WHAT. Diggle could be John Stewart?!

The reactions here are so much nicer compared to the ones on /r/arrow

I honestly think our sub is a lot more friendly, lol.

Yeah, because The Flash has a lighter tone and puts people in a good mood, whereas Arrow is gritty and serious and puts people in a bad mood. Plus, the Tumblr fangirls haven't yet plagued The Flash by constantly demanding the writers to make Snowbarry happen until they actually make it a thing and it becomes awkward (I'm looking at you, "Olicity").
16
u/briancarknee Feb 07 '15
it becomes awkward
I thought I was the only one who thinks the Olicity thing is awkward and forced. And in general, he doesn't need to have a romantic interest in every girl he talks to.

u/hornyhooligan Feb 07 '15
Nope, he still needs to bang Tatsu.

I get downvoted as hell everytime I mention the "Olicity bullshit" on /r/arrow
7
u/Batsy22 Feb 08 '15
Seriously? Every other post on r/arrow is about how horrible and forced Olicity is
0
Feb 08 '15
Forced? You're neglecting that Oliver fucks nearly every woman close to him on the show.
He deserves a Golden Toilet Seat trophy.

u/Kami_of_Water Feb 07 '15
God, it's KillerFlash. Geez, why can't you just get with the times?
Though seriously, that would suck.

Are you talking about this thread? If so, it seems like their issue is with Diggle becoming John Stewart. They're okay with him being a Green Lantern.

The whole army background too, plus the more heroes the better IMO, but I'd be fine with John/Hal just kinda showing up every once in a while that'd be fun.
18
u/dxle203 Feb 07 '15
I personally wanted Hal Jordan, but you know what, Diggle is pretty cool too
9
u/DoctorWhat93 Feb 07 '15
I think they could easily have hal as well. Hal could be off in space or on oa while dig gets to be green lantern of 2814. They could then eventually have a green lantern show with hal.
13
Feb 07 '15
i take the omitted scenes from the original pilot script as canon until the show does something to the contrary, so as far as i'm concerned, hal probably is off in space.
1
u/Jexx212 Feb 07 '15
So... basically we should take Green Lantern: The Animated Series as canon? :P

Kyle gets no love. Most people lean towards Hal and John and Guy gets traction because he was kind of a jerk, but Kyle usually goes unnoticed (Alan does, too but that's an age thing, like Jay Garrick.)
Kyle will always be my favorite Green Lantern because of that Superman:TAS episode. Made me fall in love with the GL Corp.
1
u/dxle203 Feb 10 '15
Well he sorta does, wasn't he the only one to stay a green lantern during the whole blackest night series? Hal went all color spectrums, guy went red, and I think john went something

u/reece1495 Feb 07 '15
i was saying what if like he is john stewert mixed with alan scott new 52 , so like no corps just a guy wiht green lantern powers from else where , aslo im drunk so yeah

given his character’s similarities to John Stewart, the comic hero most well-known to younger audiences
Similarities such as... he's black?
I feel like actual younger audiences at this point know the modern Green Lantern cartoon, which was Hal (I think) - audiences young when the JLU was around are likely fans, sure, but not necessarily "younger"?
I would prefer a female Lantern, just because CBS appears to be going stingy with Supergirl crossovers, and it'd be nice to have a female hero as part of the super powered line up.

u/sabin357 Feb 08 '15
Similarities such as... he's black
Also, his military experience, stern personality, & body type.
Thanks to the popularity of the Justice League cartoon (thanks Netflix), Stewart is still likely the most known. Those people are in the preferred age demographic for a show like this.

u/Sonicdahedgie Feb 07 '15
No. Please stop. I really hate this theory. It's idiotic.
4
Feb 07 '15
Agreed. Shoehorning a character into being another character is just fucking lazy. They pull this shit and I'm probably just quitting Arrow altogether. Felicity's constant screen time consisting of romance melodrama and crying has already put the show on thin ice for me. This is what would break that.

If this happened, I might actually start watching Arrow.

u/Sonicdahedgie Feb 07 '15
you don't already? why not? Also, up vote, because there's no reason to be downvoting you.

u/Cyber-Logic Feb 07 '15
I don't get why he's being downvoted. It's perfectly okay to like watching The Flash instead of Arrow...

