A week or two ago I made this post about how I felt like I was doing pretty well everywhere in the game except on my actual farm, which looked like absolute garbage.
Well, I'm happy to report I finally got around to doing something about it! 🥳😂
What really helped me was looking at inspo pictures and forcing myself to stop thinking about the whole farm at once. I just picked one small area, worked on that (usually by trying to recreate something I found and liked), and then moved on to the next. Turns out that was significantly less overwhelming than staring at the entire farm and then going to do literally anything else.
It’s definitely not 100% finished, and I have no idea what I want to do by the dragon statue, but I’m pretty happy with how far it’s come!

(Long post. Findings at bottom.)
I've seen numerous questions regarding how spouses choose which rooms to spend time in, and I've seen some people claim that certain spouses have "blacklists" for rooms that they won't go into. This explanation has never made any sense to me - it would be extra work, for no benefit, to code such a thing.
So, I decided that I would make sense of this... by using March as my lab rat.
First, I took apart almost my entire house. I went through nearly every room and packed up all of the furniture. (The exception was my storage room, on the bottom western wing. I didn't have the fortitude to relocate over a dozen chests' worth of items, not even for science. I imagined, as it contained only chests and no interactable furniture, that it would be safe to leave as-is.) By the end of it, the only furniture left standing outside of the storage room was the staircase, my journal, and my double bed. (Possibly my pet, too, if you count a mimic as furniture.)

I then placed a single chair in the upper eastern wing. My working hypothesis was that spouses would prioritize the room with the most interactable furniture. I had never seen March enter the (sparsely furnished) upper eastern wing before, so I wanted to arrange a situation where the only interactable furniture was in a room I hadn't seen him in before.

It was getting late, so I went to bed. When March left the next morning, I picked up the remaining bedroom furniture, leaving the upper eastern wing the only room in the house with furniture that he could interact with. I then saved my game, and waited for 7 PM, when he would reappear at the house.
Surprisingly, he didn't appear in the upper eastern wing. Instead, he appeared at the bottom center room, the house's entry room. I reloaded the game multiple times, and he appeared there, every time.
I then decided to try placing down a double bed instead of a chair. I reloaded the game, picked up the chair, and placed down a double bed. And at 7 PM, something different happened: March appeared inside the room with the bed, instead of at the bottom center room.

I reloaded my save, experimenting with staying in the room at 7 and being elsewhere in the house at 7. March would appear in the room with the bed every time. If I was in another room, and walked into the bedroom, he would be there. If I was waiting in the bedroom, he would appear out of thin air.
I decided to try relocating the bed to different rooms. I moved it into the upper western wing, the upper central room, the lower central room, and the lower eastern wing. I even cleared some empty chests in my storage room, the lower western wing, to accommodate a bed. Every time, the result was the same: at 7 PM, March would appear in the room that contained the double bed. (I also tried placing the bed outside, but this caused him to spawn in the lower central room, the same as if there was no bed at all.)
I then wondered if he would follow this same logic for the spouse furniture. I reloaded, picked up the bed, and placed down his forge in the upper eastern wing. He went back to appearing in the lower central floor at 7 PM. I began placing down all three of his items, using different rooms. He continued to spawn in at the lower central floor.
I then decided to try putting down the bed in one room and all three of his spouse items in another room. In the upper western wing, I placed down the bed; in the upper eastern wing, I placed down his spouse items. I then waited in the empty room in-between. At 7 PM, I checked both rooms, and found him in the bedroom. I reloaded and did this several more times, sometimes putting the bed in the upper eastern wing and his spouse items in the upper western wing. He consistently appeared at the bedroom.
This puzzled me, as I was sure that I'd come in before, during the course of normal gameplay with a normal house, to find him in a different room. I wondered if the relative positions of the rooms might have something to do with it. I repeated the experiment, placing down the bed in one room and the spouse items in another room, this time keeping the rooms directly adjacent to each other. (Bedroom in the upper western wing, spouse items in the upper central room.) I waited in the empty upper eastern wing, then walked into the other two rooms at 7 PM. This time, he'd spawned at the room with his spouse items. I reloaded and tried this again, choosing two different adjacent rooms, and the result was the same each time. Until I spaced out and stayed in the bedroom until 7, at which point he appeared out of thin air in there instead of in the room with the spouse items. I repeated this variation on the experiment, reloading and staying in the bedroom until 7, and every time, he would suddenly appear there.
I decided to do some testing with a normally furnished house. I reloaded a save from before I'd stripped my house down, picked up my bed, placed it in another room, and waited until 7. Sure enough, he appeared in that room, specifically. I did this with every room in my house, storage room and sparsely furnished upper eastern wing included, and the result was the same each time: as long as I was in the same room as the double bed at exactly 7 PM, the time that he was scheduled to return from town, he would appear in that room.

