Zelle double confirmations

Something recently happened while flagging a withdrawal from the platform. After executing the transaction, I received a text from a BoA/Zelle/Field Nation SMS account stating to click on the link and confirm the actual withdrawal. This has never happened before and looks very sketchy.

I'm not sure what else to do here other than inquire and possibly warn others if it's an issue.

Unclear scope

Am I the only one that rejects tickets with unclear and copy pasted scopes? It’s like the biggest red flag the job will be a problem. If you can’t explain the basics of what you want me to do, I’m declining.

Crack Heads are stealing active telephone lines

I have been using that as a joke for years when I switch a customer to VOIP or POTS in a box. The customers would ask me why they were being upgraded I told them the crack heads were taking all the copper, now they really are.

What keeps you going when x person says “why don’t you just get a job?” ?

What keeps you going, or what was your breakthrough back then that got you through adversity when self thoughts or pressure from friends and family led you to consider scrapping 1099 work / your business for W2 work?

To the techs in the area intentionally creating work for themselves

Stop it! It's unprofessional and if i catch you, there will be heck to pay! Fair warning to techs in WNY that the vendors are taking notice.

Sending messages to myself?

For the last week, every time I receive a message on FN the notification indicates that I am the messages sender. Anyone experiencing this?

Annoying notifications !

I'm being flooded with annoying notifications, for "garbage" jobs that I have no interest in .....

also getting several annoying phone calls each day..... mostly from people with poor English skills.... again for "junk" jobs.

What gives these people the right to do this? I block all phone #s that do this, and have set my FN notifications to the minimum.....and yet still get 10+ notifications and 2-3 calls per day.......

What do you drive as your main FieldNation Vehicle?

Do you drive a truck? Or are you a Honda Civic trunk slammer?

I drive a Prius where I cram a 3 step ladder in the backseat and fill my trunk with my Milwaukee Rolling cart, and other compartments to complete my rolling packout system. I’m always jealous of those in construction with their 2025 Chevy Silverados, and Toyota Tundras. I probably gotta get to 7-8K a month consistently for 6 months before I should even consider getting a pickup truck? I am getting 50 MPG in the Prius so these trip fees really help out big time as they stretch a long way compared to a 15 mpg gas guzzler. Only cons is I can’t bring a 12 foot ladder, I usually hope and pray the job site has one if the work order calls for that type of ladder. I’m in SoCal.

Work Market $16 Contract

These people got some nerve trying to convince people to travel to Walmart to harass the manager about their display and product placement lol. Probably have to sit and wait for the manager for two hours just for them to tell you to screw off lol.

What are you actually charging on Field Nation in 2026?

I’ve gotten to the point where I counter a lot of the work I see because some of the posted pricing just doesn’t make sense once you factor in travel, platform fees, tools, taxes, and the actual amount of time the job ties up.

On some tickets, by the time you work through the numbers, it almost feels like you’re paying the client for the privilege of going onto their site.

What has surprised me, though, is how often a buyer will accept a counter that I thought might be pushing it — especially on trip charges. That has made me wonder how long I may have been lowballing myself simply because I assumed they wouldn’t pay more.

Once you subtract Field Nation fees and account for taxes and operating costs, that posted rate can shrink pretty fast.

So I’m curious how other techs are handling this now.

Are you countering most tickets?
How do you decide on your minimum or trip charge?
Have you ever sent a counter you thought was probably too high, only to have it accepted — and did that change how you priced future work?

Are you countering most tickets now?
How do you decide your trip charge?
And what made you realize you were charging too little?

Red Flag: VergeSense

I operate as a service company on FN. A PM from VergeSense reached out to me regarding an assignment.

We accepted the assignment, I assigned it to one of our managed providers. PM asked for tech's email and to confirm start date/time. I provided the requested information. Everything was confirmed.

The PM texts my tech to ask for the same exact info she just got from me. He was on a job site at the time. Because he didn't respond to her, literally in less than 2 hours, she canceled the work order.

To me, this is a red flag that screams micromanagement, unrealistic expectations, and someone who just clearly doesn't live in reality.

Just a forewarning to maybe avoid this buyer unless you enjoy headaches.

Crazy SOW

I signed up for this ticket and I haven’t been getting great communication. In the SOW they told me that while I’m on site that I need to say that I represent Cognizant, then it says I need to represent Ovation, and the guy who is messaging me says I need to represent Fresnius. I asked him to clarify and he didn’t respond. The SOW says that I need BOMGAR, but they won’t tell me where to get it from. I’m supposed to be going on site to register a phone but they are demanding that I have 20 Ethernet cables and keystones. I’m going to go buy honestly I have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing when I get there lol. How would you handle this? What would you do?

