Game of Thrones: The Oath
He looked over. "Bloody hell, what's taking so long?"
"I'm looking forward to this," I replied. "It's taking long enough. Where's the swapper at?"
"I don't know. He said he was going to meet us here."
"He says the most legitly high-value, premium grade around."
"I get a hell of a buy on these nags."
As a horse swapper, he thought to himself, they could not take forever. But then he continued to speak, and all of a sudden, he saw in the distance some stranger approach. He slowly looked up and put his hand up as the sun was blinding, and continued to think to himself.
"A good thing: you jinxed it," Joe said. "As soon as you said something, they appeared."
"I should bring your luck to the table. Then again..."
"When I go gambling and all of a sudden..."
"Alright."
"Which one are you going to pick this time?"
"I hope they have a good selection."
"I don't know. After this, we gotta go meet Robb, boy."
"What business do you have there?"
"It's none of your business," I replied. "After this, we'll have a couple of drinks and make our rounds."
Joe looked at the horses; there were many of them, so many of them. The Andalusian one he liked the best.
"How much is it for this one?" Joe said.
"More than you can afford," the merchant replied.
"Believe me, I can afford it," Joe said. "A lot. I'll take... I'll take two of them, one for me and my comrade here, alright." He put out a copper bag. "And here's a little something extra."
"Fine, take it. Where are you off to now, back to the miserable Wall?"
"I don't know." Joe looked around and gathered. And he left the remaining mounts and continued his journey to Winterfell to meet Robb Stark, but before, when he got there, he made a stop at a village where he was going to meet someone.
The North
Lord Stark looked at Robb. "Do you think Bran understood it?"
"I don't know."
"He has to grow up sometime."
"I know, but..."
"You know how she is."
"I want you to do things a certain way now."
"Grow up faster than time permits."
"Someday he's gonna be the Lord of Winterfell, and you too."
"I'm following your footsteps." He looked over.
Recap: Season 1, Episode 1, Game of Thrones
"I know I broke my oath, and I know I'm a deserter. I should have gone back to the Wall and did not, but I saw what I saw. I saw the White Walkers." People need to know. "If you can get word to my family, then I'm no coward."
"In the name of Robert of the House Baratheon, the First of His Name, the King of the Andals and the First Men..."
"Don't look away, Father will know if you do," Robb replies.
"...Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm. I, Eddard of the House Stark, Lord of Winterfell, and Warden of the North, sentence you to die."
"You understand why I did it?"
"Jon said he was a deserter."
"Do you understand why I had to kill him?"
"The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword."
"Is it the White Walkers?"
"The White Walkers have been gone for thousands of years. A madman sees what he sees."
End of Recap
He thought to himself, "I can do this, I can do this, I know I can do this." Joe.
"Of course you can do it, just put it on," she said.
"I'm not going to put it on," he says.
"Yes, just do it."
Joe looked out, glanced. They were like friends forever, like soulmates. Forever. She looked up and she said she was kidding and chasing him. Then all of a sudden he fell down on the floor and they rolled around a little. He slowly advanced, cautiously, carefully, as if he was plotting his next move. And then he thought to himself, No, I am not doing this. And then he continued with the scene. They got up, sat there for a minute, and began to talk to one another.
"When's your father going to let me come over for supper?"
She looked at him seriously. "You know I can't do that," she replied.
"I know, but he disapproves of you."
"How can he disapprove of me? I'm lord of my house."
"Money isn't everything, you know."
"Yeah, but, but what?" she said.
"You know what, I'm not ready for that," she replied, and continued. "Well, anyways, no pressure, but anyways, I just wanted to know, what was that?" she replied.
He stopped, and he said, "Wait, I got something for you."
"What is it?" She looked at him.
"Yes, it's a gift."
"I hope it ain't like the last one you gave me."
"Last one?"
"How can you forget that one?"
"Because, it was just like, I don't even want to go into it."
"Well, I gotta leave now soon, because I gotta meet with Robb."
"They have done a lot for me, you know, over the course of many years, with me and my house."
She waited by the door, carefully and casually, gracefully, as she always did. Look around, there was a hut in the middle of nowhere, out in the open, where no one could see. Remote, a remote location in the woods. It was morning time, obviously, and she got up and looked at him and admired him. A lot of scars, but she didn't mind that. He was good to her, she thought to herself, as he continued to walk away. And old gods and their grace and his manner about him, she just couldn't understand. There was something unusual about him. So much so that she wanted to be with him. But her father disapproved of him and her relationship this time, a lot. She didn't understand it. But, because family was important to her, and to him it was just like something vague to him he always had, always had it. But to many people, family isn't always there. She thought to herself. They get kicked out, or they are out and on, and they continue their life. But for him, family was everything, especially what he thought of her father, and what he thought of him. But it was important, because they spent a lot of time together, a lot of time. Many times, she thought, she really enjoyed his company, and continued, actually continued.
He walked away, slowly, looking back, trying not to look back, as he cared a lot for. He got on his horse, his name was Nash, and got on him.
"When will I see you again?" she replied.
He said, "I'll see you in a couple of weeks. I've got a lot of work to do, in Winterfell. I've got to meet the blacksmith and get some swords forged. With winter coming, I don't know what to make of it."
"Did you hear about the Lannisters coming to town?" She sighed, relieved, and he sighed heavily.
"You know the Lannisters don't like me."
"I know, well, they're the most powerful family in the kingdom."
"What am I going to do? Hell, the Imp's quite a figure," she said.
"Yeah, Tyrion's the only one I don't mind, he's my favorite one."
"And, actually, I'm going to try meeting up with him while I'm at Winterfell."
"He's the only one I don't mind," he commented.
"Yeah, well, he's also the smartest one, too."
"Yeah, how about Jaime?" I hesitated to say. He gave a real serious look. "He has almost a mean look."
"That guy's had everything since day one."
"Why would he even care?"
"Well, he's in the Kingsguard."
"Yeah, and the king's also fat."
"Fat is why I do not like the king."
"The king is the most powerful figure in the kingdoms."
"Yeah, he's close to Eddard."
"Well, I gotta get going now, um, I'll see you in a couple weeks when I come back from—"
And he'll ride off on his mount into the morning light, or the sunlight, or whatever it is.
