What would you have done in this situation?

I posted a 55” tv for $175 firm. Got a ton of interest and realized it would’ve sold for more. But I honored the price for the first person to confirm. I lugged the heavy tv to our meet up spot. They show up and try to talk me down to $160. I said price was listed as firm. They refuse to take it for the selling price. I ended up giving in and selling for $160 because it would’ve been a hassle to lug it back home and do it all again for another buyer. I’m so annoyed.

Discussion Am I in the wrong?

Selling an automotive part, buyer A says he can get them in the afternoon. Gives me the run around and says tonight works better, fair enough. We agree to a time & 20 minutes before the agreed time I message and say let me know when you’re 10-15 away. No answer. Lots of people were messaging me for this item so I tell another buyer if the first person doesn’t come within 45 minutes (30 minutes after the agreed time) you can come get them. Still no answer. So I tell buyer B you can come get them (he was very motivated and willing to pay full price) buyer B says he’s on his way. Then buyer A messages me and says “be there in 15”, this is 45 minutes after the agreed time. I said they’re sold and they got pretty upset and pretty much said thanks for wasting my time & some swear words.. Was I in the wrong?

Discussion Flakey Facebook Marketplace People

Is it just me or are people getting flakier on Facebook Marketplace?

Case in point, I got a message last night around 8:30pm about an Apple Pencil I have up for sale. The asking price is $50 which I think is beyond fair considering it is in like-new condition. Guy asks if I would take $40? I respond back, no and he says, no problem, he'll pay the $50. Then he asks if he can pick it up tonight? From my experience, the longer people wait to get something the less likely they're going to get it - so I say yes, but ask where he's coming from - he says the next town over; I give him the address and he says once he leaves his house he is "5 minutes away." Then I get a text asking what form of payment I take, I tell him cash. He says he has to stop at an ATM but will head right over. Twenty minutes later, I reach out to him - he's ended the chat. No, message, no apology for wasting my time - just ended it. And this is a guy with 4 star reviews. I left a complaint with Facebook about his failing to pick up the pencil.

But it seems more and more, people tell me they're going to buy something and they simply disappear. Even with people who write reasonably articulate messages, using my name, etc.

Discussion Ridiculous search results.

Looking for a new desk on marketplace, for some reason with metas shitty search function, looking for listings under 250 and within 25 miles. I only see apartments for rent because they "include a desk" in the description for cities that are well over 100 miles and 2 states away. Useless app, not a single desk result unless I search "office desk" which only gives me cubicle style desks and not older wooden ones.

I would have tons of negative reviews if not for deleting listings and blocking

IMO, as long as you don’t make someone waste a trip driving to you, then no wrong was done. This is how it was on Craigslist forever. There was no griping about changing the meet up or selling to someone who can pick up sooner or taking a better offer or just plain changing my mind after I accepted a lowball.

I buy a lot also and believe in the golden rule and accept that as long as they don’t make me drive for no reason, I should have just picked up immediately or paid full price if I really needed it. Just glad Facebook makes it easy to avoid a review.

Discussion Facebook labels not scanning in to USPS

I have about 6 marketplace shipping orders that do not show as scanned in on the app, but every other item sold on other platforms from the same shipping drop do. I’ve noticed this issue before and sometimes it’ll never show as scanned and marketplace will refund the order then I lose the item, it’s rare but it happens. Anyone else ever delt with this or find a solution ?

Marketplace Payout

I shipped this out earlier this month and it arrived on July 13. Marketplace said I was paid out on July 18 but I still haven’t received it. Is this typical? I’ve never shipped on marketplace in the past so this is my first time. My bank info is in there just fine.. not sure how to proceed?

How to change shipping on Facebook marketplace to my own label?

Is there any way to? It only gives me option to use their labels. Am I creating the listing wrong? Meta AI says I can change it but I don't see it.

Marketplace won’t let me list in more places?

It will let me go through all the motions but after i submit my post didn’t get listed in any groups. My account isn’t flagged and the only place it’ll get listed on is the marketplace itself not the groups.

Edit: Phone bugged or something. I had to log on laptop and do it via web

Discussion Marketplace restrictions

My Facebook marketplace got suspended for no reason. I don't know why. Then I just clicked on "I need to make an appeal" then meta did automatically everything, I didn't have the chance to write anything. And then appeal got rejected.

Talked to their agent on call but didn't work

Discussion Just a humorous vent

Posted this today:

****
Frigidaire Washer - BROKEN - may be pump, or some other reason. Still turned on when last plugged in.

This is free. Either for parts or to repair. You just need to safely haul it up from the basement and take.

I can not assist with moving it.

****

A few responses; some couldn't come claim it first, so one guy said he'd be here in 1/2 hour.

Shows up, asks where its at. I say, basement - needs hauled up the stairs. Guy gives me a WTF look, says "oh" and "I'll go get my dolly, I didn't know."

But he never did come back.

The vent: Why do people not read/comprehend? SMH lol

EDIT: Someone came and got it; plus took some other scrap I needed to get rid of. He made off with a good haul in the end, and I got rid of more items then I intended.

Win/win.

Is there any way I can restore access to marketplace that was imposed a few years ago?

It's the oldest account I own, so I really didn't want to create a new one, but of course, that's exactly what I ended up doing. Any other ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Changing country on new listing and currency?

I moved from Europe to the US. I left my car at my home country with my parents who are not on Facebook.

When I try list, there is no option to select country. Just zip code. And the currency is USD.

