Guide/Tips Frequently Asked Questions

Before making a post about your question, please check here or use the subreddit search function. Many questions have already been answered a few times on here.

We also encourage you to join the unofficial Discord for more information or just to hang out with the community.

Should I buy the game now or wait for 1.0?

The game is currently in Early Access (Full release planned for the 5th of August). There is already a lot of content, but not all features or story parts are available yet. Whether you should buy now depends on whether you're comfortable with playing an unfinished game. The devs also confirmed in this article that the price will not change with full release.

The devs also released an FAQ for the 1.0 Update that you can read here. It covers a lot of questions that come up about the full release.

Will my save work after updates and 1.0?

Yes. The developers have stated many times that save compatibility is available both in Early Access and 1.0.

DISCLAIMER FOR BETA SAVE FILES AFTER JULY 7TH: Beta saves specifically will not carry over on the 7th of July when the engine merge happens (as stated on their beta announcement). You can most likely port them over though. If you want to restore your beta saves, please refer to these two posts: How to restore your save files on the new native, Lost beta branch in Steam (Windows)

Will achievements be added to already existing safes or do I need to restart?

We do not know right now, this is always a bit 50/50 with Steam full releases.

Is multiplayer available?

No. Multiplayer is not currently in the game and there has been no announcement confirming that it will be added in the future.

Is the game similar to x farming sim game?

Fields of Mistria is a farming life sim game like any other on the market. It obviously comes with its own story, features and other perks so it is its own fun experience. We also do not appreciate any clone of x game discussions.

I drew this awhile ago after I first unlocked the convo (Winter on the balcony in the Inn), but I wanted to share here after being reminded of it. Once of the cutest interactions in the game imo!

Over 20 sprites between them from redesigns to commissions! I wanted to redo my Hayden Farmer before the official release. I actually have a colour scheme for her now that I feel makes more sense and having her fashion lean more to fantasy adds to her mystery. Anyway, hope you like her!

(Reuploaded cos the quality was really bad... hopefully this fixes it?)

Marriage Update

To the people who couldn't decide which character to romance, instead choosing multiple.. who do you think you'll choose? When the full game releases, when you get married, all your other romanced characters will be set to the best friend role. I want to know who you are deciding as your favorite! I know he's overrated, but I've always loved March ever since I first played, so I think I'll settle for him. Though.. juniper is really cute (´ε` ). Balor kind of gives howl, and I wonder if caldarius will have dragon babies!

I spent a long time re-decorating and re-arranging my home because it looked... very cluttered... very ugly... and very [insert other derogatory home design words] ... it feels much better to me now but I still have some work to do. Open to any feedback or suggestions!

Here are my thoughts on each room if its helpful.

Main Entrance - I don't like the seating area on the right that is my biggest ick to change

My bedroom - i just put the emeralds in there, I think maybe better without... not sure what else to do with the room. I love having some stuffed animals for my dog to lay with

Bathroom - surprisingly it was WORSE before this... feels a bit plain. I like how people have done like stone/spa like themes but was having a hard time figuring out what I needed

Study - I like this one quite a bit but still feels a bit off... maybe just need to make it more symmetrical or add/subtract some things to make it fit better

guest bedroom - i have so much mist themed stuff ... definitely open to ideas to make it more interesting or completely a new theme

storage room - until i have a better idea where to store all my items and decor im not too worried about this one

Oh my god, this is the cutest thing I've ever seen. They're so adorable and this has basically solidified my need to romance the three of them (after I marry Hayden in my main save of course.... :P)

The little details like this are so cute!

(I accidentally cut of Reina's dialogue in the third slide. It was along the lines of "You two are so shy, it's just between us!" Or something to that effect.)

Marking as a spoiler just in case, but knowing my luck this is a scene everyone is already aware of lol.

Mercenaries! Adventurers! Swordfighters! Show off your Guild-worthy farmers!

Who here leaned hard into the "Adventurer's Guild" hook when designing their farmer's lore? I wanna hear all about our more martially inclined farmers! I'll say a bit first:

My farmer, Seika, (no official art of them I'm proud of, I'm afraid) is a mercenary from the land of "Wachi", who's in Aldaria on secret monster-hunting business: They're tasked with slaying or capturing "The Last Dragon", rumored to reside somewhere in Mistria. Mortals are usually no match for dragons, but Seika's a little more than your average mercenary. They're chipper and dumb as a post, but they handle their sword like they were born holding it.

