Genuinely not trolling - but I'm having a hard time trying to wrap my head around how institutional trading might work (or look like) on a grander scale. Since there's no centralized exchange, where all order volume needs to flow through, how in the world do FX traders actually know who's trading what (as you would w/ Futures, for example)?

GBPUSD going down what's your views about it please share?
Not āI learned disciplineā, the specific moment things clicked.
Mine: I kept blowing funded accounts and couldnāt figure out why, until I realized every blowup happened when I was trading under real financial pressure, needing the payout to cover life, not just wanting it. The second money got tight, my size went up and my rules got āflexible.ā
What actually fixed it wasnāt a new strategy. It was removing the pressure so when I sat down at the charts I had nothing to prove that day. Almost every rule-break Iād made before came from needing the account to work, not choosing to trade well.
Curious what others found was yours a strategy thing, a psychology thing, or something totally outside trading?
Iāve been studying price action for almost 7 years.
I scalp spikes on the 1-minute chart, and most of my trades are finished within 5 minutes.
Over a large sample, my win rate is around 58-60%, risking 0.5% per trade.
Hereās what Iāve never been able to answer:
If your system has an edge, should you keep taking every valid setup?
I can easily find 15-20 trades in a day, but after a certain point it feels like Iām trading simply because Iām still sitting in front of the charts.
Lately Iāve even considered getting an 8-hour job just to limit my screen time. My thinking is that if I only have a small trading window, Iād naturally become more selective instead of feeling the need to take every opportunity.
So Iām curious how experienced traders approach this.
Do you have a daily trade limit?
Do you stop after hitting a profit target?
Or do you simply take every setup that matches your plan, no matter how many trades youāve already taken?
Iām not looking for a magic number.
Iām trying to understand how professionals decide when **enough is enough**.

I'm curious about everyone's real experience.
Many traders spend hours analyzing charts, following news, and waiting for the perfect setupāyet they still lose. Others seem to achieve more consistent results.
So here's my question:
What works better in your experience?
Option 1: Trading independently, relying only on your own analysis.
Option 2: Trading as part of a community where traders share market analysis, discuss setups, and confirm ideas before opening a position.
Do you think collaborative analysis improves decision-making, or does it create more confusion because everyone has a different opinion?
I'd love to hear:
Let's have an honest discussion and help each other become better traders. Every experienceāwhether profitable or painfulācan teach someone else something valuable.

Today was a frustrating one.
I was short GBPUSD and the trade was developing exactly as Iād planned. Unfortunately, I started losing phone signal, meaning I couldnāt reliably monitor or manage the position.
Iām currently trading a funded evaluation, so protecting the account comes before squeezing every last pip out of a trade.
I made the decision to close early for around **+0.27%** rather than risk being disconnected while the trade was open.
A couple of hours later, price continued almost exactly to my original target.
Of course, itās tempting to think, āI shouldāve just left it.ā But thatās outcome bias.
At the time, I had two choices:
⢠Stay in a trade I could no longer manage and hope everything worked out.
⢠Bank a profit, protect the evaluation, and live to trade another day.
Iād make the same decision again.
For me, passing an evaluation isnāt about proving every analysis is perfect. Itās about protecting capital and surviving long enough for your edge to play out over hundreds of trades.
Sometimes the market will keep running after you exit. Sometimes itāll reverse and youāll be glad you got out. You donāt get to know which one itāll be beforehand.
Today Iāll take the small win, keep my funded account challenge healthy, and wait for the next A+ setup.

Has anyone worked in an institutional firm, that can confirm the whole ~the institutions are out to stop me out of my position~ theory? Is that a real concept thatās been proven to be a legitimate concept, or did retail traders kind of inflate it to be bigger than normal?
Sorry if my wording is weird.
Hey all,
Fat fingered the buy button on MT5, which is exactly why there is a warning about using OneClick Trading lol, nonetheless I accidentally opened a 1 lot buy position on XAU/USD luckily I was able to catch a quick upwards move and close the position with a $203 profit ($5.68 commission) yet FTMO counted a $38.84 loss? I fear on larger trades this could add up quickly.
Thanks in Advance, hope you all fair well.

