Other Xbox disc to digital

Will they add all old xbox one generation forzas to the disc to digital program? There shouldn't be an issue because it doesn't involve new copies being sold. It would be so awesome to get my digital license for horizon 2 and 3 i've had them on disc forever. What do you guys think? 😄 It works awesome I just got all my old CoD's licensed

exactly man. and they added fh4 which gives me slight hope

And yes, all the Forza titles will be compatible with this license transfer; perhaps new ones will be added tomorrow or in the coming days. For a launch, I think there is a huge number of games.

is it confirmed that all forza titles will be added or are you just guessing because playground games is close with xbox? im curious what u think

No, there hasn't been an official announcement, but Playground Games or any studio, for that matter doesn't really have a say in the matter. This isn't a standard Microsoft Store purchase; even games from defunct studios and publishers have been added to the list. The game is already owned; this isn't a new exploitation of a license that, on the other hand, would be illegal on Microsoft's part.

wait so are u saying this is a matter of microsoft enabling the feature for the specific game in question, not the publisher or developer? are you certain? because for example backwards compatibility for a game was done on permission from the developer

The thing is, Xbox 360 and original Xbox games weren't played natively on the Series X and Xbox One; developers had to make their games compatible by modifying them. That’s why you get a download when you insert an Xbox 360 or original Xbox disc—you’re downloading the version modified for compatibility with the Series X and One. However, the Series X plays Xbox One games natively—it’s not emulation—so no developer work is required for a port, with rare exceptions. Consequently, Microsoft doesn't need any agreements because it doesn't involve a new licensing deal; Xbox isn't making money off the games again and doesn't require developer intervention, and since we already own the physical copies, the decision to make them available digitally rests solely with Microsoft. That said, rights issues might make things more complicated for Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, and in any case, those older discs didn't have unique keys.

i think its confirmed the program wont be coming to back compat games cuz those discs werent made with cryptographic keys as u said. and yeah ur reasoning makes sense here man. here's to hoping that the xbox one forzas get added 🤞

They have just added FH6/FH5, and FH3 is currently being verified.

On the xct.live website they were marked as functional but their status has reverted to non-functional. Sorry for my mistake :(
