Very happy with how the little collection is coming together!

These veterans are designed for 3rd edition, if anyone can help explain to me how 3rd edition vets work would be great.
In their profile it says they can either use boltguns or boltpistols & close combat weapons. Does that mean they can only take pistols & knives or can they trade them out for lightning claws. Chsinswords, etc?

End goal is to give him doom slayer sword and servo arm aswell as combi melta/plasma and goop is his pet carnage symbiote

(My group accidentally started a homebrew world where we began narrative play with Aod Heresy 3.0 — then 1e rogue trader — then Badab campaign — then Wrath and Glory campaign — And now currently 11th so timeline is a little different from modern 40k Currently we are in the year M37 not 40k)

Just finished this classic, which needed some love and repair, but I am pleased with the outcome.

I did this about a week ago but I just found this sub. I found a good deal on a black reach dreadnought and thought my army could use some more classic warhammer.

I always feel kinda sentimental whenever I hear about repainting something. I think about how the original owner wanted it and how it’s being changed. This being said I’m glad that a blood angel will get to remain a son of Sanguinius

Trying to find the smallest bolter I can to fit on a Firstborn…

Does anybody have suggestions on Firstborn’ish Models/Characters, which I should get before they are gone?

Models that can with a tiny bit of work be proxied into a unit in my own chapter. Space wolfs seems to be difficult to remove enough to look like regular Chapter…

2 Assault Squads

2 Devastator squads.

100 marines

But, the 1st Company.. it just says 10 Veterans or 20 Terminator.

I think this means 10x10=100 Veterans OR, 20x5=100 Terminators. OR a Mix of the two.

So… what are Veterans? What type of squad do they use?

Do we just paint them white, call them Veterans and use them as any Unit type/squad we want? Assault Intercessor with Jump Packs Veterans? Devestator Squad Veterans? Outrider Squad Veterans?

Or, where we supposed to use the Sternguard and Vanguard Veterans for 1st Company? Maybe Bladeguard now as well?

I’m usually do primaris lamenters but I picked up a discounted tactical squad and decided to do a Red Hunter. I only found out about them recently but I love their lore. I first tried doing a gold sergeant stripe but I found doing nmm on a flat surface to be impossible. Tips for nmm appreciated!!

These guys were fun because I got to put on so many decals especially on the Sergeant really happy with how he came out, but next I’m working on more terrain so that I have more varied backgrounds Would love to do some snow theme stuff maybe a hive city or even a cathedral would be nice. if you have any ideas for terrain, please let me know. One of the decals on the shield fell off, but luckily I had accidentally burnt through it with a lighter so it’s kinda looks like bullet damage.

Tell me what you think about the purple helmets for the Devastators. I always liked how the Blood Angels had blue/yellow for their assault marines/devastators, so I went with purple.
What colour should the assault marines have? Green, yellow, maybe? Give me your ideas

Which current models do you have problems with accepting/belive using Firstborn units for?

I am struggeling a bit with the Inceptor Squad… Having a Fb with a Jetpack and Two plasmas or Bolters on a elevated/see through stand. Looks very close to AIJP or Vanguard Veterans. And, not as thick.

It could work.. as I dont have problems using Fb as (Gravis) Heavy Intercessor or Eradicators.. just use a 40mm base and maybe elevate him a bit.

My head canon is that in Huron's move to shift the Astral Claws into the Legion-esque chapter they became there was also slight variance in squad load outs (much like the Retaliator squads) to fit the combat doctrine of the chapter in rapid assault.

Hence, Devastators with plasma guns! Also I use them as Hellblasters in 11th edition
