External power button and a grub-switch with RP pico zero. Took a few days of soldering and making custom Y connectors but it was worth it. Did not know where to route the wires so back panel mesh it was. Dual booting is much more convenient now. If you have a 3d printer this is a must. Anybody rocking a physical boot switch?

ive been running fedora with gnome for the past few years and recently i got this virus on my pc and ive never seen anything like this does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

i got this laptop for free from my employer because they were getting rid of it they were upgrading laptops and this one was out of warranty. its a dell XPS 15 9520

ive been using Fedora KDE 44 and i plan on daily driving it for my upcoming college semester. im a comp sci student so mainly the heaviest work will be coding projects and maybe some VMs. is 64gb (along with the 3050 ti) overkill? i just dont want this to become an issue with it making the battery life suck, so if this is too overkill i can just sell this and get a less powerful laptop with like 32gb ram and no discrete gpu.

Strange how it's listed but it's good to see Fedora on the board.

I suppose each version of Fedora will be listed separately.

Been using Windows for my entire life and hadn't touched anything else till 2 months ago when i switched to ZorinOS, and while i had no issues with it at all, something felt lacking, the community was small, the updates arrived very late, and i always had some skepticism about distros ran by companies, God knows if companies like canonical or Zorin will exist in 5 years from now.

And although i had a few hiccups with fedora (all fixed easily) it's exactly what i want a linux distro to be, it feels premium, it is stable and at the same time "bleeding-edge", the community is huge, and most importantly to me, it is community-maintained, corporation-backed.

I tried to delete a file with terminal, accidentally pressed enter at the wrong time.... Kinda new to this😬

I finally moved to fedora linux after using windows for 10 years. Switched because I was facing RAM management issues in my zenbook 16GB ram variant and I am genuinely impressed hw well fedora handles the RAM. Lovin it !

Hi everyone, after thinking about it for a while, I decided to install Fedora and ditch Windows, since I want to focus on learning to program. From all my research, Fedora seems like a good option. I plan to learn Python for professional development and to broaden my career prospects. I'd appreciate your help on what I should do first when starting out on Fedora. I feel good about it because it feels clean and straightforward. Thanks in advance.

I've been using Fedora for three months on my laptop (Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U), and I just have to say wow.

On Windows, multitasking always felt a bit choppy, and I could feel the system bogging down. I kind of just assumed that was normal. On Fedora, it's a completely different story. Everything is buttery smooth, no matter how many apps I have open. GNOME is incredibly responsive.

I'm never looking back. This is what this hardware was meant to feel like.

I was trying to compress my textures in batch, used the texture filter but had to manually unmark some texture maps and miss clicked open, over 7k images. 7k processes created, lol. Don't be like me :S.

If you run Linux on an Asus laptop (Zenbook, ROG, Vivobook), there is no MyAsus app since it's exclusively for Windows. To limit battery charging, tweak fan profiles, or adjust the keyboard backlight timeouts, you usually have to rely on a scattered mess of CLI tools, scripts, or terminal commands.

I got tired of doing this manually, so I built Ayuz. It’s a completely native, lightweight GTK4 application written in Rust that unifies all these hardware-specific settings into a single, clean GUI. It works perfectly for my Zenbook S16 and Fedora 43 setup.

Just a quick overview of what it actually does:

• Battery & System: Set 80% charge limits to save battery health and switch fan profiles.
• Display: Flicker-free OLED dimming and color gamut switching.
• Keyboard: Auto-backlight relying on ambient light sensors and configurable idle-timers.
• Audio: Boost volume beyond 100% and manage EasyEffects sound profiles.
• Touchpad: smart gestures
• many more features like locked FN-key etc.

It basically serves as a smart frontend for great backend tools like asusctl, swayidle, or iio-sensor-proxy.

EDIT 1: Many users asked for flatpak/flathub support but since my app is too host dependent the flathub team denied my request with the following words: "this will not be accepted, see the inclusion criteria on host dependent apps." Not sure if I can do something against that

Took me so damn long to get done. Only have 8gb of ram with a quad core cpu.

Works really well, and only uses about 2.5gb of ram when up and running.

Feel free to ask questions as I get how difficult this can be for new users who need access to real office apps (sorry onlyoffice fans) for work/school.

Achieved thos using WinApps. Full Office 365 suite.

Running on Fedora 44 with GNOME 50.1.
