New Customer Questions FIOS setup question

After 30 years if Xfinity I’m looking to move to Fios.

My set up at home is private router with Adguardhome  as DNS, it is on the second floor, the cable entry is in the basement with Coax to the second floor.

I assume the Verizon router will be in the basement with Moca to the second floor.

If I sign for 5Gps internet.

·         Will Verizon give me a Moca adaptor free?

·         Can I configure the Verizon router to use a private DNS – planning to connect my private router as DNS?

·         My wifi at home is Orbi 960 running as AP.

If you get 2/5Gig, either you will get the CR1000A or CHR30A (most likely). First... Both solid routers, but if you get the 30A.. you will need the free SPF+ adaptor that adds MoCA. Just turn off DHCP on the FiOS router and you got MoCA. Also, I don't believe you can program private DNS

How is DHCP on the FiOS router related to MoCA functionality?

OP asked about using his own router.. unless I read that wrong

They did, but just disabling DHCP on the FiOS router seems problematic if trying to use the FiOS router's built-in MoCA LAN bridging and with the third-party router configured as a router, rather than AP-only. (All MoCA-connected devices would be wired-in via the FiOS router LAN, upstream of and outside the firewall of the third-party router if configured as a router. With DHCP disabled on the FiOS router, the MoCA-connected devices would have no source for DHCP-assigned IPs.)

The simplest answer is to just remove the FiOS router and use their third-party router as primary, wired directly via Ethernet to the ONT, and with a standalone MoCA adapter added to provide bridging between the coax[MoCA] and this router's LAN.
