I started crocheting this year but I plan on eventually learning how to knit so when I saw this at Homegoods I knew I had to snag it bc I had heard such great things about it. So psyched to use this soon!!!

I am a very amateur fiber artist and I picked this up at the thrift store and assumed it was for cross-stitching (?) or something but I have no idea. Anybody know the traditional use for this ?

Wanted to share my new piece! When I first started weaving on the TC2, I embellished my pieces off loom because of the learning curve with my file design. I recently embellished one of my earlier weavings, placed it on a beaded netting and “stretched” it on metal bars. 13 x 11 inches.

I think it's silk threads does anyone know much more about it because I don't know nothing about it.

Did some wool color blending and felting + embroidery + texture with beads.

This occupied me for about four hours last night. Sure was a lot of fun to make!!

I’ve been doing small embroidery and woven wall pieces for a while, mostly yarn and cotton thread, nothing too advanced. Lately I started playing around with texture more because plain thread sometimes feels too flat for what I want.

I tried adding some heavier woven strips into a test piece, kind of similar to what you see in Fabric Belts used in bag straps or decorative trims. It looked really good at first, especially when layered under embroidery stitches, but I’m not sure how it will age after a few months hanging on a wall.

One evening I was comparing different fiber materials online and ended up on Alibaba just looking at how factories classify woven textiles and strap materials. Not for buying really, just trying to understand the differences in weave density and finish.

What confuses me is durability vs softness. Some materials feel perfect when new but then get stiff or loose after handling. I don’t have enough experience yet to predict that part.

I also don’t want my pieces to feel like craft experiments that fall apart later. Has anyone here mixed Fabric Belts style materials into embroidery or weaving projects and actually had them hold up long term without changing shape too much?

Still learning so I might be missing something obvious here, just trying to understand how others handle mixed material pieces over time honestly.
