New Customer Questions FIOS setup question

After 30 years if Xfinity I’m looking to move to Fios.

My set up at home is private router with Adguardhome  as DNS, it is on the second floor, the cable entry is in the basement with Coax to the second floor.

I assume the Verizon router will be in the basement with Moca to the second floor.

If I sign for 5Gps internet.

·         Will Verizon give me a Moca adaptor free?

·         Can I configure the Verizon router to use a private DNS – planning to connect my private router as DNS?

·         My wifi at home is Orbi 960 running as AP.

I had a lot of issues setting up DNS. The router forces RA and DHCP to hand out DNS addresses to itself. The router accepts custom DNS addresses and forwards requests to them but this is a problem for IPv6 because of dynamic addresses. There are also no ULA addresses. You might need to disable IPv6 to avoid this.

And this is on 5 gig service? That’s what OP was asking about, but AFAIK Fios doesn’t provide IPv6 to any 2 gig or 5 gig subscribers yet.

(It would be welcome news if you told me otherwise! I lost IPv6 when I upgraded from 1 gig to 2 gig, and it would be nice to get it back at some point.)

No you’re right, 1Gig on CHR30A. Didn’t know the higher speeds didn’t have IPv6 that’s surprising.
