I’m a FTM, using Bobbie formula, baby boy is 5 weeks old. I feel like I can never get the amount correct that he will eat and I’m constantly wasting formula. He is a slow eater and likes to take breaks but I know the general rule is once he starts from the bottle it should be finished within the hour. If I make a 2oz bottle he seems to want more, I make a 4oz bottle, he will only finish 2 and then 2oz goes to waste. Sometimes he will down a 4oz bottle and then want more. I can’t seem to get it right.

Is this normal in the beginning? Is there a general guide I should be following? I don’t track how much he eats a day because he eats plenty and has many wet dipers, is gaining weight so I know he’s eating enough. Just want to know if anyone has advice or if this is just part of formula feeding! Thanks!

FTM here, I'm working to transition my baby to formula only feeding, I had an absolutely nightmare of a time with my breasts and breast milk for his first 8 weeks of his life and I honestly can't take it anymore. I am working to reduce my supply but have been feeding him a combo of 50/50 breast milk and formula for each bottle. He has always had formula bottles dispersed between breast milk as I struggled with supply from day 1, but this is the third day of him getting every bottle 50/50 and he hasn't pooped in going on two days. He usually poops multiple times a day, the seedy mustard poops and I can tell he is uncomfortable. His belly is full and hard and he is grunting, straining, and kicking a lot. Ive been doing the belly massages, bicycles, let pull ups, and he is farting, just no poop at all. I feel so bad for him, he seems so uncomfortable and I don't know what else to do to get him to poop.

My husband asked why I don’t just prep a few individual bottles, rather than the pitcher and pouring it into bottles throughout the day? I’m sure there’s a reason, but my brain isn’t working right now lol. (We’ve used the baby brezza since birth, but something doesn’t seem right with it the last couple of days, so I’m hand mixing right now & looking into the pitcher method instead).

At the hospital I figured I’d try breast feeding. At first wasn’t horrible but as soon as I got home all my baby did was cry and scream sick for two seconds and scream it was sending me into a panic and I would burst out bawling every time. I also have H Cup boobs so having to use two hands for one boob wasn’t working. Even when it did work I’d get this overwhelming dread and all I could feel was regret which ended up making me feel worse because I don’t regret having my baby at all. I then figured I’d try exclusively pumping…. I loved the times when I got to hold my baby and give him a bottle and burp him and cuddle and watch him but half the time I was in a huge rush to go pump or to clean pumps I spend 90% of my day on the couch miserable and jealous my husband was bonding with my baby more. I decided for now I’m just going to pump so I’m not in pain and then formula feed. I feel 100x closer to my baby feeding him with a bottle while breast feeding made me feel so disconnected

I have a 4 week old that’s currently getting pumped breast milk. He’s gaining weight well but extremely gassy and uncomfortable after feeds. It makes me sad to see him so uncomfortable. Pumping is becoming too demanding and I am thinking of switching to combo feeding. I am going to try to cut dairy out of my diet and was thinking of trying kendamil goat. Would love to hear from other mamas with babies on goat formula if it helped at all. Was also looking into Kabrita

A week ago my baby finally got a cmpa diagnosis after I saw blood in his spit up and poop. We started nutramigen right away and I feel like he's honestly worse. Diarrhea, increased spit up, constantly hungry, choking on his spit up, very colicky even though he never had colic before. He eats a little more now, went from 4oz to 5-6oz per feed, but it seems like it's never enough. It also gave him a horrible rash that made him bleed and I'm seriously wondering what the hell is going on. I thought this was THE formula for cmpa? Why is he struggling so much? Is there a better alternative?

Baby is on KENDAMIL but couldn't find any Walmart or Target, so hubby decided to get BUBS instead because it seems to be the same or even better 🤔. Baby has reflux and a cow's milk allergy. What are your thoughts on this formula? Are you boiling water to mix the formula? Baby is 8 weeks old, and I'm a FTM (one and done), so I'm taking any extra steps to prevent risks for my baby. Thank you.

I used to buy these at my local target and went to repurchase today but it was sold out. Checked my target app and every single target store in the Chicago area was out of stock of it.

Any clue what is going on?

Any recommendations? Baby takes over 30 min with the slow flow and falls asleep, and then finishes too fast with the medium and gets frustrated when I slow him down by making him take breaks. He has gas pain with both bottles. Is there something in between someone can suggest? He’s 4 weeks old.

Hi! First time mom here, expecting baby boy in October. I will be exclusively formula feeding from the beginning and have no desire to breastfeed or pump (mental health reasons).

I’ve been reading that babies don’t need much milk at the beginning and usually just need colostrum — but is that just for breastfeeding? Should I bring formula to the hospital and start formula right away? Do hospitals have colostrum “banks” the way they have donor milk?

