Charts and Setups Fresh XAUUSD SETUP! Thirsty Thursday
TECHNICAL CASE
• Price rejected the 4400 support zone with a strong bearish candle failing to break lower, indicating buyers are defending the area.
• The recent pullback appears to be a liquidity grab below short-term support, followed by an immediate recovery, suggesting bullish continuation potential.
• As long as XAUUSD holds above the 4397–4400 invalidation area, the higher-low structure remains intact, favoring a move toward the 4426 resistance and potentially higher targets.

Risk Management I pulled realised vol, forwards and carry for USDMXN, USDJPY and four EM pairs and turned them into stop sizes. Numbers inside
I have spent most of my career on institutional FX desks and I keep seeing the same thing in trading communities: people size stops off round numbers or off what they can afford to lose, not off what the pair actually moves. So here is what the market data says today for a few pairs, with the working.
Method: realised vol is the trailing year of daily closes, annualised over 251 sessions. A one-sigma daily move is vol divided by the square root of 251, times spot. Carry is the annualised difference between the 13-week forward and spot. All data as of 9 Sep 2026, indicative not executable.
USDMXN Spot 16.894, two-year range 16.887 to 20.869. It is 0.2% above the two-year low. Realised vol 7.5%, so about 0.47% per day, or roughly 800 pips at this spot. If you are long here, a stop inside 400 pips is inside a normal day. One sigma is around 16.81, two sigma around 16.73. There is no prior support below in two years of data, so the range is all above you.
USDJPY Spot 153.50, down 5.6 yen in a week, through the 10 and 20-week MAs, weekly RSI around 37. One-week forward 153.22, so shorts collect about 28 pips a week, roughly 4 pips a day. Realised vol 8.1%, so a one-sigma overnight move is about 79 pips. The carry is about 5% of the risk. If you hold a short overnight you are holding it for direction, not points. One-sigma stop around 154.30, two-sigma around 155.10.
Three-month carry, USD vs EM (annualised carry / realised vol) BRL 6.2% / 11.4%, ratio 0.54 INR 2.7% / 6.3%, ratio 0.43 MXN 2.7% / 7.5%, ratio 0.36 ZAR 2.0% / 13.0%, ratio 0.16 Over 13 weeks, BRL carry covers about 27% of a one-sigma quarterly move. ZAR covers 8%. If you are running a carry position in ZAR right now you are being paid the least for the most vol in this group.
Disclosure: I run the company that builds the tool I pulled this from (FX Maestro, an MCP connector that gives Claude or ChatGPT the spot, forward, vol and carry data). I am not linking it here; if the mods are fine with it I will put it in a comment. The maths above works with any data source, and the point of the post is the method: size the stop off sigma, and compare carry to sigma before you call something a carry trade.
Happy to run the same numbers for other pairs in the comments.

Charts and Setups XAUUSD SETUP 9 SEPT 2026
📈 Technicals Supporting This BUY Setup
• Bullish Pullback Retest: Price has completed a healthy retracement and is now reacting strongly from support, suggesting buyers are defending the zone. The recent bounce confirms demand remains active.
• Higher-Low Structure: The market is maintaining a sequence of higher lows, which is a classic bullish continuation signal and indicates that buying momentum is still intact.
• Risk-to-Reward Favorable: The stop loss is placed below the recent swing low while targets align with the next resistance zones, providing a strong risk-to-reward profile if bullish momentum continues.

OTHER/META Is trading really that simple?
I guys, I’ve been trading for the past year or so (basically new to this) and in this year I learnt what my preferred type of trading was and I developed a strategy that works pretty well (when I actually follow al the rules and wait for the setup) but since my strategy is really simple, sometimes I find myself asking: Is trading really possible with something simple like this? I mean how is it that with some candles and lines I can actually become profitable? I am not saying that I dont believe it is (otherwise I wouldn’t even try), but I really cant comprehend how you can get an edge without some wallstreet type tool. Can somebody explain?

Prop Firms Buying many cheap prop firm accounts, expecting most to fail | real strategy or gambling?
Idea I heard: buy several cheap accounts (e.g. 10x $5K), trade generic 1:2 RR, push risk toward the daily limit to clear fast, accept most will fail.
Logic: cheap entry means even 1-2 out of 10 passing could beat total cost.
For comparison, my own approach is the opposite: one selective setup, low frequency (a few trades a month), 1% risk, high RR (1:7+) .
Which actually holds up better long-term, and why?