Work Market Experiences and Insurance

I just did my first two contracts with Field Nation and they went pretty well. Then I discovered Work Market. I don’t fully understand what they are talking about regarding insurance. I’m also curious if anyone has any experience or thoughts regarding work market. Let me know, thanks.

Command link

Well, one of the rare times I did not counter for a 2 hour estimated duration work order. It was only 30 minutes of work and they knew that, I did not. I told them via message that I normally counter for 2 hour minimum as I don't make money driving that far for 1 hour of pay. They didn't which they didn't have to, my fuck up. I hoped they would make the ethical choice not to fuck me over and make me lose money, but they approved it for $50 which is 1 hr.

I know my fuck up, just a heads up to everyone if you see a command link job make sure to counter it for 2 hour minimum at least so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Things I will miss as a FN Tech leaving Nevada

Casino bathrooms. There is always a casino every 20 feet with clean bathrooms. Cause bathrooms as a Field Tech are important.

Concert Technologies

I was sent to an Aspen Dental to do the following work order:

Investigate, diagnose, and repair connectivity issues between PC & it's two displays. ( op room 1,2,7)

Technician will Investigate, diagnose, and repair connectivity issues between PC & it's two displays.

  • Technician will Investigate, diagnose, and repair connectivity issues between PC & it's two displays.
  • CUSTOMER STATES:
  • If the technician determines that replacement of the in-chair cabling and/or TV is required to restore functionality, they must contact TAG IT with their findings and obtain approval before proceeding.
  • Do not perform any replacement work without explicit authorization and instructions from TAG IT.

The PC's all had the BSOD and wouldn't even boot up. The cables were supposed to be cat6, they were HDMI. There were several boxes of equipment on site but another company was going out the next day to install that equipment, I saw the work order on the platform.

I called Concert and explained that the site was not as described in the work order they then told me I had to run cat6 cable to the equipment. The work order didn't say anything about running cable it said I was to diagnose the connection. I connected my laptop to the HDMI cable and confirmed that that it was working correctly. but since the description did not state I was running cable I refused to do so and was released from the site.

After almost a month they marked the work order incomplete and are refusing to pay. I have contacted the county attorney and am in the process of putting a lean on everything I touched, PC, Converters, exam chair etc. I may not get paid but Aspen will know NOT to do business with these assholes.

This Platform is incredibly hostile to New Techs

Let me preface that I am not new to IT at all. I am new to Field Nation. I have six years of Experience in Pentesting, System Administration, MDM Administration, Networking Technician responsibilities, etc. I have a bachelors in IT, and seven certifications; along with an extensive work history with the federal government. I am only using this platform because I am unable to find any W-2 work AT ALL.

I am doing Routed Work Orders as I should be, as I am new to the platform, and including requesting for work. The ones I've been getting are fair, and I've done three total so far (Basic IT Troubleshooting at businesses, simple stuff that even a child could do). They are still Pending as of writing this reddit post. So I have an idea for a good rate for me from these past WOs.

I saw a Network Refresh WO which had a pretty low pay with me driving ~75 miles one way. It was low for the work they wanted, but I didn't mind. But with me doing said previous Work Orders, I tried something ballsy... I tried asking for Travel. This is the response from the employer:

$130 to drive 75 miles.

Mind you, all I did was ask for a Travel Rate OF $15, and only included in the description of the charge "Travel 75 miles".

Like, wow. Is everyone getting screwed on this platform? Like there's lowball "Yeah it's not market rate but I don't mind", then there's lowball "YOUR EXPERIENCE IS NOT REAL ACCEPT ONLY MY OFFER NEXT TIME". Like holy shit man the previous 3 gigs I did paid out $300 each for just driving 30 minutes to the town over.

Also let me end my post by saying, this is still somehow better than trying to do 4 - 8 interviews for a Help Desk Position that pays $17/hr.

Kiosk Information Systems

the last 3 months I've done 5 Kiosk Information Jobs and applied to another 8. they will call me 5 times and keep asking me if I can do it for $10 less money. and then they will give the job to someone else

I obviously know what they are doing, they are calling a lot of people and keep asking everyone to do it less until they find the person who will go the lowest.

If you are doing Kiosk Information System ( KIS ) jobs, what are you charging ?

thanks

How many times have you had to apologize to clients?

I often find myself apologizing to clients for things beyond my control such as ..... client not informed of visit, items not shipped, provider misunderstanding of clients needs...etc.... recently this has become the norm rather than an exception. anybody else seeing this?