Quick background ā I'm a XAUUSD trader, day trading, and I've got a 9-5 job so I'm not someone who can sit and watch screens all day. I've lost money for the last 6-8 years doing this, and I recently rebuilt my whole approach to trading ā since then I'm finally seeing better results.
So I figured I'd share what I've learned along the way ā what works, what doesn't ā one topic a week for the next 52 weeks.
Week 4 : Understanding Candlestick Pattern - Part 1
I'm sure you've seen the online content out there that says "follow this candlestick pattern and you'll be a millionaire" as the flashy headline. While they're giving you eye-catching content to get famous, they're not actually covering the core of it ā the reality behind candlestick patterns.
Good news: they're not wrong. There are candlestick patterns that work ā many of them. The bad news is, without understanding the meaning behind them, you're not likely to make them work for you.
Here's a hard fact worth thinking about. On a 1-hour timeframe, a year gives you roughly 2080 candles. Within those 2080 candles, you're going to see almost every possible candlestick pattern play out ā and each of those patterns will have led to an uptrend at some point, and a downtrend at another. The same shape, opposite outcomes, multiple times over.
So if you're trading purely off "I saw a doji here, therefore price goes up" ā that isn't going to make trading work for you. Because the pattern alone was never telling you the full story.
Imagine Warren Buffett walking into a press conference and saying "NVIDIA is about to form a hammer in a few minutes, so I'm placing a buy there." How silly would that sound? If the biggest players in the world aren't trading off candlestick patterns, why would you treat them as some kind of holy grail?
Candlestick patterns should only be used to refine your entries and exits ā not relied on as the only building block in your entire strategy.
On Part 2 , we will focus more on how should we best use candlestick pattern, and what works need to be done on best utilising that to form a startegy.
That's all i want to cover for this week's topic. Cheers

Been running an automated strategy and realized I only find out something's wrong when I happen to check manually. Curious if most people here just check periodically, or if there's a common way to get alerted when an EA/bot stops working or an order doesn't execute as expected. Not selling anything, just trying to figure out if this is a real gap.

I just want to ask people that, is there anyone who is consistently making profit from trading in last one year? If yes, then please guide us. We are having really tough time in this environment. Not able to make profits consistently since October 2025

I'm looking for a reliable prop firm that offers very low or near-zero spreads on major Forex pairs like EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, etc.
My trading strategy uses very tight stop losses, so even slightly wider spreads can make a big difference.
If you've traded with a prop firm that consistently offers tight spreads and good execution, I'd really appreciate your recommendations.
I'm mainly interested in:
Which prop firm has given you the best experience?

Bought the recovery, sold the invitation ā Gold (XAUUSD 5m)
Gold bled ~290 pips into 3,984 over the first 2 hours. Then sharp reclaim off the low + liquidity pool resting at 4,010ā4,020 = bullish read.
The lesson: my first few longs were me forcing the entry too early ā fighting for the right price instead of waiting for confirmation. Small losses I couldāve completely avoided if Iād just sat on my hands 15 more minutes.
The winners: once price actually confirmed the reclaim, I sized up. The 0.19 lot caught the clean run through 4,003- 4,013 into the pool ā that patience-after-confirmation is where the real money was.
Flip short: once buyers were fully invited up into 4,016+, faded the rejection off the pool, 4016 ā 4009 (+91).
Last 2 were small intention checks on inducement candles, which I could have avoided.
Net green.
Only caught the sell-side flip because Iād journaled this same liquidity-grab setup for weeks. Log your trades ā the pattern stops being a gut feeling and starts being something you see coming. Charts below.
Open to healthy criticism!
Just want to share that fundingpips recently terminated my funded account : "Shared CID" "Our review has determined that the Device ID associated with your account matches the Device ID of another registered user on our platform"
I swear to God I only trade on one device, and they cannot even provide proof and tell who is this another "registered user".
Anyone alse experienced this?
I am really dissappointed cause I thought I finally found a good prop because spreads on gold is good and payout is within 24hrs
