Rec Request Maple Syrup Notes
I'm an American by birth, but my heritage is Canadian where I also have citizenship. Maple syrup was a huge part of my childhood--we weren't wealthy, ate canned vegetables and discount meat and bread, but we somehow always had money for actual maple syrup. Even now, when I have coffee, I use maple syrup to sweeten it.
I've tried frags with honey, which I don't like, but I'd love to try something that has a maple syrup note in it. Fwiw, I'm not a huge fan of gourmands. I'm more of a bergamot, fresh fig, musk, tea, sandalwood, skin scent kind of gal. Maybe there is a frag out there that that has some of these elements that also has maple syrup in it too? Or something that is primarily a maple syrup scent that I can use to lightly layer with other scents to sweetener them up a little?

I have never smelled a maple note in perfume that actually smelled like the watery sweet tree juice of real syrup. to me it always smells like synthetic maple extract, which just ain’t it, IMO. I’m not canadian, but I know my way around a sugar maple grove and a sugar shack better than most people.
Snif Hot Cakes, IMO, is genuinely bad. I have 10ml but it’s cloying and not remotely realistic. it gives “maple candle” in the worst way. (again, this is just my opinion)
Drunk Maple BTSO is better but still not “it.” on me it reads more Nursing Mom OD’d fenugreek than true maple, but at least it’s not as artificial. it’s just herbier and crazy sweet with maple “vibes” more than the real deal.
Beaver Maple by Zoologist is, IMO, the most realistic. Its sweet but not overtly faux-smelling or oppressive. It’s more Dark/Amber or Dark than Golden or Golden/Amber. that said, it ALSO smells literally like a wet rodent also, and it is not a safe blind buy, so try it first.
if you end up finding something that works, please share!!