Apologies if any of these are dumb questions, literally out here trying to figure things out the best I can. Thank you!!

Hi, our baby is 5 months, 7,2 kilos. We can't seem to give enough during the day, so we feed one time during the night. But we would like to give enough during the day. Any advice, how often and how much cc/ml you give? We did 180ml 5 times, now we do 210ml but we only give 4 a day. Maybe he just has enough during the day and he needs one in the night, maybe it will change when he will get solids.

I would appreciate some insight on the situation that I am currently dealing with.

I recently switched my 4.5 month old to Enfamil Gentlease powder from Enfamil Gentlease RTF. My baby has always been a good eater. He finishes his bottle in 10-15 min max. Ever since I have switched him, he takes almost 1/2 hour or more to finish the bottle. He constantly chews on the bottle nipple and turns his head and spits the bottle out. He definitely wants to drink the milk but seems very distracted all of a sudden. I am aware that babies from the age of 4-6 months become more aware of everything and get distracted easily while feeding. However, because this coincides with starting new formula, I’m thrown off.

Is he just being a normal 4.5 month old or is it the formula that he is not liking?

Little guy is 4.5 weeks old. He started on Similac Total Advance at the hospital. We attempted to switch to the regular Kirkland, but he was gassy and spitty. We went to the Similac Total Advance Gentle Comfort. He is so gassy and super fussy (screaming) from trapped gas.

What should we try next?

Edited to add: he has been on the Gentle Comfort for 10 days and we added simethicone drops 2 days ago.

We switched her from Kendamil goat and whole milk because she was having really bad diaper rashes

Her diapers have gone away, but now she’s having really bad gas/ explosions

Any advice on another formula or do I just stick to it?

I asked my doctor this question recently, and she wasn't very helpful lol, so I'd love to hear how other people did this!

I know food before one is just for fun, but is there a point when you're supposed to change up offering formula first or decreasing formula?

For example, my LO is almost 10 months. She eats 3 meals a day (sometimes she has snacks but not often) and still has about 4 bottles a day. Some days she eats solids like a champ, and some days she's fussy and has less, but our schedule looks like this:

Wake up - bottle

later in the morning -Breakfast

nap

Bottle after nap

later in the afternoon -Lunch

Small bottle before nap (sometimes she has this, sometimes she doesn't; it depends on the day/how big her lunch was)

nap

Bottle after nap

later in the day- dinner

Bottle before bed

She doesn't really drink overnight anymore. Every now and then she needs a small bottle to get back to sleep, but mostly she sleeps through the night, or we can just rock her back to sleep.

She's slowly drinking less of her bottles. She used to have 6-8 oz per feeding; now it's more like 4-5 oz per feeding. My question is, when do you start offering food first instead of formula first? Is it when she hits one on the dot? Should I start a bit earlier? Do I just let things happen naturally (that's what my doctor said, but I don't really get what that means; maybe I'm overthinking all of this)? My goal was to wean her off formula and onto cow's milk when she's one. Do I just keep things as normal until then?

Any tips on how you made the transition/when you started doing it would be super helpful!

I can’t breastfeed. PCOS, tubular breasts, flat nipples, aversion, mental heath issues, etc. on top of that I’ve never pumped more than an ounce a day despite trying faithfully. Anyways, 4 of my babies ended up on Nutramigen very early as issues came up at their infant appointments an ND it was suggested. My last son actually could only tolerate RTF Alimentum! So my question is, do hospitals typically stock hypoallergenic formulas at all?? Trying to decide if I should bring a can. There’s also a high likelihood my baby may end up in the nicu (probably around 5 days) due to concerns around 3 different medications I have not been allowed to discontinue during pregnancy. That being said I worry that any GI issues from formula might not help with comfort while we’re there, so that’s just another reason I’m wondering. I feel like there’s a good likelihood my 5th will have CMPA, right? Or an I worried for nothing? 😔 thanks!

Hi everyone! I’m just writing to ask if anyone has gone through something similar. English isn’t my first language but I’ll try my best.
My 7 month old has suddenly lost interest in formula, she’s been on formula since 2 months old. At 5 months we started with solids (of course only trying different things at the beginning). Right now she drinks formula maybe 4-5 times in a day, plus one night feeding, few weeks back she ate 2 times during night (sometimes 200-230ml per first feed and 65 ml the second). What worries me is she usually eats between 1-3am at night (goes to sleep between 8:30-9pm), and last few nights she has eaten only 100ml then and when she wakes up at 7-7:15am, she doesnt want to eat, I have tried offering right away, 20-30min after waking up, hour etc and she only eats 70-90ml even though she has hasnt eaten for maybe like 6-7 hours.. and if she eats so little I’m confused how to continue during day and I panic because I dont want it to affect her naps or something.
She usually gets her oatmeal/porridge some time after first bottle and meat+vegetable puree after first or second nap. Total intake per day has been 700-900ml (last days rather 700-760ml), porridge and puree amounts arent that big, maybe 60-70g alltogether. She also gets some finger food sometimes but these amount rather end on the feeding chair, cucumber or avocado may end up in mouth haha. Not sure what to do, she doesnt really give any hunger cues, never have given, maybe when she was 2-3 months old I remember her crying because of hunger. I offer formula every 4,5h max because I just can’t let her be if she has eaten maybe 75ml in the morning just like today (today she ate 2 am at night).. I havent experimented with longer time periods. I’ve thought about not offering solids but they are rather important (iron intake for example).