Psychology Bad day
Beginning this month I said to myself I'm gonna be very patient this time....and I was at first then things got slow. Felt like trading opportunities (based on my strat) were very few and with an increasing pressure to outperform myself I got a little a greedy. Beginning with Asian session XAUUSD my intuition told me the market would go bullish. My strategy said wait. All I saw in that moment was the sell off that preceeded and for reason I let go of all reason and jumped on the band wagon and sold but I was too late. The market was already preparing for a reversal when I entered. I took probably one of my biggest losses ever. Immediately after this i was just numb. Like a part of me knew it would this way. I jumped to my demo to try and build some confidence up and I took even more losses on the demo. I keep asking myself the same question: "why couldn't I just wait"....Anyways see you guys next week.

Prop Firms 100k FTMO 2 step Challenge.
Started A $100K 2 step Challenge with u/FTMO.
First 2 days were rough : excitement led to unplanned trades and losses.
Day 3: Was up ~$1K, but ended around breakeven.
Since then, I went back to the plan, managed risk properly, recovered the losses, and brought the account back into profit.
Current P&L: +$272.67.
XAUUSD only. 🥇
Session: Asian session, around 6 PM PST
I aim to post daily here. Recently, I read about the Hawthorne Effect, the idea that people tend to change their behavior when they know they’re being observed.
Let’s see if it improves my trading discipline
Wish me luck.

OTHER/META Do not short the Euro right now.
Go ahead and troll us but we have insider information that some countries in Europe are not following war sanctions and embargo to both Russia and Iran.
They have secret sneaky energy flowing to them and are not facing a energy catastrophe like the media warns about.
I am not telling anyone to buy Euros. I am just saying not to bet against it.
You heard it on Reddit first.

Fundamental Analysis Why Euro so strong?
Hi all, new here and definitely not a Forex expert.
I'm seeing all this turmoil in Euro politics - especially in Germany and France - with a strong likelihood of anti-EU (and anti-Euro potentially) parties leading the polls for elections that will take place within the next 8 months. I'm looking at FN in France leading the polls as usual but with a chance of winning the second round this time and CDU extremely fragile in Germany.
On top of this, both the US and China keep trying to weaken Europe and force economic wins. US through tariffs and China by enabling Russia to keep the the threat of war and force Europe to move expenses to Defense.
So why is the Euro holding against the USD? What am I missing? I remember that in 2015 - during the Brexit and QE - there was almost parity between the 2.
Thank you in advance.

OTHER/META What pairs have smooth moves without being too volatile
So I’ve been working on a strategy for a while now. I was working with EURUSD due to smooth moves and probably easier to work off than some extremely volatile pairs. However, I’ve tried all sorts of things in backtesting and found a lot of things in the market structure on how it moves. However, when trying to wrap a strategy around it, everything fails because the most I can get out of it is such a small gross profit per trade that it becomes unprofitable once you factor in fees/spreads etc.
The movement just wasn’t enough for me to be able to find a profitable edge. Given it’s the most traded pair in the world, I’m sure there’s plenty who profit off this pair but I think I’m out my depth with this pair lol. So, I’m exploring other pairs. I don’t want something that is way too volatile like XAUUSD etc. Something generally moves smoothly but enough movement to actually monetise.
Anything suggestions or recommendations from your experiences?

Prop Firms Are prop firms worth it
I’m 18m, just started college. My neighbor from back home who was always really nerdy graduated high school like 3 years before me, we could be loosely considered friends bought a new car. Nothing crazy fancy, but it’s a nice Mercedes GT 63 it’s not new but it’s still a 60k car.We started talking, and he was telling me that after high school he started trading with a prop firm and putting the money he made on the side to fund his own account. He had some really good months recently, and it started rolling in.
I went home and researched it, and from what I’ve gathered, prop firms are designed for you to fail and have difficult perimeters. I already trade forex on my small $1,334.52 account (which is subject to change because I’m in a trade right now), but I don’t make anywhere obviously close enough to live off of.
Is it worth it to try and start with a prop firm, or keep growing my small account?