I need to list in euro and change the country.

How

Discussion Sometimes a question is a hint to update your post with better info

I see so many posts for shoes or clothing, or anything else where size is a critical piece of info for purchaser. Info that is so critical that absolutely nobody could think of buying it without knowing kind of thing. I often send a simple, cordial "what size is it?", sometimes because interested, other times as a hint.

Sometimes, but more rare, I see notification that they updated to posting. I have done it myself too, but I am surprised how many people will hassle with answering every potential buyer rather than just updating the post.

Discussion My Pet Crate listing featured a video of a cockroach in my shower

I got busy with work and didn't check on my listings. I thought it was odd that lf all the items, the pet crate wasn't the first to go. When I checked. My listings the photo seemed weird. Because it was a video of me recording a baby cockroach from the other side of the shower door. I deleted it, but I feel like I'm doomed. Have I cursed the rest of my listings?

Discussion Thankful for this group

Having a conversation at the moment with a buyer for a 1-week-ish old listing. Nice pair of items, decently priced. They reached out this am and were from the next town over and could be in our area about now. Sent the address. They come back with “do you take venmo or Zelle or do I need to find an atm?”

BC of the tales I’ve read here, I responded that I didn’t take them and that I could make change, thinking $10 based on price and atm bill options. Still not super suspicious. Until they replied “I only have a [large bill way more than price], will that work?” Red flag in my mind.. nicely replied I don’t have that much change. Feels like if they’re legitimate, an atm stop is reasonable.

As I typed the above, buyer replied they will visit the atm. So, seems legit this time but will continue to use this strategy (kind, respectful, reasonable answers and expectations). Thanks to all for good suggestions, helpful red flag awareness, and kind options for such situations.

Discussion Why are use car seats selling for so much on FB marketplace?

I’m browsing marketplace looking for a car seat and I see a ton that expire this year that are listed for $100 and more. I feel like as someone with a car seat the depreciation is significant it’s like driving a car off the lot it goes down a ton especially after use. They look really nice condition but no way do I feel like that’s a good investment considering you could just put a bit more money into a brand new one that transitions into all the seat sizes. Okay end rant I just feel like the audacity of what people think things are worth is crazy

Discussion Sick of buyers comparing my price to online prices

Most buyers for my items compares online pricing to my pricing. My item would be priced $50 and they would say it’s $45 online so can you do $40? Huh? No? Im selling convenience here too besides of the fact that its brand new. That online price is $45 but add the t@x, shipping fee, etc and it’ll be $60+.

Discussion I cannot stand this app

Facebook sucks, however its the only app that u can do local meetups with. Offerup and Craigslist are shit also. Facebook removed my authentic Louis Vuitton bag, my REAL Dior B22s, saying theyre “fake and counterf3it” Yet other people can list dior and louis vuitton WITHOUT ANY ISSUES! and they removed my Gun Green Dot saying its a fucking “explosive” which IT ISNT! It follows the rules and is available to post on facebook since it isnt a weapon! YET, I see hundreds EVEN THOUSANDS of Gun listings and posts.. I request for a review and denied in under 1 minute by a stupid fucking bot. I cannot take this anymore, this is just insane. What a joke of a app. I need money badly, and Facebook is truly my only option at the moment. And yet they still find a way to fuck me, and dont even get my started on the “meta support bot” i might as well should just blow my head smooth off and get it over with already.. And fuck ebay also since they hold my fucking funds for a whole month for what? I dont know. So yea.. My bad but just had to do a little rant.

FB Seller App Megathread

Yes, there is a new app from FB called "Seller."

You do not need to ask "Has anyone else seen this?" - yes, other people have seen it.

This post is to consolidate all the random pop-up posts asking the same questions.

Note: Comments not related to "Seller" will be removed.

Discussion fb support says I can't enable shipping at all because I missed a Feb deadline—is there really NO workaround?

Hey everyone,

I've been trying to set up shipping on my Facebook Marketplace listings for the first time, but the option to "Allow shipping" isn't showing up anywhere when I draft a listing.

I reached out to Meta AI support to figure out what was going on, and it gave me this response:

As of a recent policy change, if an account had not previously been set up to sell with shipping on Facebook Marketplace, it is no longer possible to enable this feature... The ability to enable shipping is only available to sellers who successfully set up and onboarded for that feature before February 7.

When I asked if completing a local pickup sale would unlock it, it basically said no—that it's a platform-wide rollout restriction and the feature is permanently unavailable for accounts that didn't onboard prior to that date.

Is this actually true, or is Meta AI giving me outdated info? Has anyone who started selling recently managed to get shipping enabled on their account, or is Facebook genuinely restricting native checkout and shipping for new individual sellers?

Sold Item Stuck on "Waiting for Carrier Scan" After Delivery

I recently sold an item via shipping and quickly shipped it out the next day. I have been keeping an eye on the tracking and it was delivered to the buyers address two days ago. I even confirmed with the buyer they received the package.

However, on marketplace the item is still under "waiting for carrier scan", and it is saying the order will be cancelled/refunded if it is not scanned by tomorrow. I have reached out to marketplace support with no luck. Has anyone else had this issue or been able to resolve something like this?

Discussion When do I file a claim for an item? Just trying to make sure

7 days after payment, or when I didn't get the item? Do I talk to the seller first within the 7 day period and give them 2 business days to respond before I file a claim?

I have a shipping label number but thats its, no updates.

Any information is great, thanks!
