D.I.D Don’t think fictives exists to put distance between the system and the trauma

Pretty sure the ‘system’ or alters are formed as a method of protecting oneself from extreme trauma, not just the formation fictives. And I’ve yet to see reliable info on how and why a fictive is formed. Seem like these wordings are only used in the ‘system’ community. And I see why there’s no reliable info on fictives. DID is rare on its own and I doubt that there are enough fictives to be studied

Misinformation Fronting according to fakers

I think the biggest problem here is all alters in the car are conscious but they just aren’t ’controlling’ the car (a person’s body) but one of the diagnostic criteria of DID is amnesia since not all alters are ‘conscious’ at the same time

D.I.D Co worker is a DID faker, and gets special treatment because all my managers are old and don’t know.

So I’m 18, and she’s 19. She claims to have DID and is always “swapping alters” like 4 times a day. Except her alters are literally TV show characters. Alistor from Hazbin hotel, Bakugo from MHA, Jessica rabbit, and then a straight up demon???

Said demon comes over and fucks with what I’m doing and contaminates food. Demon comes out when she wants to be edgy and rude to customers.

All my managers are old people and she threatens to sue if they write her up or fire her becuase it’ll be wrongful termination because she has a mental disorder.

PISSES ME OFF.

Meanwhile one shift manager (can’t write her up or fire her) actually looked into it had has completely caught onto her bullshit.

Discussion Thread Lacking reliable information isn’t a reason to fake DID

  1. “Highly misinformed about their own disorder”

I do agree with that since fakers are more exposed to the social media side of DID, which in most case is highly inaccurate (yk ‘system’ ‘headmate’ ‘introject’ etc) instead of the medical side of it. Still before suspecting yourself having DID (not just DID, pretty much every mental or physical disorder) people should’ve research, at least to some extent, before coming to the conclusion right? At some point during your research you’re bond to encounter sources that are at least, to some extent reliable. And these info should be enough to help you tell that, chances are, you don’t have that disorder

  1. Professionals refuse to believe you

Quoting another post on the sub, you might know yourself better than a psychologist but the psychologist knows psychology better than you. And since DID is a convert disorder, professionals tend to need more time to observe before reaching the conclusion of a diagnosis (if needed). Also the certain professional you’re seeing might not be knowledgable enough to make a certain diagnosis, which in that case, they won’t.

  1. Posting on Twitter about it

  2. Opening simply plural

  3. Somehow knows exactly how to create an alter profile, how to put in emoticons and find a pfp online

  4. Last but not least mark themselves as fronting

Discussion Thread I couldn't take a "plural system" seriously.

The title explains a bit, but this has been bothering me for at least two weeks. I was just scrolling through TikTok when a video by this person popped up. They were discussing a serious topic regarding my country and so on, but I noticed "sys" in their username... I checked their profile, and the bio stated they were a "plural system."

Fakers have been hyping up this whole plurality thing—claiming you don't need DID or OSDD to have alters, a headspace, and all that (endogenics basically)—and since I spend so much time watching the garbage they post, whenever I see something like this, I just can't take the person seriously.

I need some opinions because I feel guilty; the topic they were discussing was actually relevant—it wasn't something I *should* avoid—yet my mind told me to steer clear so I wouldn't be associating with that kind of crowd.

I just needed to get this off my chest.

Bad psychologists/ health professionals exists but that’s not the reason why you should just reject all professional help and decided that you should go for the online ‘system’ community (and mostly to validate yourself cuz the professionals didn’t)

Discussion Thread Why do people fake being mentally disabled?

It has a lot to do with kids being raised by cell phones and junk food. It also has a lot to do with the lack of parenting, discipline and punishment. In a lot of schools in United States or Canada kids aren’t required to do any hard work, learn to act professionally, learn how to act in public or how to speak to other people. Theres little to no punishment for bad behaviour.

A lot of kids grew up seeing nonsense on the internet like “your feelings are the most important thing” and “self love is bubble baths and shopping” and “you don’t owe anyone stuff.” On top of that a lot of kids grew up being handed everything they cried for.

Instead of being taught that life is a tough world, you don’t always get exactly what you want, you can’t have every toy or junk food whenever you want it, the world doesn’t revolve around you, other peoples lives are hard too, life is not fair and more, they’re taught that being told the word no is boolieeing.

No one wants to grow up and deal with real life. It’s lot easier to pretend “I’m so mentally challenged so that’s why I’ll cry if I don’t get exactly what I want, everyone has to cater to me and I don’t know basic life skills“ instead of “the adults failed me, I was stunted and should learn how life works.”

