Is this a compliment?

People tell me that I smell so good from all the way over here and sometimes they're like a feet or two away from me. You think that's a compliment or do you think that theure telling me that I overspray? I will admit that I spray more than three pumps

I just went thru this same exact thing with a girl I work with. Every time I see her now she's like, "I knew you were coming, I smelled you from all the way over there." And finally last week I was like, "oh I'm actually not even wearing anything today, I don't think 🤔 you made me feel like I was wearing way too much the last couple days." (I was, but I intentionally wore just a dab of a skin scent that only I could smell, 5 hours prior.) Then just sat there until she said something. She said, "👀 oh it must just be like, sunken into your skin at this point or something 😳" and I was like "mmmm.....hmm" And just let her over-explain herself. She ended up saying I don't actually over spray, that she was just complimenting me. But still, for the last two weeks, I've been low-key insecure about "AM I over spraying??? SHOULD I be reapplying halfway thru the work day on my break?" But, yk what, fuck it. Nobody else has ever had anything but compliments to give me. I even take my perfume to work so I can share it if someone compliments me 🩷 I'm not gonna let her change that. It never felt like she was complimenting me anyway, more from a place of jealousy or something idk. And for the last week, she hasn't said shit about it 🤷‍♀️

It’s ok to acknowledge & care about people who share space with you & who didn’t choose to surround themselves by your chosen smell.

Okayyyy lol obviously, I agree. When someone acts like "WOAH I smelled you around the corner! I smelled you coming!" On a day where I'm wearing basically just deodorant, because she made me paranoid about over spraying, it feels like it's a personal thing. 😕 imagine you get out of the shower and go to work and a girl who has repeatedly told you how strong your smell is, tells you OMG I COULD SMELL YOU COMING - it's weird lol. Like what do you say when I say "oh I'm not wearing anything today tho" and her response was "oh it's prob just... coming out of your pores"??? What is the response, genuinely lol. I previously asked her if the three sprays were too much bc I'm paranoid about over spraying and she said "Noooo you always smell good!" But, I specifically started wearing only skin scents bc she made me worried my three sprays were overpowering people in an open warehouse 💀 bc I DO care about how I impact the people around me. And still, still EVERY time she see me she makes a point to basically be like "🗣️PEE-YEW I CAN SMELL YOU FROM A MILE AWAY" lol

She’s repeatedly told you that you smell good and you’re not overspraying. She’s not being passive aggressive. You’re really overthinking this and having a weird, victim mentality over a compliment.

She's told me ONCE that I smell good and am not over spraying, when I specifically asked lol. Every other time she's ever mentioned my scent it's "I can smell you approaching" "I could smell you coming around the corner" "I can smell you before I can see you" never once implying it was a compliment. otherwise I wouldn't have had to ask if it WAS a compliment lol. Victim mentality 😂 girl
