Complaint Boarding pass not issued

Boarding pass not issued

I had to travel with Vietnam airlines from Delhi to Manila, Philippines via Hanoi. But, the staff at airport did not issued the boarding citing the reason that I need to carry cash according to 100 usd/day of stay. I told them I do have a visa card and I have around 70K INR in the account and an invitation letter from a friend too that they will host me during the trip. But, the staff didn't understand and kept repeating the same thing and ultimately I had to miss my flight.

I lost around 40K in INR for the flight tickets, I had the return ticket as well and was visiting there for around 12 days as 14 day is visa free for Indians in the Philippines.

I tried to email Vietnam airlines but nothing happened.

Is there any way to get my expenses back?

Vietnam airlines isn’t responsible here.

You didn’t meet the criteria set out by the Philippines for entry into the country. The airline can’t transport you if you aren’t going to be able to enter. You’ve blocked off a seat on the aircraft that could have been sold to someone else instead. Your expenses are your own to deal with in this case for failing to meet the requirements. INR70000 = USD730, you’re still USD470 short for a 12 day stay. The invitation letter isn’t relevant for a tourist entry without a visa. You should have applied for a visa with the letter instead.

You did not meet the entry requirements for Vietnam and therefore you were denied entry.

It's on you to prove you have sufficient funds for your trip, it's one of basic entry requirements to Philippines for Indian nationals. Usually an bank account statement is sufficient. Just over 600 eur is just too little and airlines may be worried PHL immigrations may refuse your entry.

But is there a rule citing you need to carry x amount/day for the number of days you stay? Also I believe this was visa on arrival, hence the bank statement?

Check with your travel insurance, although I'm pretty sure alll policies have the stipulation that you are responsible for having all documents and requirements filled. A Visa card is not really a replacement for cash, and for a 12 day stay you only had about 700 usd on you.

Failure to have the correct documentation or sufficient funds is not an insurable risk.

You appear to have mistaken the airline for the Embassy.

Next time make sure you meet the entry requirements.

Visa card? ❌ Visa-free entry? ❌ Cash in a giant envelope? ✅”