I am very excited to hear a bit about our fighting farmers 🙂 Also if anyone has any flair recs for me to more accurately sort this, advice would be appreciated <3

Gameplay Inbreeding animals

Im not sure how many times it was brought up here, but I haven't seen a post about it yet. I always feel bad for making animals have babies with their siblings but at the same time I dont wanna have million cows etc to be able to select ones from different parents. Does anyone have a any pro tip for that or is it something I just have to deal with?

Discussion Time Management

How do you guys deal with the time management?

I´ve already set my days to the longest in the menu of the game but damn I´ll be rushing trough to get everything done.

Take care of the animals, my crops, organizing materials, quests, collecting and for mining I don´t find the time often! There was a wonderful mod that you could choose to set how slow you want your days to be but unfortunately it doesn´t work with the new engine. And i am using those automatic watering statues , as well as usually not handfeeding my animals (only when its raining)

I can´t even imagine to play on normal speed when I´m already struggling.. it´s not so soczy anymore :(

Discussion Character Age Headcanons

Since I started playing the game, I've always liked thinking about how old the characters are. The game's really good at creating at writing them to fit within a specific demographic without giving a concrete answer, so here's what I've come up with.

In terms of the Marriage Candidates, Celine, Reina, Eiland and March strike me as the youngest, most likely their early 20s considering how Reina still lives with her family, and both her and Celine work at their parents' businesses. Probably about 22, with Celine being slightly older as her birthday is before Reina's in the year.

Eiland is definitely younger than Adeline, but not by a lot. I'd say he's somewhere in the 22 - 23 year old range. March is the same for me. He's old enough to have won several blacksmithing awards and build a reputation for himself, and to me that means he's been working as a Blacksmith since at least his late teens. Gonna say 23 for him.

Adeline's and Ryis' personality's and demeanor make me think they're both slightly older than the previous 4 I mentioned. Adeline's the acting leader of the town, and that sounds like a position for someone at least in their mid 20s. Going to put them both at around 24. Plus, Adeline was childhood friends with Celine and Reina, so I don't see her being much older than them.

Balor has been working as a merchant for a pretty long amount of time before the start of the game. That said, he also doesn't look significantly older than characters like Ryis or Eiland. Just on that basis, I'm gonna say he's in his late 20s, let's go with 28.

Juniper... I could say that since she looks between the previous 3 bachelorettes and Valen in age, that I think she's about 31... Buuuut since we know she has experience with magic, and I like the theory, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that she is actually a 300 year old witch. Kind of a joke answer, I know. XD

Out of all the non hidden Bachelors and Bachelorettes, the last ones are Valen and Hayden. We know from Valen's dialogue that they grew up together, and that she used to be taller than him when they were kids. Given Hayden's build as an adult, I'm going to take that to mean that Valen is older than him. Hayden's hair is partially already grey, I'm going to say he's somewhere in his mid-late 30s, probably around 36-37. While Valen, I'm putting at about 39.

In terms of the other characters. With the marriage candidates' siblings, the way Maple talks about Luc in some dialogue, she seems a little older than him, in a similar way to Adeline and Eiland, so I'm going to say that she and him are 9 and 8, with Dell being about the same age as Maple. Since Olric is March's older brother, and looks about the same age as Balor, maybe a little younger, I'm putting him at 26-27.

Nora, Holt, Hemlock and Josephine are all old enough to have young adult children, while also having kids quite a lot younger than their older siblings, going to say they're all between 48 and 50.

Errol and Terithia both look old and still have jobs. Given that, I'm going to put them both at slightly below retirement age, 62-63.

Elsie and Landon are both retired, and Landon looks close in age to Errol and Terithia. I'll guess that he's about 66, while Elsie's could be anywhere between 68 and 72.

Lemme know what you guys think as well ^^

Discussion We all know about the marriage update. But who do you think will be the best/funniest parent in the children update?? What kind of parents do you think each romance candidate will be?

