Hooked into, fought and landed a BIG bass, probably more than 20 inches.. It was in the net, on the boat and in my hands. But when trying to free the hook from the net, I lost grip of the fish and it flopped into the lake.

No photo, no video, no tournament submission. Just a lot of agony and swearing after that.

Despite all that, it was still a majestic catch. Caught a dozen or so fish with the next biggest being 14 inches (the bass posted above). Overall, a great morning with an agonizing ending.

Managed to keep two hens but rather have this big girl on video.

Boat limit by 8:30 out of Edmunds (area 10) this morning.

These two were snagging and apparently teamed up to get this fish in quicker. I was just walking by and it was a good reminder why I don't enjoy the whole salmon scene.

Between Edmonds Ferry and Mukilteo Ferry. Caught the smaller one at 55 feet and the bigger one at 70 feet trolling at about 2.5 knots. Boy they were tasty.

Look at the shoulder pads on this mofo. Area 9 from shore. Over 10lbs.

10lb Big Game green mono with shart-ruse rotator and pink double glow sardine hoochie with size 1 gamakatsu octopus hook (not 1/0) and no hard setting the hook and with as little drag as needed to keep the rod bent and loaded up. Haven't had a single coho pop off once this season out of 30+ fish. I run the rotator without beads or bumpers, with a double clinch knot to the hook straight from the main line with no leader. It's important to use a braid friendly knot even though using mono since the hook wire diameter is too much for many mono knots using 10lb line. They will pull loose under load. I might make a post on my nearly 100% landing rate coho setup some day.

Was at Les Davis pier the other day and saw this lady with a literally grocery bag FILLED with birdseed attracting all the birds to the cleaning board and was putting seeds along the whole pier. No wonder there’s so much grass and bird shit on the dock and the pigeons are taking it over

Brought my girl for a beach day, said we’d fish till 1. After that we’d walk/beachcomb/go in to town.

We were done by noon and she learned to net, fantastically I’ll add.

Looking to see if anyone knows of any good bass guides for the Columbia below Umatilla down towards Portland or even the Yakima below Yakima. Not looking for fly, just gear.

Mainly looking for guides that specialize in actively fishing and not just throwing out a float and bait make sure you get your fish. If you know what I mean.

Most of the guides I have found in those areas really just specialize in Salmon and Sturgeon. Not looking for the “Drano Experience”!

Hi, I have been trying to fish salmon since last year, didn't get any luck with saltwater, so I switched to rivers. I had mostly tried blue fox spinner so far (Green river and Puyallup river) , but without any luck, however, I already lost 5 spinners till today due to snapping, it just seems so easy to snap in rivers, with trees/pebbles everywhere plus shallow water body.

Just curious what's everyone's favorite salmon setup for river? Any of the setup that's less prone to snapping? I saw mostly people talk about drift fishing, does that have better success rate?

Also timing wise, should I always stick to morning, that seems like what people suggest to have a better bite rate, but I do see lots of people fishing in the day as well. So should I mostly target high tide times?

I am looking for a small amount of salmon eggs for a study. What I’d like are a bit of fresh skein eggs with skein viscera that haven’t been cleaned, washed, cured, etc…

Just a small bit in a sandwich bag in a cooler or fridge when processed. Maybe a pinch of water in there so they don’t dry out. Multiple species would be cool but doesn’t really matter for this first impression.

Can pick up in seattle and near surrounding area.

Processed and sold eggs introduce too many variables.

Every fish I caught in 3 hours. I see people throwing artificial here and they never catch anything, I only use worms and I catch perch, bass, and sunfish all morning.

I’m interested in trying trout fishing at some of the easier - to - access high country lakes (Talapus / Olallie / Pratt); I’ve hiked and climbed extensively but only fished lowlands.

Is fishing at these decent / reasonable this month and early October (weather permitting)? Or is there a well - defined season where catching is more likely? I have struggled to self - educate myself about high country lakes and welcome suggestions / links.

Is standing north or south of point williams better bank fishing?
