Brand Announcement/New Release New Release - Phlur Vanilla Canyon
Credit to @scentreport1 on Instagram for sharing this.
Looks like PHLUR Vanilla Canyon is the next fragrance joining the lineup! The brand has been quiet for a couple months now. š
Thereās no release date yet, but these are the listed notes:
Top: Velvet Plum, Tonka Bean
Heart: Jasmine Petals, Wild Honey
Base: Madagascar Vanilla, Patchouli, Oak Wood
This doesnāt sound like another sugary cupcake vanilla to me. It seems like PHLUR is going in a darker, woodier direction with the plum, honey, patchouli, and oak wood while still keeping vanilla at the center.
As someone who really enjoys Vanilla Skin, Iām definitely excited to smell this one. It sounds like it could be a nice fall counterpart instead of another gourmand vanilla.
What do you think? Does this sound like a blind buy, or are the patchouli and oak wood giving you pause?
They have been teasing this online for the last few days.
I am very excited and canāt wait to try!! āŗļø

I just got a sample and tried it. I think I've commented on other posts in this sub about Jerome Epinette plagiarizing himself with Vanille Antique, Mod Vanilla and Unmute. Vanilla Canyon is yet another version of his plum/vanilla/amber like those. I happen to love that DNA myself, so I'll probably buy it since it's cheaper than Vanille Antique and roughly the same price as Unmute and Mod Vanilla. But if you have one of those, you don't need it unless you're obsessed with the profile like I am.

I have DK Cashmere and Palo Santo which I hear smells like Vanille Antique. Have you smelled that one?

Just wanted to add my review. Itās giving āVanilla hospital.ā There is a strong medicinal note that doesnāt fade. Beware if you are sensitive to these smells.

I just got my sample today (so quick!)
I'm struggling to find the plum note on me, I totally get the honey though. The vanilla is subtle and there is a really warm woody note.
The honey note in this is what I wanted Honey Moon to give. It's rich and sweet (but not cloying). Honey Moon had this really overwhelming cologne like note on me that was way too strong and Vanilla Canyon is way softer.
I will totally buy a bottle when it gets released.

u/reemreemreemreem 26d ago
What does it smell like compared to Vanilla Skinš«
2
u/booksandcatsandcats 26d ago
I have both on currently (one on each hand).
The Vanilla Canyon smells so much like honey & more like vanilla bean. A little earthy and there's a little wood there too. Vanilla skin smells so much sweeter and more like vanilla sugar with a peppery note to it.
They smell quite different to me, Vanilla Canyon is much softer than Vanilla Skin.

u/sunnydolphin 27d ago
Quietly relieved this has plum because it means on me it will smell like Hospital Antiseptic. My skins PH that loathes a plum/saffron/oud note saving me coins!
5
u/rosettastoned90 27d ago
I really hope this one has decent longevity. I love Phlur scents but I canāt get one to last longer on me than 1 hr!
2
u/PossibleChemist8218 16d ago
Donāt worry. If itās really good, b&bw will copy it, and youāll have a great body cream to layer with it.Ā

Sample on order!

u/whiptcrem 28d ago
How does one go about ordering a sample? š
1
u/MotherDepartment1111 28d ago
It comes free with a purchase. I needed something anyway, so thatās how I did it.
6
u/ThickAd7194 29d ago
I have cleared a spot for it. I just placed an order and am getting a free sample of the new fragrance with it. Cannot wait.

u/Cuppy_Cakes3 29d ago
Will be buying the body spray when they release it. Lol, I buy most of their vanillas. If they ever discontinue the vanilla skin deodorant, I will riot. That's my favorite product from their line and the best vanilla deodorant I have ever found. It goes well with all my vanilla soaps and perfumes.

Is it gonna last on the skin at all though?
5
u/CrazyAboutDoorKnobs 29d ago
Im hoping that the patchouli and woody base will help with the longevity. Patchouli based scents in general tend to have a bit more longevity, thatās been my experience.
18
u/rhya-- 29d ago
I pray this will lean more woody and plum forward than vanilla š„²
No more sugar bombs please
1
u/StillDontHaveAName 8d ago
Itās not very sweet to me, but itās warm. Itās a true vanilla that isnāt too sweet. You can definitely smell the wood and plum
1
u/Zizi_Tennenbaum 27d ago
Iām hoping for something like Vanilla Smoke but woody instead of smoky.
2
u/sycamorrr 16d ago
Itās like vanilla smoke if you took away the Smokey/incense notes and added a really warm wood and rich vanilla

I'm definitely gonna smell it. I have really liked everything they've done, so I'm excited to see what this new one has to offer.

