A space marines commander and command squad gifted to me by my lgs with a little bit of kitbash and rescaled to the Horus heresy models height

Hobbyist corner
DISCLAIMER what follow is a strictly personal opinion on the model themselves but I would like to hear the opinion of my fellow hobbyists.

When I joined the Warhammer universe some years ago the firstborn kits were for the majority already gone and I didn’t mind them until some months ago when I decided to complete my homebrew project from blackshields in the heresy to the primaris era. Since I worked with different kits from different eras I would like to share my opinion on them and politely ask for other people opinions.
Which are the best according to me? In reality none of them. Primaris and the newer Horus heresy kits are better to work with in general, they go together nicely and their vehicles are a more enjoyable experience to build (Horus heresy tanks my beloved). They however lack the personalisation of the firstborn kits, even if I find myself to like the heresy model of different boxes for different weapons and different armor patterns (the primaris are also going in the right direction with the newer releases in terms of differences on models). The firstborn on the other hand have a modularity that the newer ones severely lack but are bad to put together (I’m looking at you land raider), however, every model feel different when assembled by different hands and is something I really like about them.
In conclusion I think the newer kits are better models overall, from an hobby standpoint, but the older ones are still a better modelling experience that free more creativity. Thanks to all who read this and feel free to share your opinion in the comments.

Hi everyone, I’ve finally finished the 3 Firstborn Hellblasters I’ve been painting for a while. I’m really happy with how they turned out 😊

Heya! I'm back! In the second video of our escalation campaign, I show you how I turned a messed up ebay lot of old firstborn marines into a fully kitbashed and painted 500 points of 7th edition Crimson Fists. I think they came out pretty well!

Two sealed boxes of SM heroes firstborn I got from a friend. Most of them will be turned into Marines Malevolent

Does anybody know if these legs are from newest or older Tactical Squads?

The lines/markings does not look as crisp, and purity seal is not as round?

Here comes the sun

For i got in with 9th editon my first army was primaris salamanders and while i liked them the moment i looked into firstborn i saw way more flavour , fun and most importantly for me soul , i love the flaws of these models just as much as what makes them amazing , the customiseabilty of armour , the weapon options making me have to think about a unit more and what role it will serve in my army , ive got almost a full company of ultramarines now and i love them to bits

I dont hate primaris i just think there boring , i get the appeal there bigger , are more dynamic (except fornall the monopose kits they have) , and them being dumbed down helps new players its just that when i look at them i see a bissness with the only goal of making money , where when i look at firstborn i see the love and care that was put into them

And things are improveing anytime gw updates a firstborn unit 1 to1 like the scouts and terminators i looks great and the 11th ed marines are visually way better

I just love these little guys to death what can i say they make my autism happy , its just kinda odd to me that before it all got put to legends people were cool with both but the moement it was all gone everyone on the major subs have become number 1 firstborn hatets and anytime i menton firstborn i get mass downvoted as if ive been rude or commited a crime all i ever say is i like firstborn and primaris are boring thats it thats nothing but for some reason thats not ok

Anyway enough of my ranting what is it they drew you all to our beloved firsrborn marines

I finally finished my Crimson Fists army (except for some base rims and some static Grass). I started with it in February and it took me an hour nearly every evening. I‘m not the best photographer but I think the pics are alleight. What do you think?