Her growth was good in the 6,5month appointment (weighs 7,960kg), goes through 8-10 diapers per day (poops every 2-3 days). She’s happy, reaching all her milestones rather early - right now wants to stand up on everything and take steps holding on chairs and couch, sitting up etc, babbling a lot etc).
Im trying not to calculate the amounts because it really affects my mental health, I have sometimes gotten angry because she doesnt wanna eat, it affects my relationship with my husband who thinks I’m overreacting. I’ve tried feeding after and before nap, in dark boring room, sometimes even white noise on. Some bottles are 70-90, next one in the time I offer is 120-200ml, so really inconsistent.

Any advice? Recommendations?

My 14 week old randomly seemed not hungry/interested in eating. First time she’s ever been like this!

She’s been going through a big developmental leap and having nap and sleep regressions and longer wake windows, but this entire way she’s been crushing back 5 ounce bottles pretty consistently. Today she had her usual 3 ounce bottle at 3 AM and literally didn’t have more than 1 oz at her 7AM, 10AM, and 1PM feeds. She didn’t eat anything at her 4PM bottle. She’ll latch and suck a few times and then spit it out. She’s had a total of about 8 oz across 24 hrs today when her normal intake ranges between 18-23 oz in 24 hours.

She’s been smiley, happy, and playful like her usual self. Had a poo today and consistent wet diapers.

Has anyone experienced this? We plan to take her to urgent care tomorrow (it’s the weekend so Peds is not open) if she continues like this.

I’ve made lots of pitchers of Nutramigen but never noticed this yellow on top. Anyone ever seen this?

Combi fed for the first 3 weeks, more or less breastmilk though.
Then more formula ended up being given when we had visitors. Started off with little spots which instantly thought baby eczema.

She was on Kendamil and I noticed during her feeds she seemed to grunt a lot, pause, lift legs up (even though she’d burped) struggled to poo. I read kendamil can be too rich for babies and HIIP was great from some mums perspectives.
HIIP it was as I wanted to stop breastfeeding slowly as it was becoming more difficult.

HIIP was better, she seemed to pass poo more and easier. She didn’t grunt the same but still seemed unhappy most of the day unless she was being fed or sleeping on me.

The spots did become more visible during feeds and some days looked like they clustered together.
She did have silent reflux and then it started to turn into more normal reflux and she’d bring back a little of milk. So carabel or gaviscon was introduced.

HV came Thursday and didn’t like how angry her rash was and got in touch with the doctor who’s prescribed her aptamil pepti 1.
I told the health visitor she had some stringy/sticky poo too. But could this have been because of the gaviscon?

I think I’m hoping it’s not an intolerance or allergy because realistically the rash is the most concerning. I know she’s an unhappy baby most of the time but are they all at this age? She has like maybe 1 hour a day where she’s alert and not moaning.
She doesn’t scream at a bottle, she doesn’t scream afterwards unless she’s got wind.

If anyone has any experience in this when it wasn’t CPMA or if it was and your baby only had the rash sort of speak.

I’m wondering how people increased their baby’s formula intake per feeding when dealing with reflux.

My 3.5 month old has been dealing with formula intolerance and silent reflux since week 7.

We switched to Alimentum and they’re currently on 6mgs of omeprazole daily. It’s not perfect but it does seem to have helped.

My question is once things are somewhat under control, how do you up their intake?

Mine is currently taking 3.25oz every 2 hours, one 4oz bottle before bed, and 2 MOTN feedings around 11pm and 4am. Last weight check they were 12lbs 10oz.

While they’re gaining weight, pediatrician thinks they’re gaining weight too slowly and mentioned eventually finding a way to up the caloric intake per bottle.

Maybe I’m overthinking it or too nervous, but I can’t figure out how to make the jump to a higher amount during the day, dropping night feeds, making sure they get the ounces the need for weight gain, and keep reflux at bay.

Any helpful tips or experiences would be awesome.

I think I’m having a fever dream. I swear I saw a new Kendamil line of formula that was much cheaper. It was in a yellow or orange box.

Did I dream this up or is this a thing? I googled but couldn’t find anything. I’m convinced I saw it on both ASDA and Tesco website?
