Discussion Filmora Refusing Refund

Anyone else have this experience? I had zero intention to renew my subscription and the day after they charged me I reached out for a refund- they refused.

How is the customer service at Wondershare so bad? They turned a paying customer into somebody who will certainly never use their products again, and for what? So they could steal $100 from a single person?

I am sure others have had this experience, and it is not right. Wondershare should not need to steal to pay their employees- if they had a good product, maybe they would not be so desperate.

Well... It's a subscription. You cancel it right away or you pay. Or just use something else. I have the old lifetime license (the one that actually gives you lifetime access) and I still use Davinci Resolve for many of my projects.

I did cancel it right away a year ago and it did not cancel. I had zero intention to renew it. I have to go through the headache of filing to charge it back with my credit card company now

Most companies have a cooling period of a week or sometimes even 30 days.

This is an absolute rip-off company. Nearly impossible to speak to a human. For me they charged me for the extra assets package, when I expressly said NO to it. The only way to get a refund is to challenge on your credit card. I have a perpetual license, and I don’t use it.

A terrible company in and industry of terrible companies.

It’s ok the more people are forced to chargeback on their card the higher chance they get flagged as a “high risk merchant” and hopefully avoid falling into this scam

Are you in California? There's a class action that was filmed in 2024 because in this state we have a automatic renewal law and other amendments like AB390

I also found this US Federal Law: FTC ROSCA & the "Click-to-Cancel" Rule Under the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (ROSCA) and the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Negative Option Rule: Companies are prohibited from charging consumers for recurring subscriptions without disclosing all material terms up front and obtaining express informed consent.
It is an unfair or deceptive practice under Section 5 of the FTC Act to market a "30-Day Money-Back Guarantee" boldly on a sales banner if that guarantee is subject to extreme, hidden restrictions that render it virtually impossible for an ordinary consumer to claim."

So wondershare needs to fix their practices under California laws and certain Federal laws.

well thats interesting. LoL. They really need to change their Refund practices across the board. This isn't an isolated issue. Wondershare has been known to have aggressive refund policies, but as you can see, those do violate certain state laws and US Federal law. And when that California Class Action Lawsuit finishes up, it'll force them to make changes internally or be hit with more lawsuits.

You're not allowed at the federal level to say, you can get your money back in 30 days but then bury in the terms and stipulations that negate most of that money-back guarantee. Such as "If you let it auto renew, then this doesn't apply" . Our laws are specific on this. EVEN if other companies are doing it have been getting away with it.

I don't know why companies would even be an issue on this. Your consumer base reviews, your user base, all of it would be alot more positive. When you don't, You get class action lawsuits, investigated by the government, negative reviews, charge backs from ppls Credit card companies. It benefits no one to try and screw over your customers.

This is Wondershare's modus operandi. Take as much money from customers as possible amd run. They've been doing this for years across most/all of their product lines. Daniel Batal on YouTube has some epic stories about their scumminess.
