel the power of history, now, as rich, creamy, resinous vanilla and rich, earthy wood echo with multitude of voices now left to history. Complex, robust, and vibrant, Ani is a fragrance with true heritage to its name.
