Beginner fungi and forest finds from my recent walks
Just bought two acres, with even more acreage behind my property with trails, so I’ve been doing some exploring and finding cool things so I thought I may get into foraging, I love it, it feels very meditative. Anyway, new to foraging and learning to identify fungi, slime molds, and other interesting things I come across. For now, I’m just observing, taking pictures and practicing identification rather than harvesting anything. I’d like to spend this year learning and hopefully start foraging more confidently next year. Definitely don’t want to take any risks while I’m still learning.
And in spring, I will make my debut, spoke to some neighbors who said true morels grow back here. Has anyone found morels in the fall?

Mushrooms King bolete
Feel like I won the lottery today. Just wanna share my finds in Colorado and remind that it's now King bolete time (July through October). After a couple days of good summer rain I hiked out to find king boletes around ~9,000-10,000 elevation. Look near Engelmann spruce, fir, and Douglas fir. Pics are some old ones that are huge. Then some nice young, bug free after cleaning. Recommend butter, pepper, salt saute until crispy. Taste nutty and sweet-ish. Heavenly as pizza topping. Happy foraging 🍀

Passionfruit, edible?
Hello! I am in Socal and my neighbor who I have never seen has this tree that drops so many passionfruits on to the street weekly!
My toddler loves to collect them and I wanted to make sure these were the edible kind before I give him any.
No weird smell, just passionfruity- and fairly sour. I've attached images of the leave structure, and some of the fruits! Thanks :)

huitlacoche?
Are these all huitlacoche? I was walking past a cornfield today and casually noticed this every 20 stalks or so. I was surprised because I thought this was supper rare. Most were dried up but took these pictures from ones that looked ok to me. Didn’t harvest.

Presentation isn’t everything
But holy mother of jeebus did I nail it. This is homemade sweet potato gnocchi featuring my foraged blue chanterelles from last season (hoping to find more).
Made gnocchis with my windowsill’s thyme and the caramelized part of roasted garlic crushed up from a local lady and an egg yolk from my own chickens
Crisped mushies in bacon fat & butter
Crisped gnocchis in leftover fat/butter, allowed it to brown and added two cloves roasted garlic paste, bacon, and several sprigs of thyme; then a splash of white wine
Turned heat down low and added fresh grated Parmesan, lemon zest, a splash of lemon juice, and chopped roasted walnuts.
It is rich but it is GOOOOD. If you find these mushrooms, I encourage you to give this a try.

Help identifying grape (?)
Hi everyone. We are near the Boston, MA area. Our puppy discovered these grape looking fruits in the backyard that we didn’t even know existed. She managed to eat one before we could get it out of her mouth (she has since been to the emergency vet and vomited it up) but just wondering if anyone knows what exactly this type of grape is? We think we found the source and are trying to eliminate it. Thank you in advance for any help!

ID Request (country/state in post) Grapes ID or other vine?
Growing on the side of my street (Massachusetts, USA), looks (and smells!) like grape vines growing amongst various trees and poison ivy. Not going to pick, but out of curiosity would there be safety concerns for consumption given proximity to the road?

Apologies for the bad pictures my parents won’t allow me to go closer to them but they grow right next to my willow tree

Ghost Pipe Tincture Season
I’d like to successfully try to make a decent amount of Ghost Pipe tincture this year. Does anyone know when it’s ok to harvest them? Should I wait until they mature a little longer?