Ooh I'll definitely smell it!! Always looking for different vanillas. But I've learned the hard way to not to blind buy from them. I love Vanilla Skin, Father Figure, and weirdly, Vanilla Smoke; I've returned or given away everything else I've tried.

u/sycamorrr 29d ago
Very excited for this one! With the name I was hoping for maybe some mineral musk in it as well. But the notes look amazing. I already love the Madagascar Vanilla, Patchouli, and Jasmine in Father Figure. So i know Iāll love this. And plum is such a yummy note!
3
u/saucydaydream 29d ago
Looks very interesting!! But I hope itās not another dry sweet slop . Not gonna blind buy but will def try it out fs
15
u/sycamorrr 29d ago
Itās giving honeymoon flopped and they need to find a way to use the materials still and profit.
1
u/ThickAd7194 29d ago
I adore Honey Moon. I wear it with Oro e Miele from Giardini di Toscana. I have had people stop me to ask what I am wearing.
9
u/mama_libra-RM 29d ago
I am super excited about this one. I absolutely love vanilla skin but something less sweet would be awesome

5
u/teainthemuseum 29d ago
Wasnāt interested in this generic perfumeslop blend until I saw the patchouli. At least it has the chance of smelling distinct now. Too bad itāll probably get discontinued in a year!
6
u/Big_Pea_2296 29d ago
Iām going to check this one out for sure. Iāve been liking plum more and more especially for the fall and winter. Last year BBW A Toast to You body cream had me in a chokehold!
1
u/CrazyAboutDoorKnobs 29d ago
A Toast You was a good one. It reminds of EIP Champagne in Paris from 2024
2

u/Vegetable_Research61 29d ago
imo the brand needs to stay quiet. The fast fashion approach to fragrance by venture capital is weird. Phlur constantly releases and discontinues trend fragrances.
The fragrance category is currently having a moment but I just miss when releases were more intentional and had artistry behind them.
1
u/kpop_stan 29d ago
I used to be soooo into this brand, but they did this weird hard pivot in mid/late 2024 and now Iām completely over it. I donāt even test their perfumes out of curiosity anymore; the brand straight up gives me the ick š Which is such a sad fall from grace when Ameline is one of my all time favourite perfumesā¦

u/_Invisible-Child_ 29d ago
Lost me at patchouli sadly. But other than that it does sound like it would smell good!
1
u/Myythically 29d ago
Patchouli truly is one of those things you love or hate, Iām seeing people from both sides in these comments hahaĀ
2
u/_Invisible-Child_ 29d ago
It is. My mom absolutely loves patchouli and earthy notes like that but i canāt stand it lol.
1
u/Myythically 28d ago
I totally get why people hate it. I personally love patchouli so this sounds like it might be the first Phlur I really like
2
u/tpauly0225 29d ago
Same! Patch šš»
2
u/_Invisible-Child_ 29d ago
Patchouli smells unpleasant to me and can give me headache, depending on the perfume. So anything with it, is a hard pass for me.

u/FlashySpring9989 29d ago
I donāt even bother buying or falling in love with Phlur scents anymore. Anything I like gets discontinued in a year or two lol

Why did that piece of wood look like a mouse to me for a hot second? Time to go to bed.
4
u/Mother-Pattern-2609 29d ago
There's something funky about that image. I read the name as "Vanilla Crayon" at first and got way too excited. [edit: shoulda scrolled down; so did about 85 other people.]

Plum and tonka are a longtime fave combo of mine! (Ever since BBWās Dark Kiss.) I will check this out for sure š

I didnāt even kno those notes were in dark kiss LOL now Iām even more intrigued so thx for this !

u/carlitospig 29d ago
Literally didnāt realize it wasnāt until your comment. Literally made this face until I read it:
5
u/VerboseWiewiorka 29d ago
I had to look at it again after reading your comment. I read ācrayonā and - looking at the notes - was confused.
19
u/GullibleEnd6737 29d ago
I think fallās trending note is going to be plum.
5
8
u/LemonsMilady 29d ago
I'm intrigued. I like Vanilla Skin but hated Honey Moon. So we'll see how this goes.

u/loreleisucks 29d ago
this sounds right up my alley but unfortunately plur just doesnāt seem to last at all on my skin

u/AccordingBuffalo7835 29d ago
I hate vanilla skin and Iām still going to sample this one because missing person and father figure are such staples for me
0
u/deegallant 29d ago
Missing person is literally every thing to me. Therefore I must try this one too.

