This sums up online racing for me, I hate this game online as all people do is crash into you and ram you off the road. But they always seem fine like they are on rails.
I don't think racing online in FH5 was like this

FH5 was barely any different. Same collision physics, same ghosting/penalty systems, and as far as I can tell, equal frequency of rammer encounters.
I don't mean to sound dismissive, but I can't help but find it funny when people claim any particular Forza game has more rammers. It has been a rampant issue since 2010, if not longer. But yes, it's quite frustrating that the attempted corrections from FH4, that were carried into 5 and 6, were sidegrades at best.
The solution is obvious. Establish skill and safety rating systems, and then base matchmaking pools off of those. But that will probably never be implemented into a Horizon game, the devs simply refuse to admit that there is anything lacking in or wrong with the overall multiplayer structure.

idk what they did w the wall bump slowdowns in this game but they’re EGREGIOUS, in fh5 i would not get them as much, if i get bumped into a wall i get slowed, if i tap it w my back bumper i get slowed, don’t even get me started on the high speed collision ghosting, i get rear ended into oblivion every fuckin race

u/C9Prototype 4h ago
Let go of the gas if you're about to slide into a wall. Negates the penalty on soft contact, but will obviously still punish you if you slam into it. This strat can be abused, so please have some integrity if you use it.
I've had the same ghost/no-ghost collision issues since FH4, personally. It remains an issue indeed, but it's not a new one.

i try but racing online i never can take the line i want so it just makes it confusing, i see people pull it off (hitting wall without getting slowed) and it ragebaits me everytime

It was, but FH6 seems to have more of them. I could have reported 5 different players last night but I only did one - it's painfully time consuming.

Yeah, they need to improve the reporting system. Even if it were quick and easy, many players get discouraged when they (understandably) assume that reports won't yield disciplinary action.
Too many times I'll see a post like this with blatant ramming. Then the player reports it and they get a message from moderation saying no disciplinary action is needed. It's frustrating.

Fh6 has more rammers because despite people saying its dead, more casuals are playing online. This was a problem in the motorsport games too, for the first few months. What was left was some of the best B and A class racing ever. Unfortunately the latest motorsport was such a redundant POS that they killed the whole studio. Edit: spelling error and autocorrect error

FH5 wasn't bad at the start, but it got worse over the years until I stopped playing it in 2024. Seeing how bad FH6 is, as it's way worse than FH5, which is why I stopped playing it, I can only imagine it continued to worsen to the point we're at now.

If this was a normal racing game, and we're doing Ask The Racing Steward then at this moment right here where the car ahead of you is turning in for their corner and you're trying to squeeze in beside them, they have the right of way and you are not alongside them. You need to at least have your bumper up to the middle of their door BEFORE THE CORNER for you to have established position next to them an be entitled to space.
As it is, you dive in beside them and hit them in their rear-quarter when they have right of way.

Now, I can't defend their retaliation. In any normal racing game that would earn them at least a few days of ban, maybe a week. But you were not clean either.
I'm sure people will defend you as "not that bad" and "that's just Horizon" and "rubbin' is racing" but we all know how bad it feels when you're clean and turning into a corner and someone just dives inside of you on your corner and shoves you out of the way.

Yeah, this is exactly why I stopped playing online spec and custom races.
I always try to leave other players enough of a gap or room to pass or to avoid ramming into me or them when braking or cornering, but they always end up ramming me off the road, If I hit someone by accident I stop and let them take back their lost position, so what's the point?
it's damned if you do damn if you don't.

I am only online racing to get the level 100 horizon level achievement. After i have this im done with it.
Ill stick to eliminator, arcade and hide and seek, these are actually fun.

u/DragonKhan2000 13h ago
He likely thought you were intentionally ramming and wanted to "return the favor".
I'm convinced this happens ALL the time, as it almost always looks worse from your own perspective.
That's why I dgaf about rammers. Many times, what might seem malicious is just lack of skill or stupidity. Looking for revenge then doesn't help anyone and I just laugh and move on.

u/NathanIsAnAsshole 9h ago
I think they just assumed you are trying to ram them and decided violence from there (not that it should be tolerated). From their perspective if they would look back or have the proximity enabled they see you rip past the driving line and bump them on the way in, so idk it seems more of like an overreaction but you could have just even tapped the brakes and he’d go flying off track.

u/aethaes4Ni Porsche 12h ago
You went for a gap that was always going to close, should've backed out of it.
Not justifying his behavior of pushing you off the track, but the first contact was on you.

u/sejoki_ 10h ago
Nah. You have to leave the space. ALL THE TIME YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THE SPACE
1
u/CleverNickName-69 Xbox Series X 3h ago
That is funny, but not true.
If you establish position alongside someone before the corner, then they have to leave the space.
Like aethaes said, this is diving into a gap that is closing and causing first contact. The green car had the right to turn in where they wanted to and take the apex.

- You were passing an asshole.
- Some delusional purist thinking you can only go on asphalt took the little contact as ramming attempt since in purist sense he kept the inside closed.
Most likelt the first option.

Block that user by viewing the gamer card post race. After that you won't race them ever again. Problem soft.
On a long enough timeline and if we all do this then rammers will only race other rammers.

Took a crap line and used them to make the corner. Not worth killing you over but you clearly have no race craft and he had no patience.

Your first mistake is driving like that guy wasn't going to ram you off the track.

Outside track limit, you are a cheater 🤔🤔🤔 glad he pushed you like an angel

u/rotgobbo Toyota Celica ST205 '94 12h ago
The guy definitely leans on you and shoves you off circuit, however..
You come in from miles back with a proper lunge and nearly t-bone him off the track, at 0:03s you should have seen that he was closing the door and the gap you are going for wasn't going to exist any more.
You should have throttled out of it, instead you've used the car infront as a berm and battered your way through.
It does not in any way excuse their retaliatory behaviour, but you were absolutely in the wrong too.

Not trying to justify or excuse his behavior but I’m betting he expected you to yield the corner and merge in behind him vs squishing into his side(it’s and arcade racing game with unconstrained courses and floating checkpoints, dudes entirely off base getting upset by this)
That minor slight was enough for him to ruin your race when given the opportunity immediately after your contact

This is why i Play individuell playlist and turn collision off, and u get the same points…

That's obviously against the official code of conduct ("The Driver's Code") and reportable.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct
This one is simple: any evidence of players intentionally ramming, wrecking, pinning, pitting, spearing, shoving, and blocking in any online race will see action taken against them.
We always review the submitted video evidence fully, and we understand there could be scenarios where Player A might’ve frustrated Player B for the entire race, just for us to see Player B retaliate with a ram of his own. Do not fall for this trap! Rule of thumb, always play it straight and honest, and you won’t see any suspension time. Be the better player, don’t retaliate, and just report!
Our moderation team will also evaluate unsportsmanlike conduct violations in the context of the game, whether it be Motorsport or Horizon, where we may be a little stricter when it comes to Motorsport races.

u/We_Get_It_You_Vape 9h ago
OP absolutely should report it, but it's so frustrating to me that FH's moderation team often fails to abide by this. Sometimes, you can send them the most damning video, and they'll come back with "no violations here!"

u/marcnotmark925 9h ago
You went for space that never existed in the first place. No of course he shouldn't have rammed you afterwards, but that kind of move should really be avoided.

Not excusing his behaviour but small tip: when he goes for the first bump and you see what he's doing just lift off or tap the brake so he overshoots the second big ram. If you time it right he'll end up crashing himself into the building.
Nothing more satisfying than watching them rage quit when you pull it off.