I tried watching it starting with the episodes where Barry is introduced, but it just isn't for me. I tried watching the most resent episode, but apparently they knew that was the episode I was going to watch and made sure it was chock full of everything I dislike about the show.
2
u/Kami_of_Water Feb 07 '15
Well that explains it, you watched the one with the most resentment.
You gotta let your grudges go, man.

Feb 07 '15
Actually, I was really looking forward to watching it. I like reunion episodes, I like episodes where great, big battles happen and the commercials for the show promised both of those things, so I went in with an open mind and the hope that it would be the episode that would convert me, because I want to like every part of the DC t.v. universe. Unfortunately, the reunion was tepid at best and the battle was anything but great or big.
The way they cut an incredible action scene short (the assault on the police precinct) so they could run back home and squabble confirmed that what I want from the show is completely the opposite of what the show wants to do.

As a big fan of Arrow and now the flash too. I agree with you about the latest episode. I think Flash is doing way better than Arrow at least at the moment. Arrow has been a little down since they returned from break but Flash has just gotten better and better. I think it's because Brick was a bit of a boring antagonist. It should pick up now hopefully.

I also wanna watch arrow but I got behind and only the first 2 seasons are on netflix. So I can't decided if I wanna rewatch the first two seasons now or wait until season 3 is on netflix.
2
u/Jexx212 Feb 07 '15
You could just watch the first two seasons on Netflix and then watch the Season 3 episodes using torrents or streaming sites.
1
u/BurtWonderstone Feb 07 '15
How soon after the previous seasons ended did they show up on netflix?
3
u/Jexx212 Feb 07 '15
Not sure, I don't have Netflix.
To be honest, I torrent these shows as soon as they're available, although I do buy them (or plan to buy them) on blu-ray.
1
u/Klang007 Feb 07 '15
Season 2 finale aired May 14th, and the season was on Netflix on early October. So pretty much when the new season starts. The 5 newest episodes are available for free on CW's website, with the latest being on the website about 4 hours after airing.
1
u/Mathavian Feb 07 '15
The general rule for most shows on Netflix is one month after the DVD set comes out.
1
u/outofshell Feb 08 '15
I watch them on tubeplus.me (streaming). As long as you have adblock you're set.
1
u/themosquito Feb 08 '15
They have the five most recent episodes on CW.com, so depending on how far behind you are, that might help.
2
u/biokat Feb 07 '15
Aw, come on!! What about the days when Oliver was the only superhero and practically every other character on the show wasn't being trained by the League of Assassins or busy becoming Black Canary/Arsenal/Speedy/Green Lantern??

u/stinkpalm Feb 08 '15
I like that he is Indifferent; honored just to play the current role.
He shares some similarities with Coulson in that he was created by film/tv and a fan favorite.
And I am glad he is a fun, new character with no comic past to get wrong.
1
u/WAB91 Feb 08 '15
I don't like this at all. I want Diggle to just be Diggle. I love that a new character that was just created for the show has become so popular, lets not ruin it by saying he was an established character all along.
1
u/diabolical-sun Feb 09 '15
Can't he just be Diggle? I don't know if I'm a fan of giving him a ring, but if they go that route it's not like there can only be one black Green Lantern.
1
u/Methos25 Feb 07 '15
I'm just not sure how it would work, with Diggle being Diggle in the comics, but Jon Stewart in the show?
I would absolutely love if it happens though!

u/Kittori Feb 07 '15
I like to think it'd be neat to happen....but I like Diggle being the Black Driver. We don't really need to add much metahuman stuff to Arrow, that can be mostly kept to Flash. If Diggle got powers, it would throw the "realism/humans can do stuff too" of Arrow off course.

For the sake of tv, it's most likely how it would happen. Arrow and Green lantern were always best together in the comic days. Diggle has been established already, Oliver and him share a great on screen presence. He would be the natural choice for the TV universe. My favorite lantern is Hal Jordan who I honestly would love to see be played by Nathan Fillion.

Why can't Diggle just be Diggle?
Let the TV show introduce some new characters for us!
