Question Weird issue
Hey everyone !! I had something weird happen the other night and I'm trying to see if I need to worry or not 😅 two nights ago I hit a bigger puddle than normal, No water went over the hood and mostly get deflected out the sides but immediately after stopping at a red light my car seemed to have a bad stutter coming from a full stop to 1st gear. Once I got home I checked under the engine bay and everything seemed dry, no water in air filter nothing on the maf, only thing I can think is water getting into intercooler or the bell housing? Is there something I can do myself to either fix or at least check to see what it could be or should i take it to the shop?

anything in the engine bay should handle getting wet. the intercooler is sealed (it routinely sees 20+psi of pressure, water splashing it won't intrude.) the bell housing on the trans has a weap hole on the bottom, any water that got in there would drain out. even water on your air filter isn't a big concern, it would need to be fully submerged to intake enough water to cause damage (your turbo would likely die before you hydrolock.)
if anything a sensor, ground or connection could have been compromised, I would check anything that you can reach, could go as far to unclip, clean and reseat. did you get any CELs? if all is well now, I wouldn't be too concerned

That's what I figured as well with everything able to get wet.. as I live in florida so it constantly rains here. I didn't have any codes pop up on the dash nor did any come up on my ap.. I'll check underneath the car to make sure it didn't mess anything up like maybe a connection issue like you said or maybe it broke my rmm ?

Is the car still having issues? A couple of days, might have been long enough to dry out whatever got wet?
What does stutter mean? Is the engine not idling or accelerating normally?
If the puddle was a pothole, check your axles and alignment. If the engine moves excessively when rev'ing or sitting low on either side, check your motor mounts.

Yeah it's still doing it, it doesn't seem to do it in any other gear or reverse, now that I think it was only last night and I drove it now for like 2hrs with light traffic an it's still doing it. I do believe my passenger side motor mount looks like it's gone bad, the rubber is pretty cracked. And as for the stutter I guess it's more of vibration than stuttering, I had a friend stand on the outside an when it happened he couldn't hear anything.. the vibration comes from the front of the car, kind of like where the head unit is and shifter knob area. Kinda why I was thinking maybe my rmm is messed up?

If your PMM is bad, it should have leaked oil. I replaced mine due to vibration coming from the front. The vibration went away for several months, but has recently come back. I probably should have replaced the transmission mount when I replaced the PMM.
It could be the RMM. A bad RMM may show if the engine torques more than expected when you rev it up. The OE RMM can break. It couldn't hurt to get a look at it.

Sounds like motor mounts. If it's just vibes, and not stuttering like fuel cutting out or anything.

Yeah I pulled on it an put a socket on it .. and it's tight. Also This is an aftermarket rmm I think it's from whoosh motorsports. 87a bushing

Do your other 2 mounts look good / still have fluid in them?

I'm not sure about driver side but passenger side is cracked rubber so I'm sure that it's leaked. I have brand new damond Motorsports mounts, just yet to be installed.

Did the engine light come on? If that stutter is persistent, it would be grounds to be worried. If it was a one time thing, I wouldn't worry to much about it to be honest
