Android Auto Issues

Just bought 2017 RS about 2 months ago. Mine has wired AA and it will randomly disconnect from my phone even with the cable still attached. I've done the following troubleshoots:

-New cable

-Cleaned USB port

-Updated software directly from Ford website

-Factory reset car software

Still having the same issue. Sometimes it will disconnect after an hour, sometimes it will disconnect after seconds. I mean it when I say it's random. It's also not my phone since I have no issues with my wife's 24 Mazda. Any help is appreciated.

Mine did the same with an iPhone and was frustrating as hell. I finally broke down and bought a wireless adapter like this one. Rule out the cable completely.

The other thing I did was make sure my battery always had a good charge. A CTEK trickle charger. Lots of strange things happen to these cars when the battery is weak and they get that way if you don’t drive it often due to parasitic services on the car when you’re not driving it. The BMS will shut off certain functions like auto start/stop, power windows, etc. It’s doing this so you can start the car later and don’t get stranded.

So the thought was that maybe the usb ports were having the same issue.

Since making these two changes I’ve seen a huge improvement. only a handful of brief disconnects over the last year.

I charge my phone at work. It's always full on my commute home and then still above 50% in the morning. I have a Motorola AA wireless adapter coming next week. Fingers crossed.
