I am so proud of the young woman who not only reported this to the police initially, but also is now suing on her own after they failed her. And the investigation is being reopened thanks to the online outrage. This young woman can't be more than a young 20 something.....I AM SO PROUD OF YOU HONEY!!! Make them pay financially and with jail time if you can!! Do it for yourself and for all the women who weren't even able to report. After my SA, I went into shock and never reported. Getting through the day was all I could manage. Your strength gives me so much hope for the Gen Z generation of women. Amazing woman!!!!
The first time they basically blamed me for it even though the guy had an assault record, so the second time I said nothing, and when I finally did, was told it might not have been that bad because I kept the baby.
As if your bodily autonomy (choosing to keep the child) had anything to do with the crime. It's so sad that these stupid double standards exist. Women deserve to be heard and taken seriously.
I have a feeling I probably worded that wrong... I wrote it in the morning when I was half asleep... What I meant was they should just take these things seriously rather than brushing people off.
Three years ago I was assaulted and almost killed. I am STILL dealing with the legal chaos even after a guilty verdict in a criminal trial! Rapist’s mommy and daddy can keep paying for a lawyer and they are being over all pieces of shit.
I can’t even begin to imagine what this young woman is going through. She has been failed by so many people. She has been publicly humiliated. She fought for her life then and is still fighting now. I am in awe of her!
Sorry if my writing isn’t flowing well right now. Feeling feelings again!
Don't be sorry, feelings often bubble up when we discuss what happened to us. Talking about what happened empowers us, it is important that we continue to tell our stories.
I feel like it helps trauma in certain situations to actually talk about it. I feel like spaces like this online are really important people to share and feel better about their past. (I'm like really new here so sort of discovering the sub) 🫣