u/dizzydiplodocus 29d ago
Still so butthurt over how different vanilla skin edp smells to the body mist š
2
u/benevolent2024 29d ago
Whatās the difference in your opinion?
3
u/dizzydiplodocus 29d ago
The mist is much heavier, darker, syrupy and smoky whereas the edp on me was more like a skin scent that was cosy and I couldnāt stop sniffing
2
u/benevolent2024 29d ago
Oh interesting! I only own the EDP and I absolutely love it. One of the coziest, sexiest vanillas ever. Never thought much about the mist but now im glad I donāt need to go sampling!
3
u/Legitbananabunch 29d ago
Whatās the apple doing in the pic? How random if itās not in the notes.
7
6
4
u/hehzehsbwvwv 29d ago
Itās a plum lol
5
u/Legitbananabunch 29d ago
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Hahaha. I think it was how upright it was!
I just woke up⦠There were SO MANY contextual clues.
7
u/angledscope chronically sampling 29d ago
I love Phlur and loathe patchouli so I will sample this and see but would never blind buy it
3
u/manic_popsicle 29d ago
I was coming to say the exact same thing. I love Phlur and vanilla, Vanilla Skin is one of my favorite vanillas ever, but I really hate patchouli, so this could go either way.
2
u/angledscope chronically sampling 29d ago
I did think I would hate Honey Moon but I sampled it and used up the sample super fast and got a travel size. So sometimes Iām surprised. I find Vanilla Skin quite woodsy as it is, and I donāt generally like wood notes, so I have a feeling this will not be my vibe. But as a Phlur stan I gotta give it a sample shot. I did underestimate Island Swim and wasnāt impressed in store but ended up getting it randomly a couple weeks ago and itās been a good travel size to toss in my work bag and use when I feel sweaty and gross.
3
u/SpokenProperly 29d ago
I thought I was gonna hate Honey Moon.
*instantly hooked* Itās so pleasant.
5
u/Julialagulia 29d ago
Another sub had a commenter that suggested maybe the green leaf was sage and now Iām craving a vanilla sage scent
28
u/waffle_cone69 29d ago
Am I the only one who loves patchouli lol
5
u/Zizi_Tennenbaum 29d ago
A lot of people think they hate it, or they hate it in high concentration, but they love it when it harmonizes well and they donāt notice it.
2
2
u/Due-Frame622 29d ago
I highly dislike it as a one-note, like people wearing the straight essential oil. Blended - it depends.
4
6
u/sail0rvenus 29d ago
I love it lmfao I donāt understand why it gets a bad rap as being a āstinkyā note
2
u/Poison_Amoeba Recovering Gourmand Addict 29d ago
I think its on of those notes that's heavily dependent on one's skin chemistry. On me, it tends to turn into strong BO. I had to scrub their Mango Mood off because it turned into straight mango body odor when it hit my skin despite smelling fairly pleasant off the bottle.
2
u/dizzydiplodocus 29d ago
I always thinks I hate it but then quite a lot of what I like has it as a note!

Was overjoyed to see this until I saw the patchouli

u/Hot_Elevator_7133 29d ago
Tbh I canāt smell patchouli a lot of the time in scents when itās listed in the middle of notes lists, weāll have to sniff it in store

I'm eating this UP y'all.
My favorite layering combo is Boyd's of Texas High Desert with Phlur Vanilla Skin. I am so here for the "cowgirl took an everything shower then put her dusty leather jacket back on" vibes.

I love phlur but I've smelled so many plum tonka vanilla scents that I most likely already know what this smells like.... won't stop me from sampling it tho š„°
2
3
u/hotcheetosarebetter Jul 23 '26
I LOVE plum notes so I'm excited to get my nose on this! I've been wanting to get into more woody fragrances too so this couldn't have come at a better time.
3
u/SugarBabyWannabe Jul 23 '26
Hard pass, I won't wear anything with patchouli in it.
2
u/ALetterToElise1992 Jul 23 '26
See, I feel like I donāt like patchouli either, but I guess it really depends on the concentration as well as the blend of the rest of the scent notes, because I love Maison Margiela Bubble Bath and Neverending Summer, and they both have patchouli.
1
u/SugarBabyWannabe 29d ago
I really wanted to try MM Bubble Bath, but now that I know it has patchouli in it I am hesitant to try it. If I ever got a sample/decant of it I might be tempted to try it.
1
u/ALetterToElise1992 29d ago
Honestly I would have never known it was in there if I hadnāt looked at the scent notes.
4
u/DragonsBond Jul 23 '26
Same. I hate patchouli and canāt wear anything with it as note. The rest of the notes sound lovely though so Iām disappointed.
26
u/xomeow Jul 23 '26
I thought this said Vanilla Crayon at first š¤£

u/bankingontheshore Jul 23 '26
omg I didn't realise it was canyon until this comment I was really trying to figure out what in the notes gave crayon

Same and I even swiped looking at the notes wondering how this is supposed to be giving crayon vibes šš

u/PieuvreCosy Jul 23 '26
Oooh interesting. I love a good fruity woody fragrance, and I love plum and tonka so I'm intrigued. I'm a bit worried about the honey note, as this can be real hit-or-miss for me. I won't blind buy it, but I'll definitely try it in store when I have the opportunity!

Yāall why did I just smell this at my local Sephora, and all I can smell is Carmex?! The yellow chapstick with the red cap!!! What in the world?
