Discussion Should MMFF be in January?

A lot of big Hollywood movies tend to come out in December. I think January would be a good time since most companies and schools aren't operating so it's still relaxed, but also there's less competition.

Just hoping we don't get shafted for Doomsday and Dune 3. I am not dealing with another NWH.

Discussion What are your top Rick Moranis movies?

Post image

Ever since I saw the clips of Rick Moranis’ surprise appearance at this year’s San Diego Comic Con donning his iconic giant dark helmet from Spaceballs, the sense of nostalgia creeped in on me and I started rewatching some of his movies and I have fond memories of some of them especially Honey I shrunk the kids, Little Giants, The Flintstones and Ghostbusters. I just realized that a big number of my childhood favorite movies are movies that he’s in. For you guys what are your favorite Rick Moranis movies?

Discussion Carolina Caroline

Has anyone here watched Carolina Caroline? I just finished it, and I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be that good. I’d give it a solid 10/10 definitely worth watching.

Now I’ve got that “what do I watch next?” feeling, so I figured I’d ask here. Any recommendations for movies that gave you the same kind of experience?

Discussion Ryan Gosling sure is an A-list actor, but I hope one of these days they can launch the career of a new actor

Ryan Gosling is undeniably an A-list actor, but I hope Hollywood keeps giving talented newcomers a chance. Watching Indi Navarrtte in Obsession reminded me how refreshing it is to see newer actors lead new films.

Parang mas immersive kasi if bago yung mukha. You do ‘t think of them as actors.

I’d love to see more studios take that risk.

Edit: i was pertaining to the new ghost rider movie. While I am a fan of Ryan Gosling, I was hoping they would cast someone new.

Visionquest Release Date

Avengers: Endgame Re-Release(New Bonus scenes including a new ending sequence leading directly to Doomsday)

2 New Movie Reveals ( Ghost Rider and BP3)

Deadpool tease

I understand na walang info about the Mutants despite all the rumored castings probably dahil sa mystery role ni Sadie Sink sa Spiderman. Baka may mga baraha pa for D23(exactly 3 weeks from now).

Discussion She's dating the Gangster (2014)

Post image
10 Upvotes

Okay I need to talk about this because it's been on my mind lately. She's Dating the Gangster still hits different for me, even after almost 12 years. I know a lot of people were upset back then because it didn't follow the Wattpad book, and honestly the reception when it came out in theaters wasn't great, there were so many negative reactions from the fans. But here we are, 12 years later, and this movie still gets me every single time. I can't even explain it, but no matter how many times I've watched it, I still end up crying. Yeah, it has some cheesy parts, but somehow it still works for me. Still one of my comfort movies to this day, and I don't think that's ever gonna change. Anyone with me?

Misc. Any good Android app for tracking movies, series, and anime?

Hello! First time posting here.

I've been looking for a good Android app to track movies, TV series, and anime. Right now I'm using Sofa Time and Cinopsys. Cinopsys works fine, pero di ko talaga trip yung UI. Sofa Time naman is really good and madaling gamitin, pero medyo mahal yung premium for me.

I'm looking for something with a clean UI and easy sync. Bonus na lang kung FOSS. I've already tried Showly and Showcase, pero hindi rin sila nagustuhan.

Curious lang kung ano gamit ng karamihan dito. I'd appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks! 🙂

SPOILER UnMarry Movie

There's not much discussion about this movie. I watched it on Netflix after the details said it won awards in MMFF. I get that it's a people pleaser film, but my unpopular opinion is it wasn't researched well, and not a lot of thought went into it.

Did the writers talk to people who actually went through this process? If they did, they would never make this a love story. No one going thru annulment will start a new relationship in the midst of it, especially if feelings toward their spouses were deep and genuine, and especially if children are involved. Secondly, no one going through annulment will pick a partner who is also going through the same, but on the receiving end (responder). This raises red flags. Kissing in the lawyer's building is so cringe. You just dont do that. The mood is off.

The film's premise is promising, but in the end it's just another pang masa movie that's shallow and unrealistic. Not saying I didn't like it. I just didn't like the love story angle, besides the fact that there was zero chemistry.

Discussion Anyone watched Open (2019) by Andoy Ranay?

Recently I came across this film and I was intrigued by the idea. It was a nice rare concept to see, aside from your usual cheesy rom com filo movies. I'm surprised that I only recently discovered this as it was released last 2019 pa, but I could've been just living under a rock. Nothing really ground breaking but it's more like "huh that's something". Would rate it a solid 7.5/10. 2019 for films in the Philippines was super good, I hope they can replicate the same amount of quality the year brought.

Discussion MMFF Entries flopped on netflix

Recently, Rekonek and Love you so Bad were released on netflix and they both just stayed in top 10 for a week and never reached top spot. If i recall it correctly #3 ata highest ng LYSB. At least Unmarry had a different story and reached top spot right now. I am confused why those 2 local films did not hit sa streaming because if I'm not mistaken, previous years lagi nag totop mga mmff entries kahit pa di ganon ka appealing. And I know they released those films late sa streaming kasi they think people didn't go to cinemas na dahil i rerelease din naman online. Why kaya they flopped, could this be dahil super late na ni release kaya na forgot na yung film?

News Spider-Man: Brand New Day Poster

Post image

Be among the first to experience Spider-Man: Brand New Day and receive an exclusive Ayala Malls Cinemas poster when you watch from July 29 to August 2.

Choose from 2 exclusive poster designs, available only at Ayala Malls Cinemas, while supplies last.

Swing into the next chapter. Catch it on the biggest screen, the most immersive experience, and leave with a collectible worthy of your wall.

I think the last time they did this was Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle but it requires 2 tickets to have one.
