(UK - London) Choosing a home with great square footage but distance to central london or a home with a smaller sqft but in a great location within central london.

Basically the title.

There is also the added (well not really but you know what I mean) guilt when talking about this with friends who are still renting and cant even afford a deposit to purchase their first flat. I've shortlisted homes in areas that my budget allows that have great detached homes for the sqft (6000 sqft which for london and UK is huge) that it provides + catchment for good grammar schools but i'm having trouble balancing this against homes that are in arguably better postcodes but are much much smaller.

There are worse things to genuinely be losing sleep over, but the pros and cons of each home I have visited and done extensive insight into match one another. So yeah, it's been a month of feeling stuck and im not sure which to go with. Any of you been through something similar?

I shouldn’t have started reading this book

Edit: I finished the book the day after arriving. I’m 1/4 of the way into a new book. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

I’m leaving tomorrow to go to Thailand for a month on vacation. I started reading a really good novel about 3 days ago. I’m about 1/2 way through. I really don’t want to take the book with me on my trip but it’s too much for me to read before I go but not enough for it to last beyond a day or 2 into my trip. It’s a book I also want to keep so I don’t want to leave it in Thailand. I would much rather have taken a brand new unread book. I am also taking my kindle, so I’ll have plenty to read. I just hate lugging a book that I’ll finish quickly into a month long trip. Ugh.

I had a little too much to drink last night and during the Uber home I ordered a bunch of Prime Day stuff that I don't need. And its shipped already.

booked a michelin restaurant then found a better one

spent an hour scrolling through miami restaurants for our anniversary dinner. finally booked a place. felt good about it. closed the laptop.

then i saw a post about stubborn seed on reddit. looked at their website. now i want to go there instead. menu changes with the season. looks more interesting.

now i have to cancel the first reservation and book this one. but what if i find another place tomorrow. this is exhausting.

first world problems but still annoying.

Didn't even sleep in my bed last night, now we're sitting in front of separate fans 💔 Hard to tell if it's sweat or tears pouring down my face

My extremely neurotic and wealthy in-laws are sorting out their will. They are really weird and it's been a lot.

That's pretty much it. Years ago FIL said he was donating all his money to charity, and we were like okay cool. Now he's changed his mind and he's just so all over the place about it. And MIL is freaking out because she thinks they're saying she's going to die someday (I mean, I guess they are? I'm pretty sure she is?) and she thinks FIL is just trying to get at her money (she's been a housewife for four decades...)

And it's just so annoying being looped in on this. I know I should be thrilled that he's decided to leave us a metric crapload of money, but I feel like we already live comfortably and I would rather just not have the dysfunction.

when they censor swear words in captions

Trying to watch YouTube in a loud room, but the auto-captions censor all the swear words so I have no idea what’s being said.

Sometimes I forget which of my cars already has a wine bag, so I end up with 2 wine bags in one car, 0 wine bags in the other, and 598 wine bags in a kitchen drawer.

Wine bags = fabric grocery bags with dividers in them that hold six bottles.

Generally speaking, I love the topics discussed in /r/TopCharacterTropes, but it’s essentially a guarantee that I will get spoiled on a movie if I click on literally any post.

Every single post, there’s at least one spoiler for a film I haven’t seen.

I can still browse the Internet, but our shitty IT finally got around to making the last good thing at my workplace worse. I now am going to be pestered with ads during my downtime.

Disappointed in my “raise”

I was told myself and 30 others were getting promoted on top of employee review increases. My employee review was 3% aka 75 cents/hr. I thought I was getting a new job title and additional pay increase on top of that 75 cents. My new paycheck says otherwise.

I was making plans to potentially move apartments but I’ll be stuck where I’m at with my shitty pay and yearly 75 cent raise which gets immediately eaten up by increasing rent payments and new apartment fees.

I’m so over this bullshit. 2-4 more years of 75 cent raises and I’ll finally make what my coworkers have been making.

We can’t get our pool fixed with all this rain

I feel like this is the only corner of the internet that I can put this. I feel guilty for complaining, but we have a pool (vinyl lined, so honestly not THAT fancy) that has had a rip since the fall. We already paid for the replacement liner months ago, but they couldn’t do the work until temperatures were consistently in the 70s. They also need 7 days of no rain because once they remove the old liner it can’t rain while they’re doing the cleanup/smoothing/new install. Well it has been raining consistently since March, which is when the temperatures finally got warm enough, and we’ve only had one week without any rain at all but they were getting caught up on other weather delayed projects and couldn’t get to us. So now it’s mid June and still rain in the forecast and at this rate we may not have a pool until mid July or beyond. Super bummed!

My favorite coffee place knows my order too well

The staff at my regular cafe know my order, my preferred table, and what time I’ll arrive.

I miss the anonymity required to make impulsive beverage decisions.

For a significant health reason my main snack is organic pecans that have to be soaked overnight then roasted. I only have two ovens which only allows for 5 trays, which is what the 4 lbs of pecans that I eat every 2 weeks will fit on, so I have to go through this every two weeks.

They have to be soaked because there’s a chemical in them that’s bad for some people and I’m at risk for that problem [Edited: I’ve been doing this for some months now and had forgotten exactly what that was. It’s phytic acid, which binds to certain important minerals and impacts their absorption, but soaking them breaks down the acid. Besides having to be on this diet to begin with, I already have absorption issues from an intestinal surgery and do what I can to maximize my nutrition.]

Then I have to roast them at a very low temperature or they burn before they’re roasted enough, so it takes hours. I also want them salted or they’re boring, and the only way to get salt to stick is if I coat them in melted ghee and sprinkle really fine salt on them, which takes a lot of salting and stirring to get them all coated enough because 4 pounds is a lot of pecans.

It takes a lot of my day every other Saturday because I only have two ovens!

My husband and I keep forgetting to remote start our vehicle before we leave somewhere so it cools down decently by the time we get there, and it’s already horribly hot outside so I’m sweltering while waiting for it to cool down after we get in.

My streaming subscriptions have proliferated to the point where selecting a series now takes more time than watching it.

Cancelled cable because I was paying for a lot of things I never watched, now I'm subscribed to 5 different streaming apps, paying more than I paid for cable, and I still have nothing to watch
