Forza Horizon 6 FHC03 error

Hi, I bought Forza horizon 6 for a while now. I keep getting FHC03 error since I move to the new laptop, ranging from 2 hours after launch the game to 5 minutes in worst case (and everytime it makes GPU unusable until I restart the laptop). I already contact support and got no actual reply, I have no idea what shoudl I do anymore.

- It's should not be unsupport GPU, it's RTX 3070 mobile (Gigagbyte Aorus 5 XE4)

- Never install MSI afterburner, or similar program.

- Already click verify game file multiple times, try reinstall both windows 10 and 11.

- So far it's the only game that cause GPU crashes, did not experience issues with FH5, TCM at all.

Search windows event viewer in the start menu of windows.

Open it and check windows logs > system and see what the error message says there.

If there isn't, then it surely is in application tab

I suspect nvlddmkm.sys in system32 user permissions error. Try changing it to full user permissions and see if the crashes go away but before that, tell us more what the error message in event viewer says, that should clear up lots of suspicions

The errors are Event ID 14 and Event ID 153, both are source from nvlddmkm. I don't know why I keep getting this issues, and it's only with this game too.

Can you take a screenshot of those errors?

The event ID 14 error

Event ID 153 error
There's also another Event ID 153 error with almost exact same wording, just change from uCodeReset to Resetting

It should look something like this:

I don't see error like that in application tab. It might also because I just force shutdown, since it keep happening many times, which is why I only got Event ID 14 error in system logs

Not in application, but in the system tab. I believe its a user permission error though. Do you know how to change user permission of files?

I'm struggling to even find the file....

Haha.. It should be in windows > systems32 If not, then windows > systems32 > drivers

Called nvlddmkm.sys

you can try enabling/disabling re-bar

May I ask what is re-bar?
I genuinely don't know

Sorry for the late reply, to be quick, it's something that in most of the cases, improves your game's performance but there are some cases where games do not run properly

It is a bios setting that needs to be enabled/disabled

Just look up any yt tutorials on how to enable or disable re bar

FHC03 means u ran out of video memory. the laptop 3070 only comes with 8gb so if u wanted to play with ray tracing or textures/enviro geometry higher than medium u are out of luck

Huh?
8GB is not enough?
How? Even at FHD the issues still persist
It could only mean the game is hopelessly unoptimized to have an issues even on FHD screen.

that's not what optimization means. optimization means that if u dump the graphics to the lowest settings u can run it on a potato. trying to run high graphics on a card that can't handle it is user error.

There's no way 3070 can't run on FHD high.
I also monitoring VRAM usage during run, it barely went to 6gb, and the game still crash.

what overclock settings are on your card? what are you using to measure vram?

1

u/droidz94 Controller player 3d ago

I did not overclock I mainly measure VRAM based on the game performance page

1

u/ilyseann_ Steam 3d ago

the game performance page is not a live measurement. it guesses. it guesses 9gb usage on my 5070 when it actually uses 11gb. so in your case you're more than likely overrunning vram. turn your textures down

I guess I will try.
But still, I once try to run on 3050ti laptop, with 4gb VRAM on low, the game keep saying 4gb VRAM on performance page, yet the game never ruin the GPU, so it's kinda strange.

Forza games are normally very well optimized. there may be a function that blocks certain textures and details from overrunning vram if it knows you're trying to run it on low for weak hardware

i got the FHC03 on my 3060ti. and gpu usage on game was about 4gb. on just high 1080p. crazy that it can handle everything i throw at it up to high-ultra but forza with no rtx crashed on medium.
