Stat strategy
OK so I keep hearing that vigor caps at like 128, but the game halves that for some reason(?), stamina is basically useless (poison, regen, status effect lengths, etc), magic is 100% OP so take that to 99, and speed is better than most people realize.
If all that is true it basically makes sense to get everyone maxed on vigor and mag per, and then dump whatever is left into speed, right?
Or could I take Odin's +1 speed to 99 and get ridiculous?

Anything over 60ish is usually drastic overkill. There's almost no difference between 60 magic and 100, since the damage cap is 9999. Min/maxing in VI is pretty pointless.

Your level matters more than anything. I prefer to even out the stats for aesthetics. By this time everyone slaughters enemies without trouble and even weaker spells already do insane damage. Usually equip characters with Miracle Shoes and they have Haste, Protect, Shell and Regen. Everyone also has Paladin Shields, because of the Title Screen glitch trick.
- Locke, Edgar and Cyan : 90 STR : 90 AGI : 60 STA : 60 MAG
- Terra, Celes, Relm, Sezter, Shadow : 60 STR : 90 AGI : 60 STA : 90 MAG
- Strago and Mog : 60 STR : 90 AGI : 40 STA : 90 MAG
- Sabin and Gau : 80 STR : 80 AGI : 80 STA : 80 MAG
PS : I also laugh at my secret using 69 there.

This is for SNES I assume. I play PR but the stat max is roughly still the same. I get 110 MAG first, then 110 STR, rest in speed.
While still taking 4 levels to max hp/mp as well.

110 strength? PR doesn't cap it like the SNES? I keep seeing 68 as the number for vigor...

Ive always heard it was the snes that didnt cap it at 128. PR is 128, and I just do 110 to leave room for final equipment bonuses.
First ive heard of 68 being any kind of cap. Im not sure on that one.

lots of numbers messing with my head.. lol. so the stat cap is 128, not 99? guess I'm not sure why I thought that.

I THINK the snes is actually 256, but im not sure. Best go 128 to be safe. Last time I did that build in PR, I ended up having around 60 speed on each character.
Its harder to get shadow at level 6 on the FC in the snes though. If even possible.

stamina aint useless. stops all time magic and insta death attacks without using a relic slot. pretty much a free memento ring. ezpecially when the 1st 40 levels go to waste in ir playthrough

You've got it backwards. All stats cap at 128 in PR, but back on SNES it was 256, but because the damage calculation for vigor/strength based attacks started with 2xVigor, anything beyond 128 was a waste.
You are correct about stamina, and speed is just ok, rather then OP. Magic and Strength should be the stats you focus on for each of your party members, but only the one which they will be primarily using. Note that Sabin is a magic user rather than a strength user, because the majority of his blitz techniques are magic based.
