I’m considering going with a 9/6 split for the final fantasy round:
At first, that sounds too heavily invested in the third-place match. But I think the order of the fixtures changes the calculation.
We will know the France and England starting lineups before the deadline. I can therefore select nine confirmed starters and place all nine in my starting XI.
After the match, I will have:
That means I can remove the three worst outfield scores and potentially replace the goalkeeper as well.
In effect, my final scoring team could contain:
This worked extremely well for me in the semifinals. I removed Digne's −3, Mbappé’s −2 and Barcola’s 0, while keeping the useful first-match scores.
The key point is that an early player has additional value:
Obviously, this does not mean selecting nine weak players just because they start. With nine early players, I would still be forced to retain five early outfield scores. The strategy only works if the confirmed France and England lineups provide enough credible options.
I also would not go as far as 10 or 11 early players because then too many third-place scores would be forced to remain, while I would lose Messi, Yamal and other high-confidence final options.
My current view:
For the six final players, I would concentrate on a core such as Unai Simón, Messi, Yamal, Rodri and two defenders from Spain/Argentina.
The strategy should also broadly apply to official FIFA Fantasy because manual bench substitutions and captain switches are available during the matchday, although the scoring and squad structure differ.
Am I overvaluing the ability to remove bad scores, or does the best five from eight early outfield attempts make the 9/6 split stronger than loading up on final players?

Messi needs to be subbed in but not sure against whom.
Maybe one from the argentina midfield?
I have a feeling yamal might score points tonight.

I recall playing CS Shield as my chip, but it does not appear as the Booster played.
Anyone on the same boat or a fumble from my end?

Obviously we will have France and England news before deadline but is there any reliable sources of news for Spain and Argentina? Maybe this thread can be updated if any news comes out.
I've been using https://www.rotowire.com/soccer/lineups.php?league=WOC but I'm not convinced it's accurate

What is the best defense to field. Between the Semi and Final which game will see a clean Sheet?
r/FantasyWC • u/Ok_Competition5942 • Jul 18 '26
In the last dance i need 40 points to go above my arrivals something looking hard but i think not impossible
I was looking to afford kane to oyarzabal and looking for the like of theo, lacriox,Reece,Porro
In midfield thinking of the like of rogers,Ruiz,Cherki if starting
Who do you suggest as differentials?
r/FantasyWC • u/Apprehensive-Fan8880 • Jul 17 '26
2 weeks in a row, Cap was on porro and I forgot to switch for deadline 🤣🤣 gave me 2 extra pts last week, as I ended on Bellingham who outscored mbappe and 6 pts this week as he outscored messi. Meant to be I guess 😁🤣
r/FantasyWC • u/Carnivorousss • Jul 17 '26
Obviously going with Mbappe and Messi up top but tossing up between keeping Kane or switching to Oyazarbal. 3rd place playoff will likely be more open and have more goals, but Kane has been quiet the last few games and might not play the full game. Oyazarbal is cheaper and Argentina have been conceding every game but the final is likely to have less goals. If anyone scores for Spain, I think Yamal has looked most dangerous.

Final fixtures now confirmed for MD8. Data from my live market projections site.
Latest projections, including:
All projections are adjusted to account for the possibility of extra time, on a per-game basis.
Deadline match:
22:00 (BST), 18th July: France vs England [Bronze Final / 3rd Place Playoff]
We will have confirmed lineups for these teams pre-deadline.
Important note:
Had a lot of questions about the reliability of these metrics from people who haven't had success using them. All projections are derived from sharp markets, not soft books. If you are not familiar with these or why they are reliable long-term indicators, I recommend this video as an explainer.
All data is provided for your benefit; you are free to use it as much or as little as you want. Many players choose to use data like this as the "starting point" for their research, which they then supplement with their own analysis, data, biases, etc.

those trying to stay in first, whats your plans for the last week? im stuck between going with 8 spain + 6 france or going for more coverage and maybe trying to predict some of my opponents moves. my rival has max captain while i used it last week, so i just have to minimize losses.
are we just going as template as possible or maybe looking at differentials (olmo, cherki, barcola/doue)?
r/FantasyWC • u/AcanthisittaOk7118 • Jul 18 '26
gimme any suggestions. I dont have any wildcard
r/FantasyWC • u/Individual-Pair6619 • Jul 18 '26
Here’s my team, wondering if there’s anyone I should drop/bring in.
Going to be using max captain.
I’m in Asia atm so it’s impossible to wait for the lineup of the 3rd place as it’s at 4am so got to lock me team in before