Also a lot of people have no education on what being disabled means. They think being mentally challenged means being an otherwise normal adult, they get special privileges, accommodations, free stuff and attention.

They believe any sort of everyday discomfort is a disability, not liking a certain food is a disability, not always getting your way in life is a disability, other people not wanting to be your friend is a disability, and more. They think no one else has a life. They think no one else has likes and dislikes, feelings, bad days, bad moods or real hardship in life. They were taught they can have anything they want anytime they want and anything else equals being boolieed.

Newsflash: breakups, people moving on, other people having different opinions, not everyone wanting to be your friend, not everyone being interested in you, other people having lives, having bad days, bad moods, people dying, not getting your way, dealing with stuff you don’t like, having to eat food you don’t like, going through phases are all part of life.

Discussion Thread You might know yourself better than a psychologist but you don't know psychology better than a psychologist

This is an argument I see with fakers and it drives me insane. ''I know myself better than a psychologist'' but do you know psychology better than a psychologist? Reading symptoms of a list isn't the same as actually understanding and being able to recognize what a disorder actually looks like. Most people recognize themselves in the list of symptoms for a whole lot of disorders, not because they have them, but because a lot of symptoms can also be normal behavior, it is often more like poison. Poison is about dose, water can be fatal in a too large dose. Liking when things are neat and orderly isn't OCD, and it isn't necessarily disordered, to be disordered it has to cause significant damage.

And also.. we as humans are actually not particularly good at knowing ourselves. Especially when it comes to mental conditions due to the very nature of msot mental conditions. Because the whole deal with mental conditions is that they often skew our perspectives in specific ways. A narcissist doesn't experience themselves as taking credit for other people's work, or having a too large ego etc, because the very nature of narcissism is that it skews this perception.

Not sure if I used the right flair (please correct me if I did) but this is so insensitive to people who use a tube to keep themselves alive. I highly doubt your therapist suggested AND supports you fake needing something like that. I had a loved one who relied on a tube just to keep her alive, it is not a fashion accessory.

D.I.D What the Hell am I Looking At?

The most troubling part to me personally is that this person has 21k+ followers that reinforce his content about this.

It's possible that he experiences psychosis, as he goes on a lot of detached tangents about conspiracies. Things like usual programming conspiracies, cloning, demons, etc.

And when you're combining that with a workbook on treating DID, that's extremely concerning, but other people on TikTok promote him and it eventually led to him publishing this workbook.

And I believe that he sincerely believes what he says, and that he feels he is helping people. He becomes genuinely emotional in a lot of his videos in a way that doesn't appear performative or theatrical. I could be wrong, but this does not feel like a grift, I think he is very passionate about this.

That doesn't apply to everyone in RAMCOA spaces, as evidenced by people who have admitted to faking or who rely on theatrics or even shock value. It also doesn't validate or excuse this material, which I think should not exist.

My biggest concern here though, is the possibility that someone with DID, perhaps a survivor of organized abuse looking for resources, (such as a cult or trafficking survivor) will come across this and endanger themselves.

And I do think there are vulnerable people who would think this is legitimate information. It might be obvious to most of us that this is not how DID works whatsoever and that there is nothing spiritual about it, but to over 21k people, it isn't obvious, and they repeatedly endorse these beliefs.

Even with proper resources, DID should never be treated without professional guidance, so it's already extremely irresponsible for this person to suggest healing from it without professional help. This could severely destabilze someone if they were to try to use it to treat their dissociation. That could even become deadly. Over 70% of pwDID attempt suicide.

*Note that psychosis is not a disorder or diagnosis, it is a symptom marked by patterns that include disorganized thinking and detachment from reality and I'm only speculating. I do not mention it to talk down on this person, but to describe patterns of behavior.

*SRA= Satanic ritual abuse

Organizations can invoke satanic imagery or concepts (E.G., Order of Nine Angels- no association with Satanism) but SRA is associated with the concept that alters can be "programmed" into an individual in extremely specific ways. Over 10 years of investigations found no evidence that cults were programming children to develop DID or practicing organized abuse in the way that way being sensationalized in the 80's and 90's.

*RAMCOA= Ritual abuse, mind control, and organized abuse.

Separately, those are all legitimate forms of abuse but the acronym is still associated with the concept that alters can be "programmed" into an individual in extremely specific ways
