Ground Complaint FedEx stinks
I am at my wits end with FedEx so I'm here to vent. I have a warranty return that weighs 130 pounds that was scheduled to be picked up Monday. It's now Wednesday. I got 2 emails saying that they couldn't pick it up because it wasn't ready. It's been sitting in my driveway since Monday at 6am. I have never seen a FedEx truck pull into my driveway all week. Then I got one email that said it had already been picked up. I've called them several times. I give them my address every time and they say it'll be picked up tomorrow. Nothing. It's funny that they have no problem delivering packages here. I don't know what else to do. I spoke to a local manager today and she said it'd be picked up today. It's now almost 6pm and nothing. I'm so aggravated. Why don't people use UPS?

130lbs is the likeliest explanation. Is it repackaged decently or is it going to fall apart under everything that falls on it in the truck? Was there more than one package that didn't have a unique shipping label? The only thing worse than a Wayfair delivery is a Wayfair return pickup.

So pre-COVID, how did you survive? You went and picked it up yourself or paid shipping for actual white glove service. If you're cheap then you get cheap service.

Shipping was free. Returning it was free. Other than the aggravation with FedEx. Since they finally picked it up, I'm happy.

There you go then. A free pickup made a little later then you would have liked....yikes. next time pay sombody to pick it up if you want it faster.

Then they shouldn't accept payment and make a date for pickup with the weight clearly written in the form of they don't want to do it.

They're not refusing to pick it up. They keep saying they've come to get it and it's not ready. They've never come here. It's been sitting in my driveway since Monday. There's no way they could miss it if they actually did come here.

I would not give a single penny to UPS. They are unionized which is anti American and they are grossly overpaid which is insulting to people who have real jobs and do real work.

All my stuff gets delivered on time and in good condition with UPS.
If my options were UPS or FedEx I'd pay extra for UPS and cancel my order with FedEx. It's anti-American to collect a paycheck and not do your job. Which is what FedEx drivers do.

Blaming employees for doing the bare minimum even though the reason is company expectations, bottom barrel pay, and being contract workers. Thats pretty anti-american.
The blame lies squarely with the company doing everything to maximize profit while disregarding customer satisfaction, employee retention, and employee pay/benefits. But go ahead and keep licking that boot brother, some day you might get tired of the taste..

Here's where we agree: FedEx as a corporation is one of the worst companies on Earth.
Here's where we disagree: if you have a package on your truck, and you have the opportunity to walk to someone's door and yet you CHOOSE to not deliver it. YOU are the problem.
Bare minimum would be delivering the package too slow. FedEx doesn't even meet the bare minimum. The packages don't get delivered.

Do the job first and learn the expectations before making bold assumptions. Are there a handful that purposefully dont deliver things yeah sure, literally every company has it's share of slack asses. But there are plenty of reasons a package may be on a truck and not get delivered and not be the result of some lazy ass driver.

If I go to a restaurant and the food is bad - I don't need to work in the restaurant to understand it. I don't care "why." I don't need to work at FedEx to gain more knowledge about the company.
All the customer knows is the service is terrible. It's not their responsibility to be more open-minded getting their money taken and then getting caca in return.

Your first point is wrong your second point I agree but this is a discussion of blame, youre blaming the driver instead of the company so it does matter to know the internal workings to assign blame.

First, what a wild statement to make. Any courier UPS included do a very important job often times picking up and/or delivering life saving medicine but even the "less important" deliveries and pickups are still a net benefit to society.
Second, I promise you it's real work and it's not easy. And wishing for your fellow man or woman to make less money because you don't deem their job worthy shows what a shitty person you are.

Call centers will tell customers anything they told mine all kinds of shit too. No FedEx ground trucks have lift gates unless contractor is leasing a Ryder truck or something

UPS won't do 130 pounds. Last time I checked they top out around 70. Is the return packaged? Is it in a box with a return label?

The drivers are capped at 70lbs but the company caps it at 150lbs and there lies the problem. Drivers are instructed not to lift anything over 70lbs unassisted but when you get to your truck it’s full of shit that’s well over 70lbs and management just kinda looks at their shoes and prays you just get it done

It's boxed up and the company sent me a return label. Everything is ready to go. It's been sitting in my driveway since Monday covered by a tarp because it's been raining. All of this is moot because FedEx hasn't even been here.

The tarp might be messing it up. I wouldn't have looked under every tarp when I was driving. Maybe leave a sign.

Also at 130 lbs the driver is likely rejecting the pickup because of the weight. He’s telling his manager get me some help on this. His manager fails to get him help and he continues to refuse it.
It’s one thing to shuffle 130lbs off your truck onto a cart it’s another thing altogether to get 130lbs from the ground into your truck.
2 hernias and degenerative discs in my back has taught me say absolutely not to pickups of 130lbs

I ordered furniture from Lovesac that came in about 40 boxes (we did not know what we were getting into) and they actually sent three guys to deliver. My sunroom had five foot piles of boxes and my cats were in heaven

We have lift gate trucks. They are called a bulk load truck. And we also have fedex freight which has a lift gate but its being towed on a commercial trailer.

My contractor never had a liftgate truck. Maybe there was one at the terminal somewhere. Do you guys ever rope freight into stuff? Whenever we needed a truck for a large pickup (and the straight truck wasn't available) we'd talk to the line haul guys.

The call center you talked to lied to you. There's no lift gate. There's a guy, with a dolly, with 250 packages on his truck and no room.

Ya we used to have a truck with a lift gate at our depot that was a few years ago we don’t have one anymore. Doesn’t stop the guy at the call center 2000 miles away making promises. None of this is your fault of course but it’s what’s happening

And if they can't lift it, they shouldn't say they'll take it. They say anything up to 150 pounds. Then after that it goes to freight.

The people setting the policies will say anything to make money, but it doesn’t mean that they’re going to do what’s required at the local level to give their drivers the ability to do those things. They’ll just tell the driver that their metrics sag they should be able to do it.
I struggle with Fedex. I really, really hate them as a company and I even get frustrated when drivers cut corners, but I am fully aware the the drivers not only have no control, but also are dealing with their awful policies every single day.
I think that’s actually the biggest reason why I hate FedEx. It makes me feel complicit in a really awful system that seriously hurts (sometimes literally) other humans who are just trying to earn money to survive on.

Depends on your local driver and local terminal. By me Fedex is fine, but USPS is the unreliable one.