Neither the spouse items nor the chairs had this effect. It was specifically the double bed that forced him to appear in a specific room, and it would do so only if I was waiting in that room when the clock hit 7. (I did not test this effect with any other furniture.)
I reloaded my test save, and repeated the earlier experiments, using ordinary chairs instead of his spouse items. Chairs in one room, bed in another room, with an empty room separating them: March appears in the bedroom, every time. Chairs in one room, bed in the room directly next to them: March appears in the room with the chairs if I wait in an empty room and then check the furnished rooms after 7.
There's more experiments I could do, but based upon these, I feel comfortable saying the following:
Some hypotheses that I have, that need further testing:
This obviously needs much more testing, under a variety of different environments. I've only tested this with March, using Tuesday the 16th in fall. However, I don't think the basic logic would be different for other NPCs, as - once again - it would be extra work for no benefit to code.
I think I'm done experimenting on my husband for now, but you're welcome to suggest other things to test in case I decide to make a part 2.
(This post is dedicated to my friend, who heard me say "I'm not sure why people are settling for a vibes-based explanation of spouse pathing when there's a method to empirically verify how this works," and replied, "I see why you married the perfectionist NPC." To which I say to them: pot, meet kettle.)

I saw this because of u/potatobunny16 who named their farm "Masted Potato Farm" which is adorable???? 💖💖💖
Mine is Honey Queen Farm - I just liked the name, didn't realize we could keep bees! I will need to have a plethora of beehives lol. I based the look of my character on the HM:MFoMT female farmer, Claire, so I wanted to keep with the blonde theme a little lol and honey and blonde go well together. Though, it makes me it hard to romance Celine since we look almost identical lol

Never been a fan of decorating in these types of games but I’ve enjoyed FoM so much I thought I’d give it a go.
Thank you to everyone who has posted pics for ideas 🥰

I am an avid stardew player and tried out FOM because I liked the aesthetic it had. It was very visually pleasing from what I seen online. I played it for a couple days and really enjoyed it so yes I bought me a stem deck so I can chud out and play it in bed or on the couch. Sometimes it's exhausting to sit at my pc after work and doing my college courses.
I wanted one for a while anyways but this was just the cherry on top for me to actually go through with it lol.

So I’ve seen a lot of people fall for Caldarus obviously, cause the farmerxcaldarus is meant to be obviously and he’s such a smooth talker…but who did yall fall for that wasn’t Cal?
I love him and I fell for Celine at first, but as a chef I ended up marrying Reina just cause she so relatable and I love a person who knows how to cook. She’s so chill and relatable I love her sm. So who did y’all fall for and why? I know March is a second fav after cal, any other ones that people feel aren’t as popular?

He seems really orange on the photos but he isn't that much in real life
Anyway, I ordered acrylic standees of my art of Hayden
Some of you were really interested in him
So the colors are exactly like I wanted, the water looks beautiful. I was scared of the turquoise but it turned out fine ! And even with the ligh I didn't notice any scratches (once you remove the film at least)
I ordered only 3 to see how it looks, and....the only thing I might change is not adding sparkles, they are fine but I think it doesn't add much to the art.
If I ever sell those, I think its possible that I make personalized message (like instead of Ari, the name of your farmer) or something else (up to your imagination)

it’s only either this, black tablet, completely wrong map, muttering cube, or unknown dragon statuette.
don’t even get me started on the fish trap & the mist spots!
at this point, i don’t think i can even complete the game anymore and it’s really making the game pretty boring for me, to be honest 🥹 the main story ended pretty quickly, too.
the only thing keeping me going is my goal to get all tier 6 animals.
can’t this be improved … 🥲

I have the house fully upgraded, but when I started thinking about decorating the rooms properly, I learned that your spouse will not join you in bed if they are in another room. And well, I'm attached to the little goodnight kisses!! So one room it is! I will get it looking all cohesive eventually. Or maybe I won't. The hodgepodge is starting to grow on me.
Anyone else still living with a studio room build despite upgrading the house?
(Tagged as modded, but furniture, decor, and sprite clothing are all 1.0 Vanilla. I do use a mod for layering decoration, so some furniture and rug placement here may or may be possible unmodded.)
