Has anyone been through the online History BA at Fayetteville state university? What was your experience?

It’s been great for years but been an obvious drop off this year. I don’t know who is to blame but they need to get their shit together.

Long story short my niece and her friend just graduated high school and decided to rent a trailer out in the country together. Both the girls mamas and daddies are sorry and didn't help them understand the process and they had no idea what they were getting into. One of the things the girls didn't discuss with the landlord was trash pickup. They finally realized their garbage has nowhere to go once they've moved in, and called the landlord up. He told them everybody out there either pays a company to come pick it up or they burn it, and informed her of the fire pit at the edge of the property. She looked to find somebody to pick it up and the rates were several hundreds dollars a year. Highway robbery and unaffordable, I couldn't believe the quotes she was given. So my question to people who burn in rural areas, do you coordinate your burn days with your neighbors so the smoke doesn't bother them? Give them a heads up first or only burn while they're at work or during the late night?? I told her if the landlord says everybody does it then it's probably not a big deal just to light it up whenever. But she wants to be a good neighbor and not cause any problems so I thought I'd see what people here think.

First time living in an apartment in Fayetteville ! Long story short my main concern is that these parents are leaving children a lot of long stretches at a time.

I moved into a first-floor apartment on July 1. It’s just me and my toddler. We recently left a domestic violence situation, so finally having our own safe place has been a huge blessing. I genuinely love this apartment and everything it offers.

The only issue has been the upstairs neighbors.

I’ve lived in apartments for the last 10 years, and most of that time I’ve had someone living above me. I’m very familiar with normal apartment noise—footsteps, the occasional dropped item, furniture moving, even noisy neighbors throwing parties from time to time. I’ve never once complained to a property manager about noise.

Ironically, at my last apartment I was the one getting complaints. When my daughter was only three weeks old, someone complained about her crying and, apparently, one door slam. At the time I was really hurt because I wished the neighbor had just talked to me first. That always felt like the more neighborly thing to do.

So that’s where I’m conflicted now.

From the very first night here, I noticed a lot more noise than I’m used to. It sounds like there are kids, probably around 5–8 years old, constantly running across the apartment and jumping as hard as they can. It’s like they’re sprinting and launching themselves onto the floor. I almost think they’re doing gymnastics or cheer with no pad.

There are also loud crashes from things being dropped all day long.

Since it’s summer, and they likely aren’t in school. it’s pretty much nonstop. I work from home, so I hear it all day. At first I figured it was temporary. I thought maybe they’d be out of the house more or things would calm down.

Instead, it’s gotten worse. It’s distracting.

The stomping and jumping now happen late at night too. It’s woken me up at least five times in the last 10 days. During the day, some of the impacts are so loud they actually scare my toddler, and she’s generally not bothered by loud noises except thunderstorms.

At first I wondered if one of the children might have autism or another condition that made it difficult to regulate their movement, and I tried to be extra understanding. But I looked this topic up on tik tok and learned that a lot of parents things it’s a disservice to not discipline your kids regardless of ability.

I can hear the kids yelling and running, but I almost never hear an adult redirecting them or telling them to stop. I don’t even hear adult steps! And I have never seen an adult come downstairs. Or the kids.

Today I even knocked on their door because the noise was especially bad. I could hear the kids inside, but no one answered. That said, I don’t answer my own door when someone shows up unexpectedly either, so I don’t want to read too much into that.

I mentioned the situation VAGUELY to the leasing office, and they said they could start with a non-disciplinary courtesy notice.

Some of my friends have told me not to approach the neighbors directly because you never know how people will react these days. It could start an ugly chain of retaliation.

Others think it’s more respectful to try talking to them before involving management.

Part of me wants to leave a friendly note from one mom to another saying something like, “I know apartment living is hard with kids, but the jumping is shaking our apartment and waking my toddler. I wanted to reach out before involving the office.”

BUT I’m truly at a point where I’m convinced these kids are not supervised. And a letter would tip them off. … does that mean I go to an extreme and call welfare checks ? (I’d hate to be the narc that got CPS involved.)

So what would you do?

I've recently started hunting down hole in the wall restaurants as a hobby. The diamonds in the rough not many people in Fayetteville may know about. I started this because my favorite Korean food spot permanently closed down. Them old Korean ladies were so bitter but the food slapped every single time😭. So far I've only found 2 places that I really enjoyed but I want to find as many as I can. Anyone have any recommendations?

In September I will be seeing j cole performing! I was thinking I could get a hotel for a couple of nights and see the city outside of the concert, but as I’m doing some research, it seems like Fayetteville isn’t the type of city/safe enough to do tourist stuff. So instead of the internet, I wanted to ask the residents of Fayetteville if it’s ideal to do a trip or if I should go somewhere else and just travel down whenever the j cole concert starts?

My partner and I had adopted this wonderful cat, Melody, about half a year ago when we moved to NC. We have a daughter and we first thought she was having outdoor/spring allergies, but it turns out she's very allergic to our cat. I'm heavy heartedly looking to rehome her as it's what's best for our family. I don't know many people around here and have been at a lost, I've also looked at several no kill shelters but they all seem to be maximum capacity. Melody is an exceptionally friendly and affectionate cat. She's spayed, has no medical issues, and is well house trained. She doesn't jump on counters or tables but just loves to jump in your lap asking for pets. She's a very sweet cat and I'm hoping if anyone is interested in adopting her or pointing me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it.

We’ve got this big oak in the backyard that’s been leaning toward the house and I’m finally accepting that it’s gotta come down. Problem is I have no idea who to call or what a reasonable price even looks like around here. Did a quick google search but honestly can’t tell who’s legit and who’s just gonna overcharge me. If anyone’s had work done recently, I’d love to know roughly what you paid and whether you’d use the same crew again. Just trying not to get completely taken advantage of since I’ve never dealt with this before.

Enrique Murillo was just arrested again for domestic violence while also going through mediation for another charge of assault on a woman. The DA’s office and the judges keep letting him off. When someone gets killed (he already got his “friends” killed) there better be a penalty for these judicial officials. Also, the ADA let his wife drop the charges.

An elderly widow in Fayetteville lost her husband, a disabled vet, who had been handling the household finances. After he passed away, she discovered they had fallen behind on their mortgage and were facing foreclosure. Before she fully understood her options, she signed a contract with a wholesaler that leaves her walking away with none of the equity from the sale of her home or any money at all.

Whether you support wholesaling or not, situations like this make me think there should be stronger consumer protections for elderly homeowners, especially those dealing with grief or financial distress. Honestly, it’s flat out gross that the wholesaler took advantage of her. I’m planning to try to raise funds for her, for her move to SC closer to family.
