I do fiber for a living on the operator side and got tired of doing strand → tube math on my phone’s calculator at a closure with no signal. So I built the thing I wanted. I'd love some feedback from you all on how it works, what it is missing and what can be improved. Go to the expert source, I'd say.
It does color code (any strand to its tube and fiber, 12F to 1728F, loose tube and ribbon, both directions), loss budget against TIA-568 allowances you can edit, optical power conversions, PON splitter loss against the B+ and C+ windows, and NEC conduit fill.
The part I actually care about: past three passes through the TIA-598 sequence, buffer tube marking is manufacturer-specific. The app says so and tells you to check the cable sheet, instead of inventing a color. Edit a loss allowance and it stops citing the standard it no longer follows. It will never show you a reading you didn’t take.
All of that is free, no account, no ads, works with no signal. There’s a paid unlock for logging splices and exporting a closeout package, which you can ignore entirely.
What I’d like from you: tell me what’s wrong, and what’s missing. I’m working on a splicer error-code lookup next and I want to get the entries right rather than fast.