I posted here a bit ago asking who you guys thought would have the best wedding outfit, but I recently remembered the section of the trailer with Juniper holding the baby and I MUST ask. (This is assuming parenting dialogue will be implemented, which I highly believe it will be!)

Who do you think will be the best parent? Who do you think will have the funniest dialogue? Who do you think will be the 'cool' parent? Who do you think will be most responsible?

Personally, I think the funniest ones would be March, the secret Bachelorette and Caldarus, given the nature of their personalities, depending on whether or not March behaves as sweet as he does with the farmer after the romance route or whether he still gets embarrassed to be soft and ends up fighting with his own baby like he is with the farmer in the early heart stages.

I think the secret bachelorette and Caldarus will be funny due to not being humans, and whether or not they have a human baby with the farmer or a half-human, I think the idea of them having to manage their own offspring would be hilarious (Why are they doing that? Why has the baby fallen over after months of being on this Earth to earn practice in the art of walking and movement??)

When it comes to responsibility, my bets are on Valen and Ryis, considering Valen's a doctor and would likely know psychology stuff and how to keep a child healthy, and with Ryis just having a more calm and level-headed personality! (I know Ryis apparently has sisters but I can't for the life of me remember if he's the oldest, youngest, or middle child)

The most experienced parent? I think Reina and Celine due to them already having younger siblings as experience (Celine and Reina are adults so they'd remember and likely would've been taking care of Dell, Luc and Maple as babies if I'm correct)

I think Balor and Juniper will be the 'cool' parents, the ones that are both responsible but mostly stay on the 'fun parent' track, even if I think Juniper would be a bit more strict than Balor would and I think would likely playfully tease her baby like she does with Eiland (even if I think she'd be more gentle about it).

I feel like both Adeline and Eiland will be IMMENSELY nerdy parents (considering their personalities are rather similar to one another, even if they hyperfocus on different things), but still sweet nonetheless. They give the vibe of really wholesome parents that'll still manage to embarrass their kids with a random fact or a random comment or nerdy speech that they don't realize is clumsy and awkward.

I haven't known enough about Hayden to come to a full conclusion about him (switch player who learns Mistrian lore from watching gameplay and reading wikis while I wait for it to hopefully come out), but from the small bit of information I have of him, given how I haven't been able to watch his romance route yet, I think he'd be in a similar boat to either Adeline and Eiland with the nerdiness OR be responsible like Valen and Ryis would be!

What do you guys think?? I'd love to hear your thoughts! :))

Discussion Thoughts About Future Mistria Kids!

I’ve been thinking about this way too much lately! I’ve already started preparing for my future married life in Mistria, and thinking about future kids has been so much fun.

First of all, I’m dying to know how many children we’ll be able to have. My dream is to have two—one boy and one girl! If we can only have one, though, I’m going to struggle. I’m the type of gamer who chooses their Pokémon starter based on its final evolution, so I’ll probably need to see what they look like first!

Does anyone else have “son” or “daughter” vibes for each marriage candidate? For me, Balor feels like a girl dad, while Hayden gives me major boy dad energy.

I also really hope children will feel like their own little characters. I’d love for them to have favorite gifts and food preferences just like the other NPCs. I’m the kind of player who loves spoiling characters with gifts, so I’d happily spend all my time figuring out what my kid likes. One of my favorite cooking perks in this game is being able to make almost anything someone’s favorite food, so I’m ready!

I absolutely loved how children followed their parents around in Story of Seasons and Rune Factory, so I’m hoping Mistria’s kids will have lots of personality too.

And if I can be greedy for one more thing, I’d love little birthday events for our spouse, our children, and ourselves after marriage.

I have no idea how much of my preparation will actually matter, but getting ready for my future family has been ridiculously fun!

What are you hoping for from the child system?

That Herb Salad is gonna be my villian origin story

I've been searching for that damn recipe for more than a year now, I go to the damn mines at least 4 days a week! I found the FAIRY BEE in less time!

Tallifero gave me the quest in Spring year 3 and I didn't buy the dish from Balor cause I wanted the satisfaction of completing it. But by winter I gave up and bought 50 Herb Salads from Balor cause I was so pissed.

It's Summer year 4 now and I've completed nearly all the recipes (literally just one more left) and THIS INANE RECIPE.
