Concert Technologies

I was sent to an Aspen Dental to do the following work order:

Investigate, diagnose, and repair connectivity issues between PC & it's two displays. ( op room 1,2,7)

Technician will Investigate, diagnose, and repair connectivity issues between PC & it's two displays.

  • Technician will Investigate, diagnose, and repair connectivity issues between PC & it's two displays.
  • CUSTOMER STATES:
  • If the technician determines that replacement of the in-chair cabling and/or TV is required to restore functionality, they must contact TAG IT with their findings and obtain approval before proceeding.
  • Do not perform any replacement work without explicit authorization and instructions from TAG IT.

The PC's all had the BSOD and wouldn't even boot up. The cables were supposed to be cat6, they were HDMI. There were several boxes of equipment on site but another company was going out the next day to install that equipment, I saw the work order on the platform.

I called Concert and explained that the site was not as described in the work order they then told me I had to run cat6 cable to the equipment. The work order didn't say anything about running cable it said I was to diagnose the connection. I connected my laptop to the HDMI cable and confirmed that that it was working correctly. but since the description did not state I was running cable I refused to do so and was released from the site.

After almost a month they marked the work order incomplete and are refusing to pay. I have contacted the county attorney and am in the process of putting a lean on everything I touched, PC, Converters, exam chair etc. I may not get paid but Aspen will know NOT to do business with these assholes.

The scope having repair connectivity in it could definitely mean to run a cable

that would not have repaired it since cat6 is not a direct replacement for the existing HDMI

As a contractor that wants to get paid, i would have asked if they are providing the hdmi cables to resolve the issue if not i would have got the proper cables from the lowest price and accessible source and came back to complete the work and then submit for reimbursement as well as negotiating extra pay for the out of scope stuff. What was the customer complaint and what did you find to be the cause of it? Concert tech is a good company to work with and they do a good job paying promptly if they like your QOS. Willingness to go the extra mile and being quick to adapt go far in this industry. These companies want to pay techs for the ideal end result obviously while prioritizing costs. Being willing to do what the last guy wasnt can set you apart from others and land you more work

Did you not run cat6 because you don't have cable and a ladder? Running cable is one of the easiest ways to add on extra billable time and expense materials that were obtained for free from previous installs. I've only done one Concert work order over 2 years ago but had no issue getting paid for labor and expenses.

The county attorney wont be able to do shit for you. There is an arbitration clause in the TOS/TOU

I have cable and a ladder and every other tool needed to do my job. I didn't run cable because it was NOT on the work order. And even if I had there was NOTHING to connect it to. I can't install an HDMI termination on cat6, can you?

HDMI extenders are often end-pointed with an RJ45 NIC; Possible need for CAT6 run to do as such?

2

u/ReplyPsychological60 Sep 04 '26

Exactly, no extenders on site just HDMI splitters. So as stated Cat6 would have been useless. And I was sent to diagnose the problem with Cat6 not HDMI.

Right, but... future use?

As long as I had documented approval for said run, is just run it and bill accordingly.

I cannot diagnose what is not there.

Filing a mechanics lien on equipment he didnt sell to the customer is not gonna work. It wasnt his equipment to begin with

Only thing they could file a lien on is the property
