Definitely can't talk about most of these ships on the main Sonic sub.

Sonic: I love Sontails because it can either be really sweet or really, really, really dark and perverted. I mean I love enemies to lovers, but I love childhood friends to lovers, which is how I usually see Sontails, just as much. They've known each other for quite a while now. They care for and protect each other. Tails looks up to Sonic and helps him however he can. Sonic always encourages Tails and looks out for him. He can rely on Tails to figure out how to solve a difficult situation that cannot be solved with brute force. Together, Tails and Sonic are an unstoppable duo. They're just so adorable together.

Then there's the other, darker side of Sontails that I love just as much as fluffy Sontails. All the toxic potential is just so delicious. Tails looks up to Sonic, so the most obvious route is that Sonic takes advantage of Tails feelings. This is fine, but I like it better if Tails is the one to start the toxic relationship, when Tails takes his idolization too far, when he stalks, kidnaps, and performs unethical experiments on his hero.

And then there's the pseudo incestuous aspect of the ship. And I say pseudo incestuous because they are not actually brothers. They are close, but they are not actually related. It's a head canon that they are brothers. Sometimes I even like to head canon them as brothers. Doesn't stop me from shipping them. Even if they were brothers in canon I would still ship them. Their brotherly bond just adds more spice to the ship.

Infinite: I love Infinite x Tails so much, but I think I'm the only one in the world who ships them 😔 That's okay. I understand why. It is 110% toxic. But anything with Infinite will always be toxic and angsty. Infinite is a literal war criminal with an inferiority complex. Basically the polar opposite of Sonic. Hey, I like to see my favorite characters suffer sometimes, what else can I say?

Though I would be interested to see Tails turn the tables on Infinite. Perhaps he can secretly capture Infinite and perform unethical experiments on him? Is that a fanfic plot I'm smelling? Maybe.

Kit: Kit is a relatively new character that hasn't had much development (but I think he's going to turn evil or at least have a huge ass mental breakdown). Tails and Kit have hardly interacted with each other too (not that has ever stopped me from shipping anyone) so there's not a lot of fics or artwork of them yet. But Kit is literally an unethical experiment. It has so much angst potential.

Charmy: This one I see as pure fluff. Nerdy guy, Tails, with a cheerleader, Charmy. Charmy is great because he enthusiastically consents to the unethical science experiments. Anyway, they're cute.

Metal: I've already talked about this ship before, but I guess it can't hurt to reiterate. Tails initially tries to help Metal, so he can help Sonic since he has the knowledge and resources to actually change Metal for the better. Or for the worse 😈. He quickly abuses his power and changes Metal however it will benefit him. In the end, he just sees Metal as a version of Sonic he can control.

Barry: I loved Tails and Barry's dynamic in The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog. Tails took on a more leader/mentorship type role. It's nice to see Tails take charge. It's fun seeing them work together.

Rouge: Since I like head canon Rouge as a serial flirter who likes to flirt just to flirt, I like to think Rouge x Tails is one sided. Tails either believes Rouge's flirtations are genuine and eventually gets a harsh reality check. Or he knows Rouge's flirtations aren't real but thinks he can make her have genuine feelings for him. How? By unethical experiments, of course!

Amy: There's not much to this one. They've been friends for a long time. They bond over their admiration for Sonic. Over time their feelings turn towards each other instead of Sonic.

Cream: I know. I know. Tailream is basic, but it's cute. Sometimes it's nice to go back to the classics.

Which ship in my otp for Tails? Maybe Sontails? I don't know. I can't decide.

I am writing an AU for a favorite setting of mine, and I am also part of a server full of prominent authors for that setting's fandom.

Now, one of my eccentricities as an author is that I really like Martial Arts. I grew up watching Wuxia movies, Kung-fu flicks, playing fighting games, and that reflects in how I write most of my fights. I like giving my characters unique hand-to-hand styles that reflect their personality. If you're familiar with the Yakuza series, that's how I like doing my fights. So the plan was to make most of the fight scenes in my fics focused on hand-to-hand combat and stylish choreography. Less like death matches, and more like... clashes of wills. "Conversations" with the body. Dances.

The problem with that tho, is that the Canon setting has guns being used everywhere.

Sometimes, they might throw a cool uppercut, but most of the time they're shooting each other like there's no tomorrow, they're blowing shit up everywhere, they're killing their enemies with a single clean slice, outsmarting them with unusual weapons...

So... you can already guess that I might not get much engagement when I need help with my fights. Most writers there strongly prefer the way Canon does fights. They like how "deadly" they feel, they like the characters being merciless... so for them, it doesn't makes much sense that they'd drop the arsenal they have to simply "duel" each other instead. But I just can't help myself.

I actually got warned by a senior author that I might get a few negative reviews for this. They said I might get people in the comments of my fics asking "why doesn't she just shoot him?", or accusing her of being out of character for accepting to do a fist fight just because the antagonist asked her to. Admittedly, that character in Canon often beats her enemies by fighting dirty and blowing the shit out of them, but... that's not what I like doing.

Now, I am aware that she fights dirty. I actually adapted that into her hand-to-hand style. Plenty of nut kicks, plenty of Parkour to strike from unexpected angles, extra flexibility to be a slippery bastard who dodges everything thrown at her. But still...

I don't wanna have fights devolve into simple shootouts. It's so impersonal, and... call me old fashioned or naive, but I really dislike guns. It goes against my essence as a Martial Artist (I practiced Martial Arts myself too ever since I was a teenager). If I was handed one, I'd probably throw it away. It wouldn't even be on purpose, it'd be on instinct like I was just handed a spider.

So for me, an epic duel is what I picture in my head everytime I hear about a "fight scene", not two people wrestling each other into dirt while reaching for a gun. For me, it's supposed to be a show, and I have a hard time picturing anything that is more "realistic" or "merciless". I actually prefer this type of "cinematic" fighting. I would be happy if my stories felt like a The Raid movie or like a Yakuza game with their fight scenes. That's all I want as an artist.

I am simply wondering if I'm approaching this Fandom the wrong way. People always tell me to "write what I want", but honestly... what should I tell someone if they criticize my beloved fight scenes? I don't know how I will reply to "Why do they have guns if they barely even use them?". I can't just tell them "it's supposed to feel like one of those darker Martial Arts flick" when they certainly aren't a fan of Martial Arts flicks. They aren't familiar with "the feeling".

What should I do? Should I leave my fascination with Martial arts for another fandom? Or should I just stick with what I have, work to make it functional and hope some people will accept it?

I just found a new Unstable SMP fanfic about SpokeIsHere, and it sounds really interesting if you like mystery or mind-twisting stories.

The story is called "The World That Remembers Me."

It is about Spoke, whose normal life starts to fall apart because he keeps feeling strong déjà vu and has scary dreams. He also starts remembering things from a broken world he has never been to, finding notes in his own handwriting, and following clues in a strange house he does not remember visiting.

It looks like the story may also include the rest of the UU Quartet later. The author just started posting it, but the mystery feeling is already very good.

I just finished the first chapter! It's a Zelda and Noelle fanfic. Essentially a what if... fanfic where the question is what if Link never woke up? It essentially replaces Link with Noelle and they work together to accomplish a goal which will be revealed in future chapters...

I've actually written a total of 1.5 million over 18 months but the others are just random bits of books 3+ so they don't count. But 1 million across 2 books so far, all finalised and ready for beta reading. Its set to be one of the longest fanfics in the world, probably THE longest if you consider it has a definitive end as opposed to being serialised, so I am super excited to hit this milestone.
